Chrisbuddhamass, love it!
My wife is Christian and my children love Christmas, so I just do what they want
I am a foreign monk (American ) living and practicing as a Buddhist monk in Thailand.
Luckily for me I was able to ordain in an international monastery (Imonastary) where all the Thai monks speak English quite well. They have a 30 day ordination program and a 3 year Monk4life program.
Nothing like fighting over love…
Love it!!
pithy as this was, i would like to believe that there was a part 2 (and more) to that conversation. i would like to believe that a respected monk and dharma teacher would know the multiple significances of this season, this holiday, from beyond a christmas pov, especially the significance and teaching of winter solstice.
why would you like to believe that? wise teachers don't need to know everything on a human level. they may even get some things wrong! seems like YOU have a need to think you know something special that others don't, then you get tsk-tsk their limitation. get over it. get simple.
@ because, at face value, the story Jack tells seems to water seeds of ignorance.
Christmas is to Christians what the Wesak Festival is to Buddhists and Diwali is to Hindus and Hanukah is to Jews and the Winter Solstice is to pagans.
It is the Celebration of Light.
There is only the One Light: the Clear Light of Sunyata.
Why do we need to hung up on labels and differentiations?
There is only One Truth and One Dharma. Why get hung up over religion?
Jesus was not a Christian and Gautama Buddha was not a Buddhist. They both transcended religious identities and are FREE.
Why can we not do the same instead of quibbling about trivial and impermanent matters?
Why can we not simply Celebrate the Light within and without in Total Freedom free of duality?
Isn’t this what Christ and the Buddha both taught?
A rose 🌹 is a rose by any name.
Let us NOT get hung up on names and labels.
G-D and Void are ultimately Nameless are they not?
Just BE in the Such-ness of WHAT IS Here and NOW, and forget the rest.
You are already FREE as the Light of the world. 🌎
So Be IT.

thank you.
Well said!!
Love this! So beautifully expressed. We are all One after all, from the same light.
Yeah all those silly religious people. If only they could be as enlightened as you. Thank you for explaining to them all what they actually believe and setting them straight.

Buddist monk labeled as such ,bowing to a carved buddha. If you speakers who present this advice like a narrator of your own life and lifestyle silently walk away ,only then you will get it...
And yes by typing this im falling in the same trap that you're living.
