My best family pics are the ones I take before everyone is “ready”. Tell them you’re checking focus and exposure and start shooting. Then get them to pose and take a few more. Then keep shooting when they’re “done”. The keepers everyone loves are all the “before” and “after” shots! Love your videos Omar! I’ve been shooting for almost 40 years, and I’ve learned a lot from you, thanks so much.
I watch this video every time I feel nervous for a large family photo session. It always takes me back to basics. I love how you teach, and that you’re not afraid to critique yourself to help us learn along the way. I really appreciate it!
I just want to thank you for the great content! I used some of your tips in a recent family shoot. Mainly the hand in pocket and the “show the love” moment. We laughed through the entire shoot. The deep breath and shake really helped too. Earned a sub. Looking forward to more vids from you!
*Know your family* Omar: Show me the love! My family: Passes handwritten notes without eye contact, that read “I have never found your existence anything less than valuable. Carry on.” 🇬🇧
Omar! Thank you! I love listening to you on the way to my shoot, you're my hype guy!! I needed this one today! I took family formal Portraits with a beautiful Nigerian family of 4! 3 wardrobe changes! With your photos you shared, it helped me make the most of it with different poses! I'm a director, so I set up all my shots with love! We are so important to capture the moment that's last lifetimes!! I love how you said the kids as a bookend.. I took that with this family, and made it like the kids are holding up the parents like history books.(age 8 & 14). This Captured it!! this moment in time and culture. With your tips, you made my shoot!! **The is the very best formal family pose tips Out there folks!** I appreciate ya!! Hugs!
OMAR!!!! Genius!!! I had a family session today and watched this video and seriously helped me so much. I was to the point of NO longer doing family photos, but today was too much fun thanks to your tips
I am sooooo glad I’ve come across this. I’ve been asked to take some photographs of my friends daughters graduation and this is just perfect. Thanks Omar
I am a photographer (studio photography) and am still somewhat amateur when it comes to shooting large groups. I have about 8 adults tomorrow in the studio. Thank you for your tips!
Great tips Omar. I was just asked to do a family portrait for my friends so these tips come in very handy. Technical stuff is necessary, but posing makes the shot.
Omg. Omar, I am learning so much from your videos. I am a hobbyist but I love photography and want to improve. Thank you so much for posting wonderful videos.
Dude! I just found this video, I've grappled with this topic with limited success and you've just blown the doors wide open. Excellent video, super accessible and a really enjoyable watch. New sub here!!
Helpful stuff! I noticed your photos here have a fair amount of depth of field. I like the look! So many sites make an immutable rule to "make the background CREAMY!" even if you have to buy a $2000 lens to do it! I like photos with more depth. Plus it makes it easier to accommodate groups where not everyone is on the same plane!
Omar thank you for the super informative video!! This really helped my Fall family sessions especially photographing a larger family. Your tips and tricks produced a really professional result and I have a ton more confidence in being able to handle these otherwise daunting jobs. Thank you!!! I also subscribed so I'm looking forward to more content. Cheers!
Thank you very much Omar! I take a photo over 10years. But I had just interested in portrate of our family these days. Your channel is very helpul for me. Oh, and I like your sense of humor! Very very thank you and take care your family! - Your fan from S. Korea.
First time here and subscribing for sure. Loved the video and all your tips and tricks. I’ve started shooting families recently and this comes in hand 🖐 🤚
Ugh, this is so helpful. I shoot boudoir and single portraits. A friend asked for a SEVEN member family portraits. I made VERY clear, it’s not my specialty. She persisted and I’m crossing my fingers I can pull it off.
Great lesson, thank you for sharing your knowledge, love learning new techniques. It's just a hobby for me, but would like to think I can shoot on par with the pros.
Thanks Omar.. your tips are amazing. You go the extra mile to help people like me. Thanks for sharing from your tool bag, tip bag. Keep up the good work.
Hey man, thx tomorrow i have to take a church picture of my kid and his classmates on their big day. I have been trusted with this by the other parents and its nervewrecking to be honest, this game me a bit to work with, i feel more at ease now thx :0)
I find I grab cameras from strangers, with their permission, to take a family photo for them so it looks like dad was on vacation too. A never fail for me in these spontaneous shoots is to tell them to “pretend you like each other “. Gives you about 10 seconds of natural pose, all you need for a courtesy shot.
Thanks for all your great tips! Your explanations are clear and easy to follow. Please keep this type of videos coming, to show us newbies how to better compose our family pics. Cheers!
Hey Omar, I would appreciate if you explain about aperture for group photo in detail ie. where to focus and what aperture to get the sharpest image while maintaining bokeh in the background.
Adore your videos and hope to see you get some more well deserved subscribers. Ever consider doing a portrait video similar to this? New to fuji (xt10) and have some old nikon primes. Looking to dive in and get some ideas! Cheers!
Hi Omar. Would you be so kind to make video how to set up light for group photo. I know basics of lighting the one person portrait, but have no clue how to do it with group or family
Hi ! thank you so much for this video. Following an exhibition of my landscape photography I carried out, one of the visitors asked me to take a picture of his entire family. This is not my cause, I have just discovered your superb video which opens up tracks for me and I thank you for it. I will just have a small question I think to take my Canon 50mm f1,2 and my 135 f2 on a 5D MKIV. What aperture you recommend for this kind of photos the principal is to have the family completely sharp. Thanks for your help
