Something very different this time...
And it's not even close to smooth, sensitive, groovy, accurate, precise or what ever comes to your mind when you think of Dave Weckl. But I still wanted to give it a try.
I can hardly watch the whole video through due to my really silly facial expressions and the lack of control - I'm way outside of my comfort zone during this song...
But anyways,

You re doing metal drummers a great service by being versatile . I hate being pigeon holed as a one trick pony,until I play . Excellent chops ,and playjng period. Another refreshing thing ti see is the use of singer control and proper technique. Could you possibly let us mere mortals know what exercises you use to build up your double bass speed I really enjoyed your playing thanks David.

This is master class stuff, but seems like just a chilled exercise for a guy like Diepold.
Don't worry about being Dave...there can only be one Weckl. Still plenty of you in it. Getting out of your comfort zone can feel great once you dive in (like this video!). Some nice rhythmic shifts throughout the piece.

incredible... what a beast! people seems surprise he can play other kind than technical death but in reality it’s obsvious he can play anything because to be that good and technicly perfect as he is you need to get a solid base or any sort of classical formation where you learn all the theory possible and what a heavy shit load of practice!

Austin Humphrey your not the first person to say he's playing outside his comfort zone. To me he seems quite comfortable.
I meant that he normally plays metal and extreme metal and this is the first time i have seen him play something something as smooth as Dave Weckl. which to me is very cool and interesting and vastly different then what i have seen him play. He did a great job on it as well. I want to have speed and technical like his one day.

I like this type music- Steve Smith plays with Hiromi- you can find them on you tube. I think you can play even better than what you are doing on this video. Would be great if you had a play list with this type music. You do seem amazing- would hope one day you hook up with Hiromi
