For me, the 79 to 93 Fox Bodies, particularly 85-86 are just special to me. Im primarily a GM guy but running around on the street in the 90's I raced a lot of Fox Bodies and despite all my friends hating on them, I always really liked them. The first one I ever drove was a black 86 GT with a 92 5.0, T5, 92 quarter glass with Ponies, I was hooked. Didn't stop til I had that very car, still got it, still looks as good as it did the first day I drove it.
I'm a huge chevy fan, but the foxbody coupes are my favorite except for 69 z28 (can't afford). I just bought a 1990 coupe for $700 bucks. Search around and pick up a fox, they are affordable cheap fun toy.
The big thing with the mod motor being bigger is that it’s a 4 valve which has massive heads, the 2 valve would fit a little bit better in a fox and they sound really good imo, I would still choose my 87 5.0 GT hatch over a 99-04 2v GT
94-98 has the exact same axle housing as a Fox but the axle shafts are 3/4” wider per side due to the abs rings. 99+ has an additional 3/4” per side on the rear end housing, for a total of right at 1.5” wider per side than a Fox.
people running super fat drag setups in the rear of their new edge cars often swap fox rears in for extra clearance without tubbing and fabbing super short rear setups
I hate everything from 94-2004. They just looked like every other car on the road at the time. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and hey, drive what you like...but I'm so glad the re-did the Mustang in 2005 SUCH a great design.
Imo the 79-93 Fox Design somehow never gets old... Timeless classic design. While the 94-2004, especially the 94-98 design, regardless how cool it looked back then, looks a bit outdated today.
Many similarities yes, but one big difference on the Cobra(03-04) is the IRS rear suspension. And I do wish the Terminator seats were set lower like in the fox body cars; my legs are crammed up into the steering wheel of my '03 Cobra. But I do like both engine styles...pushrod and modular. I've owned 5 mustangs...'86GT, '88LX, '94Cobra, '98GTvert, and '03 Cobra, and I loved every one of them!
I went ahead and bought a new edge. Sure they are kind of slow when stock, but a few mods can be a big upgrade and you don’t have to spend much money. Put in pulleys, CAI, mod the gears, bigger air intake manifold, coils and spark plugs, and you may be looking at near 300 hp numbers. I like fox body mustangs too, but I feel like new edge mustangs are easier to drive daily. I’m only 5 ft 5 in so I’m not too worried about interior space.
just bought a 02 vert. killer deal, and already had almost all mods done..long tubes full exhaust, coils, injectors, cai, tb, lower intake and plenum. i put a new stage 1 clutch in it..found out it had a aluminium racing flywheel. 373 gears. shes fun to drive and pretty quick..love it
Man, this video drove it home for me. I liked both, but I have always wanted the 87-93 GT. I owned an 01 GT briefly, and was really undecided until now. Thanks for the decision factor sir.
I've had both and definitely have to give it to my 88, still have it in the garage! You brought up some good points about both cars!! Also one thing Brew2l.... you brought up foxcast, check out his last video when he was grinding the pad, you have to help him with his music choice!!!! Your always on point when it comes to your music and many other things too!! Help him!! Lol.....
Have no idea how to message you on here but I'm having an issuing with overheating at idle when sitting for a period of time or in bad traffic I have dual electric fans and a 3 inch aluminum radiator 160 degree thermostat...I cant figure a solution to fix it can you please help
As someone who has owned a 95 cobra and over 5 foxbodys, I 100% agree with this video. I personally love the way the foxbody look, much cleaner and open inside like you said. I'm going a 5 lug cobra swap and 03 cobra rack in mine! Best of both worlds!
As a 19 year old foxbody owner I got to say I wish I would've gone with a new edge solely because the nickel and dime repairs cut into the mods money but I still love the car and wouldn't give it up for anything else
Hey. At least yours runs. My fox still doesn't have the motor and transmission in it 😂. But, 16 year old me wanted the truly, "built, not bought" experience. 19 year old me is still paying for it. Piece by expensive piece 😂
I had a 88 gt convertible and the top was brutal it sat on top the windshield & had 2 week clamps in the corners to hold it down. they would always lift in the middle if you were going at highway speeds. I was on a trip and got caught up in a rain storm & me & my buddy got soaked. it was like driving with the top down. so beware of this if you are looking to purchase a convertible fox
How well do u like the seat extenders i'm 6 1 and have long legs even with my seat all the way back it's like I'm driving a go kart as my knees are right by the steering wheel.
