@ianyanto123 thanks mate! I'm trying to give a bit of a natural, no nonsense look at airguns and airgunning without any affiliation to a shop or company, so all of my tests and reviews are totally unbiased. If something is sh!t, I'll tell you. Thanks for watching!!!
Very fair review, thank-you. I own an ancestor of this gun, an S400 in .22". Mine has a Lane regulator (no affiliation) and I use it for paper-punching at 25 yards. Earlier this week I shot a "100" with 3 "Xs" (on an NSRA 1989 / 25 yard prone) target. Not too shabby for a 20 year old gun.
Thanks mate, yes I use lane regs in a couple of my guns, they are brilliant. I also have an s400, it's a lovely gun to shoot at 30m for me. Don't get hung up on your gun being 20years old, air arms havnt changed a thing in the modern s400s!
I have the S510R Black, and have been very disappointed with the moderator, as the rifle could never be zeroed, in the end I noted that the baffles were distended, and the mod cannot be dismantled for cleaning/adjustment. I've since fitted a Rowan Engineering Air Stripper, and results have improved, but accuracy is still an issue for 25 yard benchrest.
The S510R is regulated...... I would start there. Air Arms aren't known for regulating their guns, so I would be surprised if they are much good. Thanks for your comments and input mate, much appreciated.
I could never get my S400 to group to my satisfaction with the Air Arms moderator, even when I added an aftermarket regulator. I replaced the moderator with an air stripper from Rowan Engineering (no affiliation) and that has turned it into an absolute tack-driver. Its a bit loud for the garden now but fine at the range. As with everything air gun, your mileage may vary. 😀
I Respect your review and results 👍. I’d personally go for the HW myself, admittedly AA do make some fantastic guns. Like the S200 😂 and they do make a good barrel to 😊 keep up the good work 😊👍
I prefer using the hw100. Like I said about the S510, these 2 guns are very old designs and the companies who build them have been left far behind in terms of technology. I was surprised I managed a 3" group at 75m with it! We now have the BSA R12 in to do!
@stephenthomas6019 thanks buddy. I'll see if I can get hold of one to tale a look at. I'd hope they are brilliant for the amount they cost, but I fear that they are probably about as good as the S510
i had one when they were first released it was accurate but it would dump all of its air after a few shots and the regulator would fail, shot count is not that great and had to get a lower cheek piece as the one that comes with it is too high. Ended up handing it back as lostall faith in it.Hopefully they have ironed out the small niggles now. Great review and a nice range
@mjsmith8741 AA just cover all bases. Their lead alloy is soft, so it's forgiving and they do 4.49 4.50, 4.51, 4.52 And 4.53...... So, in general, when someone says their gun doesn't like jsb, they normally havnt jsbs basic range of maybe 50 pellet types. First thing i do with a gun is a Jsb test. So I try the jumbo diabolos in every size. Note which was the best. Then try the heavies in each size. Note which is the best. Then their express light range and the obscure heavy ones they do. I'll then barrel clean and do the h&n range the same, and the AA and BSA. I would say, that 80+% of the time, it's a jsb which is most precise over all ranges. But, that is with proprlerly nuanced testing, looking at sizes, weights and head shapes. Pellet testing is half of the fun of airgunning!!!
@@Airgunmarksmanofficial My AA S400 .22" shoots pretty well with most pellets. Agreed on H&N FT, JSB Exacts or AA Diabolo Field are also good for metal targets but for paper-punching I haven't bettered RWS Meisterkugeln. Not too easy to get in .22" in the UK though, I bought my last few tins from Portugal.
I just find AA guns totally uninspiring and must be honest have never ever wanted one . Sadly there is nothing in their range worth looking at if you ask me . Shame
Me too, and the fact that their guns haven't really changed in 30years annoys me. When there's guys struggling with small gun companies building much better guns, there's still plenty of old fellas keeping Air Arms afloat.

It's the semi auto that is the advantage you can shoot 10 shots in less than 2 seconds I hit everything with a double tap
I would lend you mine but I'm in south Wales
Are u going to test the BRK Ghost please? Would be great . Huma regulated with a Lothar Walther barrel . Basically , a mechanical Daystate.
I know mate, I've had one before.
Yes, we will have one for testing soon.

@dwcroyals yeah, that seems to be pretty typical buddy!
Thanks for the comment!
Happy shooting!

My 177 AA410 shoots best with H&N FT series of pellets in 4.50 head size. Never got on with JSBs, I know loads of people swear by them.

a hw100 sorted is a tack driver my next go to gun is my sharps ace

BUT they are an ooolllldddd design now, and there are more consistent and accurate guns out there.
I agree with the magazine pellets falling out annoys the hell out of me 😬
It shot really well mate, much better than I expected
