Sorry to hear you didn't catch an R32. You still have plenty of time!!! A helpful quick update to make your catch and hunt for the R32s easier to find: The R32s are now easy to catch. You no longer have to wait until rush hour. Just go during non-rush hour on the J, they will have at least 3-4 sets (R32 trains). During rush hour (7AM to 8:15 AM & 1:30 PM to 5:45 PM), they run like 5 R32 sets for Z skip-stop rush hour service. Good luck trying to catch the 1964-65 Budd. Company R32s (Brightliners) in revenue service on the J/Z lines, GoGo! The R179s will be out of commission for a while, as they undergo engineering inspections, repairs, as well as major hardware upgrades and improvements to the new cars so that an incident like this doesn't happen ever again. Brief backstory: R179s doors opened and closed in early January 2020 while in motion during two separate incidents as it was stopping at the stations, while in early June 2020 the couplers that hold the train cars together got separated from each other and left the other half of the train in the tunnel. Luckily no one was hurt in either incidents. Bombardier is no longer on future MTA NYCT subway contracts. Kawasaki will be delivering the R211s starting in 2020 to 2021 for testing, and then between 2023 and 2025 for revenue (passenger) service.