@@dirtshart I love them, but the steering wheel is a bit harder to reach, but worth it for me. The airbag cars are worse for room of course because the wheel doesn't tilt.
you are right to a point aout the 79-93 and the 94-04 cars being basically the same. there were a few differences other than styling though, mostly some extra chassis stiffening and suspension geometry changes in the 94 up cars. the front control arms for instance on the 94 up cars are longer than the 93 and earlier cars, and do interchange for better handling and suspension response. also the ball joints interchange so you can use the later spindles on the earlier arms without adapters to get a five bolt lug pattern and bigger brakes. and if you want to lower your 94 up fox, use the 93 and earlier struts as they are shorter by about an inch as i recall.
I have owned 3 late 80s early 90s 5.0s. A convertible fox, an f150 and a crown vic. All of them had the same obnoxious (OBD1) vacuum issues. I now have a 98 gt and love the simplicity and reliability. I do miss out on the cheaper mods for power. But I like a convertible for cruising not racing. Plus my Si is faster than my GT! That's right!
You're absolutely right, I'm 6'2" and I gotta say the seats in my fox are still very comfortable, and it's 31 yrs old. I ride in my buddy's 73 Grand Prix wich is a big car and just the way the dash is, I feel like its smal, it's rap around dash kinda smothers you. You and i think pretty much think a like, either you're old in mind or you're young at heart OR I'm young at heart..lol let's go with that😉..great video brother.🇺🇸
The fox and the fox-4. The terminator is a fox in a terminator's clothing, lol. When i got my 96 cobra i was like dam those are some huge heads, lol. I hated not being able to barely work in the engine bay,but happy after i went back to a fox over a year ago and just recently replaced my lower intake gaskets and it was fun to work on my own engine again without pulling it out,lol
I think you should make an in-depth video on changing foxbody brakes. I’ve seen only 1 semi good video on UA-cam and a lot of people don’t like it. Plus I need to know how to properly change my brakes in the future
with the redesign in 94 Ford added something like 33% additional chassis reinforcement/stiffness. i remember them at the time displaying a bare chassis upright with all the new or redesigned structural components painted a contrasting color to show off the improvements. That's why the SN ride is more solid than older Fox's. Also, 94 95 5.0 was still ODB1, while all v6 and then in 96 with the 4.6 were OBD2.
I'm 6'1" and my 94 is a lot roomier than a Fox, the terminator has that cocoon effect built in. Also, the SN95 rides better because the wheels are pushed out to the edges more. Stuff that was learned from years of road racing the Foxes. I love them both and can't decide between picking up a new edge next or a 4eye fox.
I simply prefer foxbody, especially -87 and later, because it has that classic 80s styling in it. I was a kid to my teens during that decade and also all european and japanese cars of that era shared the same general styling. Fox just has much more nostalgic value for me. No doubt that SN95/NE improved many things over the old fox and is generally better built car (not that fox is bad for its time, on hte contrary), but Sn95 is just too 90s in my opinion. I like much more this straightforward and simplified design of 80s car compared to the roundish 90s styling. And I also prefer the Fox as a hobby car, because the less electronics the car has, the easier it is to maintain and repair in the end. But each to their own, like you said in the video :)
Always good to be on top of your vids man. Wassup from chicago. I actually have a an 87 fox a 00 new edge with a 302 pushrod and a 08 bullitt mustang. Prolly gonna buy back my 86 5.0 in a few as well. Thanks for all the in depth info
I got in a wreck with my 98gt and the whole safer with 2 airbags, well I wouldn't count on it if you crash. My airbags poped out but only inflated after I got out the car after the crash. Definitely upgrade what ever it is for the airbags to deploy because it is an old car never sure with those things. Maybe I just got unlucky
I’m 6’3” and I feel that my new edge feels more like a sports car than the old muscle car feel of the Fox bodies I’ve owned. That being said I still miss my foxes. Good information buddy.
