Phox, i get you man. Beeing associated with a specific skill (archetype) as basically its master must be tiring indeed. People start to expect it from you and grow more toxic if the dont get what they want. But i have to say regardless: GOOD WORK SIR. There is a reason why people call the Guardian Sentinel "pocket Pohx". You left a Mark, as anoying that can be. Youre basically a synonym for t5he RF Skill. Its a feat not everyone has achieved in all those years of POE1. The kind of dedication is not something anyone can do and i respect that. So my advice/plead - fuck the haters....go have some fun. And who knows, maybe you really find something different and new. I wish you all the luck and thanks for youre over the Top RF guides. Use it a lot to grow as a player in POE1. Thats why i am hyped for POE2, starting fresh as everyone else.
I just want to say thank you. The most fun I've had in POE was with a RF. My first RF build was terrible, then I made another character and watched perhaps 5 or 6 of your videos and I had a blast clearing maps. I finally saw a few of the end game map bosses and got utterly destroyed but I had fun trying.
I am also looking forward for the release of Huntress. I wanted it to be available on day 1 but it is what it is, Monk is a close second anyways. I'm glad you'll be experimenting for now, Pohx. Can't wait for more content!
also when he says it is tied to a class, that is also just how they are leasing skills. To the point Johnathan said swords will not be dropping in EA because the class and skills that use them are not in the game yet. So it could very well just be a templar skill that will come when the class comes, however you are right and it is just a s possible it will be tied to an ascendency(which Johnathan also confirmed those skill can be supported).
Its very likely. But my guess is it will take along time until we see it. Jonathan spilled the beans a bit as Ghazzy asked for Skills like Golems and others and it came out it is all tied to the Templar class. But a lot of it is still in the early stages as there is still a lot to do with mechanics and implementation.
weapons tied to classes is absolute crap. they need to fix that. I want to be a hammer guy using flicker and i cant. it was a complaint i had in poe 1 and they made it worse in poe 2.
@@Dead_Goat well....at some point you need some kind of restriction. Its sad, but i think it is important. Flicker Strike with the one Weapon that has the biggest dmg per hit base value would bascially invalidate everything else.
@@Dead_Goat It is mostly an animation restriction, arguably one handed axe/sword skills would probably look fine, but you can't just take a staff animation plug it into a warhammer and expect it look alright. I agree the restriction feels bad and antithetical to poe design, but if it means my game looks and feels that good . . . Ima take it.
I still remember the very first time early on when I picked up an RF, went "Oh what does this do?", and promptly burned myself down to 1HP while bricking myself... Still one of my most iconic deaths after some white mob took the opportunity to finish me
hell yes pohx! glad you're just gonna explore and enjoy the game at the start. =) i'm going to be playing some kind of minion infernalist. hoping to use raging spirits in combination with some cast on ignite shenanigans.
I have a special relationship with RF, several years ago, the first video I saw was ... RF, a random guy who was Act 6 on the beach, using RF but his life was constantly dropping, he couldn't sustain, he was doing dps like that, then he used an anti burn flask before dying. I remember he said "this is high level play I don't recommend you to use this skill". I thought it looked cool but it was a shame not to be able to use RF permanently. Then, a few years later, a French creator released a Chieftain RF that worked, I said to myself wow I want to play that. And a few months later, Ziz introduces us to Pohx, RF specialist ❤🔥
Excited to see you experiment when the game comes out. Necro or Sorc looks cool so might start with one of those. Always liked the idea of a bow build but in most(if not any) they just drop off pretty fast.
Caustic Arrow has been my favorite skill for a long time. I want to try and play around with some skills and create something that's as close to that as I can get it, but also open to any other fun stuff I discover along the way. So that's the initial plan, something poison bow based.
The way I think righteous fire should be implemented: If using RF, all main damage skills should be disabled. And boost RF damage to BIG. Not op big, But Massive. Btw, you are my best Poe UA-camr! 😊
im so excited to jump into the game and learn as much as possible on my own :D I'm going to take my sweet time leveling and stuff. Im not rushing straight to the atlas
from what I can tell, poe2 plays completely differently than poe1, even at a fundamental controller level, so why would anyone expect the builds from poe1 would work the same? I'm looking forward to poe2, hopefully they can make it run efficiently.
