Sheet metal would be nice as a backer wall also side walls due to grinders throwing off Sparks followed by countertops needs sheet metal also, French cleats under the countertop would have helped hold the weight that will be on the countertop in the future , love seeing you guys work together we need to teach our children and they will learn if we do it for them they will never learn

Yall should put a sheet metal cap on top of the plywood. It would protect the wood and provide a ground source in case he wants to weld small parts on his bench. Looks great guys!

Boyz let me teach you a quick carpenters trick to be dead on every time. Measure over to a set length, could be 10” or in your case I’d go 5’, make a mark. Now from the other end measure to your 5’ mark add the two together and you have the perfect distance.