I been saying it for a while and most people don't beleive it. I'm a Ford man bc yourf150,250 bronco, tbird, cougars, rangers and obviously your mustangs. A lot of parts are interchangeable, unlike Chevy.
If had 67/68 fastbacks and an 07GT and 3 other fox body’s. My son has a04 terminator with lots of mods and that is a nice car but my preference is the fox and that’s what I’m back to. Great videos
I'm comfortable in both cars but the fox is by far a more relaxed and cruiser type feel. The seats are also much more plush and easier on the rear for long trips imo. I like the power of my cobra but also love the nostalgia and openness of older cars like the foxes. If the sn cars seats were lower it would help some but then the dash would feel even taller perhaps. I'm almost 6'2" and the roof is rather closer than I'd like and eventually I'll get some seats to try and get a little more clearance.
I've had both. The Fox 5.0 is a much better engine with way fewer issues. The mod engine served one reason. It could be used as a multi platform engine.
I have had all generations of the mustang in stock form and have modified them! Starting with suspension and body stiffening the 67 felt the best, second was the capri (79- 93). Daily driving the sn car felt just ok on the steet, but full race form the sn cars surpassed all that I've owned. I removed suspension from sn car to 1st generation foxbody and it wasn't the same! The car just wasn't long enough and slid of the track regardless of tire!
I have a question Can I run a b303? Installing a tfs intake with the cam. I have a SD 88 GT I’m looking to get a cam but not converting to maf rather go carb if I have too but want to stay SD as long as possible
If your going to run EFI...you're going to have to do a MAF conversion (not difficult nor costly) to run that cam...SD just can't adjust enough for the cam.
Come to think of it I haven't ever seen Yella Wolf with the top down. Would you mind uploading if you get time this weekend with the top down? I always love your content.
I'm only 5'10" and I always felt cramped in my 90 5.0lx, especially in the pedal area. Almost impossible to drive with boots on. So I doubt I'd like the sn95s.
Man great video i love the 5.0 ive had 2 new edges and both motors where garbage as a matter of fact i have one in the driveway that needs a motor as we speak. I love my 94 5.0 gt easy to work on but my heart will always be with the foxbody i plan on getting me another 1 soon ive owned at least 5 of em hate to this day i had to get rid of em
My terminator rides way nicer then any fox I’ve had and the interior is nicer also, but I love the fox as well. That’s why I have one of those also! Lol
I love watching your videos. I own a fox and I like the tips you have on them. My car ran like crap when I got it. It’s drivable now but not perfect and some of the stuff you talked about I want to try. And I love the terminator. Some day I’ll have both like you. lol
The newer the car the worse you can see out if them....the a pillar on the newer explorers my god it’s terrible I have a 2014 gt and a 2003 gt had a ton of foxes but I prob won’t ever get another one the prices of nice ones are just to high now for me 🤷♂️
I believe they are the staggered 17x9 and 17x10 set from LMR. I got them this last Christmas. I have a two tone sonic blue and silver. They look and fit perfectly on my 87
I'm a Fox guy...I'll just keep my bought new 91' Strawberry Coupe with the stock brake booster lol... One question...why do the SN95's ride better? Weight? Spring package? Rigidity?
Power steering rack suck on Fox Bodies. 03/04 Cobra racks are much better and fit the Fox Bodies with a telescoping, um, driveshaft? I forgot the name of it. Maximum motor sports sells it. I used sn95 control arms and they extend out the wheel base the about 1 ich. I fixed this by using 05+ wheels. However, when the sn95 rear end was swapped in on the rear of my fox, the rears wheels went IN with the 05+ wheels. You can fix this by getting a spacer. In my case, I found a set of 18" Cobra Rs with BOTH offsets (94-04 & 05+), can you believe it? For $400, including tires, brand new!! No lie! Want to see how it looks? Scroll down to the bottom of the page, that blue fox is mine (the spindle picture and driveway). lmr.com/item/EIB-9310/79-04-Mustang-Eibach-Drag-Launch-Spring-Kit The only bad thing is I can't rotate them. That's fine, I plan to stagger the tire sizes anyways.