Cast when damage taken - > casts a spell - > fills up the fire bar - > u take dmg from the fire bar filling to Max - > cast when damage taken 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀 (and if u ignite u get to cast when ignite) If u can have cast when dmg taken supporting 2 skills, u can have it so that one casts first getting u to 31% fire bar filled, and then the 2nd one casts filling the rest of ur bar (but getting the increase ignite bonuses from the ascendancy) which would increase ur dps even more Otherwise don't even bother and the setup works with 1 skill
There may be some hard limits on that. From what I understood, you'll be able to have only 1 skill supported with the same support. Each skill has his own "line", and you cannot have same support on a different line. That would mean only 1 triggered skill possible through CWDT. Unless there are new mechanics or it gets changed later (or I misunderstood :D). We will see, so much to discover :D
I am starting as a Mercenary My theory about RF is what he mentioned that visually it is still RF but the way it scales isnt, so maybe it will pulsate now instead of doing constant degen. Thats my theory, a game theory
I think it looking similar to the Monolith boss is not by accident because Xesht also needs to be defeated multiple times on increasing difficulties to unlock stuff just like Orobyss.
Definitely playing mercenary as my starter for poe2 like you if you are gonna play mercenary too XD btw keep up the gd work pohx. I will play RF once they release it in EA. Can't wait to try the new RF after seeing the smirk on Jonathan's face
I am probably going for a Sorceress where I want to go for the 'Cast on' gems (like Ignite, Freeze, Shock, etc.). So I would have a main skill or two and one or two acting as trigger (for example a Wall of Fire and then a Firestorm linked to Cast on Ignite). The goal is to have a good clear while being 'Low APM'. If not that, probably a Minion Witch with permanent minions since again, low APM since they auto resummon. These are the two options I am considering at the moment.
I’m pretty sure they are going to rework it to be more of a holy type of skill. I mean it is righteous fire so it makes sense. It could end up being a temporary buff or maybe something persistent that takes spirit, but I’m betting on temporary and that when you turn it on it removes all ailments and debuffs and then deals more damage per debuff removed. That’s just my opinion tho.
I'm mainly interested in starting with an ascendancy that gives an extra skill so I'm leaning towards Sorceress, mainly for cast on crit with Stormweaver. But also because I'm curious about the cooldown reset skill from Chronomancer, will depend on how long cooldown it has of it's own as well as what strong skills with cooldowns there are to pair it with.
I want to be the demon chick. I hear that it is meant to be focused on minions in some capacity, but I'd rather steer away from that, but we shall see. All I know is that I want devil trigger.
I honestly have no idea what I am going to play. That is the only shitty part about it is that I have choice paralysis. They made so many interesting archetypes that I cant choose. I keep going back and forth between Gemling Legionaire and Witch.
I personally gonna go with a Chonk... Monk cause its a freaking monk and Acolyte of Chayula cause sounds so awesome... your literally a corrupted monk.... Skills are secondary :P
Calling it now, RF will be used in a sorta "magic knight" playstyle. Like they tried to do with inquisitor on poe to blend spells and attacks together, I guess they managed to do it properly for poe 2.
What do you mean? They said it's different stats wise like maybe it burns the highest pool you have instead of es+life so you can burn either mana, life or es and the calculation is different or something. Sounds like the skill itself is similar, like how it plays.
you should start a series of thumbnails where you are on fire I am going to start poison plants ranger. The first build I ever got to maps with was Esoro's toxic rain some time shortly after conquerors came out so I am looking to recapture that theme with the launch.
You will probably be able to make RF dog from Fire Ascension, at least this is the thing I would start PoE2 from. RF dog, some archer skeletons and raging spirits on top of that.
The Dog can ignite, but with attacks not as an aura it. At least it seems so in the reveal. But yes, it is the one ascention that has mentioned minions ;). So there is power to be gained. Its my first pick atm. depending what will be revealed further down the line.
Think my first char might be a chronomancer sorc, looking for the highest available cooldown/damage skill to use cooldown reset with, see how that goes.
Probably start as the Monk cos he's bald, like me. Then I'd like to play the Merc for some crossbow go brrrrrrr action. Or not, hell I'll probably try them all
GGG has always said it will be like POE. Any skill can be used by any class. But I think they want to focus it down for new players. So skills that go with classes. Or what a new player would be thinking about. POE2 will be more about people that have never played POE before.
It's cringe to have class only skills. Even with chronomancer, id like to have time unwind for the mercenary, just have a better version for the ascendancy or upgrades to it. For RF, sometimes id like a Karui theme, other times Elementalist, maybe even a demonic trickster. The elemental skills are the easiest to generalize and have headcanon lore on how it works.