The 93 cars were the ones without the telescoping Steering shaft. I couldnt stand that about my 93 Coupe. I like the top of the wheel to be level with my shoulder when I grab the top of the wheel for leverage although I rarely drive holding the top thats the position I feel it should be and not a higher placement.
My 85 vert has a new top and it is flawless. But guess what. I didn't buy it to have the top up. 99% of the time it is down. Brakes do what they are supposed to do unless you are a dumbass and add a 100 h.p. and drive like it's NASCAR week every day. None of the mustangs from 94 1/2 and up will ever have the following or collectible value of a 🦊. Plain and simple.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍I agree 100% about the fox platform design and parts being able too interchangeably which is good for building a fox car .👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great video. For someone that has always liked the looks of the SN95, I just never was a fan of the interior. That compact look you mention, that's exactly what always turned me off on the inside. That said, at 6'5", I've never had a problem fitting in the Fox. Granted, there isn't a lot of room for a passenger behind me though! Never been a fan of the styling in the 95/New Edge either. Realizing, the Fox deviated from the "double hump" dashboard and a few other iconic things "Mustang", I'm just not a fan of the interiors. Overall, I'm like you, the fox is my preference.
For me, the 79 to 93 Fox Bodies, particularly 85-86 are just special to me. I just love the OG Fox Body because it’s a true pony car...the sn95 is just too big.
I like the SN95 because you can go many directions old-school or the terminator
Dude... the push rods will live on forever!!
Imo the 79-93 Fox Design somehow never gets old... Timeless classic design. While the 94-2004, especially the 94-98 design, regardless how cool it looked back then, looks a bit outdated today.

I agree so much with this guy on so many things I'd trade my 2000 GT for a ran hard doggd out cazillion mile notch fox body any day
Ford did the same with the 99 to 16 superdutys, many have done front end conversions and interior conversion to their older models.
Man, this video drove it home for me. I liked both, but I have always wanted the 87-93 GT. I owned an 01 GT briefly, and was really undecided until now. Thanks for the decision factor sir.
I’m in the same boat, thinking about trading my 2000 gt for an 89 gt hatchback
damn fr in this rn. boutta sell up my 01 gt to fund my 89 convert build lol
I think "poke and hope" describes my repair style. Thanks for posting
Amen!!!! About the push rod motors .
Help him!! Lol.....
I unsubscribed from him, a lot of talk about nothing. He likes to shoot the shit on his vlogs.
I’m still with the foxbody #1☝️
Have no idea how to message you on here but I'm having an issuing with overheating at idle when sitting for a period of time or in bad traffic I have dual electric fans and a 3 inch aluminum radiator 160 degree thermostat...I cant figure a solution to fix it can you please help

03-04 Cobra was way ahead of it's time.
Nice tips just got myself a 98
I got a new edge v6 but i want to put a 5.0 roller motor innit is it possible

Brother! I really liked this video! Cool video this Saturday morning!
Do people not know that sn95 is a fox chassis ? 79-04 is literally the same car lol oh my god new mustang generation hobbyists are fucking sense.
I have a 99 & the only issue I have is that I don't have a fox 2 go with it.
I'm comfortable in both cars but the fox is by far a more relaxed and cruiser type feel. The seats are also much more plush and easier on the rear for long trips imo. Foxbody, new edge, then if I absolutely came across a killer deal, I’d pick up an SN. Maybe an SN for the kids to drive as a first vehicle kinda deal.
Very interesting facts
wrecked a fox @ 70mph no seatbelt walked out with goose egg and a totaled car with bent stirring wheel
I've had both. The Fox 5.0 is a much better engine with way fewer issues. The mod engine served one reason. It could be used as a multi platform engine.
New edge always. I have owned one and loved it. Always dreamed about owning a foxbody. Now I own a SN94 and hate it. I would love to own the foxbody.
THANK YOU FOR THE INFO👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

I agree with everything you said about the 2 in your comparison. Truth brother
For drag racing on the rear suspension would you go new edge or s197
Big Mustang fan here, but will always be Foxbody-4-Life.
I have a question
Can I run a b303?
Installing a tfs intake with the cam.
I have a SD 88 GT I’m looking to get a cam but not converting to maf rather go carb if I have too but want to stay SD as long as possible
If your going to run EFI...you're going to have to do a MAF conversion (not difficult nor costly) to run that cam...SD just can't adjust enough for the cam.
Love both of your cars. Mine is still hibernating.
Thanks for sharing.
You are the man! Love the videos keep them coming!
I have some nice Corbeaus brand new condition would you trade for the black cobra seats?
My seats aren’t in the best condition honestly..
Come to think of it I haven't ever seen Yella Wolf with the top down. Would you mind uploading if you get time this weekend with the top down? I always love your content.
Nice video and I love my 89 Foxbody 5.0 LX.
I'm only 5'10" and I always felt cramped in my 90 5.0lx, especially in the pedal area. Almost impossible to drive with boots on. So I doubt I'd like the sn95s.
Love fox bodies. But the terminator would be as far as I would go.maybe a Mach 1 rarely see them
I myself much prefer the ride and feel of my 87 over my 2001,
Nice post.
Hey cool vid I think it’s mostly the same car can you measure the inside the strut towers on both cars. Thanks again
Not sure if was said but the IRS setup fits in a 79 to 93 also
My terminator rides way nicer then any fox I’ve had and the interior is nicer also, but I love the fox as well. That’s why I have one of those also! Lol
I love watching your videos. I own a fox and I like the tips you have on them. My car ran like crap when I got it. It’s drivable now but not perfect and some of the stuff you talked about I want to try. And I love the terminator. Some day I’ll have both like you. lol
I couldn't get comfortable in the 94+ cars. Like you said, I liked the room in the 79-93.
Wat kind of seats are in your fox and are they more comfy that the og's
Great video! I have had 2 89 5.0’s and Also a 95 GT and a 2000 GT. My heart is with the Foxboxy but the ride in the 95GT and 00 GT is much better.
Poke and Hope. Sounds like the way I got my kids.
The newer the car the worse you can see out if them....the a pillar on the newer explorers my god it’s terrible
I have a 2014 gt and a 2003 gt had a ton of foxes but I prob won’t ever get another one the prices of nice ones are just to high now for me 🤷♂️
If it’s not broken, don’t fix it lol
💪🇺🇸 can’t beat a great fox !
💥😎
what size tires on red car front and back
I believe they are the staggered 17x9 and 17x10 set from LMR.
I got them this last Christmas. I have a two tone sonic blue and silver. They look and fit perfectly on my 87
255/40zr17
Obd1 to obd2 in 96 for the v8's. Only the v6's were obd2
Great vid as always, I love the new edge cars, but my heart is with the 87-93
I'm a Fox guy...I'll just keep my bought new 91' Strawberry Coupe with the stock brake booster lol...
One question...why do the SN95's ride better?
Weight? Spring package? Rigidity?
2 inches per side so 4 inches wider
87 fox for the w
And no verts in any style. Solely personal preference.

The only bad thing is I can't rotate them.
@@iammalloy Noo, I'm talking about the shaft from the steering wheel to the gearbox.
@@MoctezumasRevenge1 Steering shaft connects steering wheel to rack and pinion assembly. Drive shaft connects transmission to rear differential.
Definitely love the Fox! But wouldn’t mind having a Terminator!
They ride better maybe cause they have more weight.
The new edge body style is probably my favorite style..but as for driving the fox just seems more raw..
94 up my knees say hell no.
It doesn't matter what fits both cars. Only one is a Fox. You are just confusing people.
Jesus.....
Foxbody or nobody
🐺🦊🐺🦊 excellent👌
