Where ever you go your Holiness, the place become sacred and the atmosphere very calm, harmonious and peaceful. You always give us hope and purpose of living. Since you were born in 1935 (89 years back), you have been spending your life only to achieve the wellbeing of others. We are very grateful to you. May you live very long and Peace to prevail everywhere.
I am happy that he so clearly advocates for compassion for animals. Vegan is the way. Consuming dairy, eggs and honey causes just the same suffering and killing.
@namkhatsogyal granted, that "your" chickens will have a relatively better life than the ones in industrial farming. But when we are really looking at this through the lense of compassion, where we must ask ourself what is in the best interest of the other, tell me: Did they choose to live with you? What happened to their male brothers? Do they have any say in you taking their eggs? What would they want for themselves? Would you have any interest in them if you could not take something from them? I am not asking these questions to you to make you different from how you are, only you can choose to do that if you see that is better for everyone, even when you need to let go of something that you enjoy.
@@eb9720 oh you seem to have misunderstood my message. It sounds like you think I am saying, all farm animals should be released now. That would of course not be very wise and I wonder why you responded with this. I asked am individual to explore their relationship to animals. Most humans have a choice in what they eat. In other words, they have 100% control over whether they want to hurt animals with their diet or not. It doesn't matter if specific animals have been bred to a point where they can't survive in the wild. And it not our job to stop all animals from dying in the wild, or do you truely worry about each mouse that is eaten by a cat? That is natural and nature stays in balance this way. It sounds like you think we are somehow doing these farm animals a service by breeding, exploiting and killing them. To protect them from the harsh reality of the wild. We are collectively breeding and killing over 60 billion land animals on earth each year. No other action by humans is creating a larger disbalance to ecosystems. If we really cared for all beings as much as we could, wouldn't we leave them alone? Each person that makes this choice to do their best to not cause harm whenever possible will slowly take away the money animal agriculture needs to exist. And then of course, these animals would slowly stop being forced into existence for our pleasure and we won't have to worry about hordes of animals running wild.
@eb9720 I'm afraid you misunderstood my question. The video is about compassion and the Dalai lama mentions that all beings care about their life. They do not want to be harmed, doesn't matter how relatively nice you care for them while you are exploiting and killing them. Following your logic, human slavery is OK as long as you take good care of your slaves. (a logic that of course was used by slavers to justify this system of exploitation). Today we have come to a point where we reject any idea of ownership over another human outright, but it was a long way till we got there. When it comes to this topic it is very hard to truly ask yourself if you have the well being of the animals in your focus, or if you want to get something from them first and then find a way to justify this with dressing the exploitation up in good gestures and positive labels. We are so conditioned that we can't even imagine to just leave these animals alone, to see them with the same respect as we might see an elephant and that is nobody's fault. But we have a choice to question this way of thinking and to consider doing our best to leave these animals alone. I have worked on the friendliest little family farms to find out about if there is a way to take something from animals without harming them. It's not possible. We will always use force and violence to control their reproduction, their freedom, their life time, etc.
If we all stop consuming honey, the whole world will be destroyed… Bee’s are absolutely necessary and without Beekeepers you would have not a single food on your plant ;) It’s about love and respect, not abstinence. The Dalai Lama eats steak himself, so funny to hear him say something he doesn’t embody.

Plants are "generally" not considered sentient beings - they dont have a mind stream - my understanding therefore is that they dont create karma as such.....
Yes! But I also found that you can suffer problems being a Vegetarian and have found The use of Powered Algaes , I believe Algae is the Future even for Space travel I have heard that they Plan to make Algae Burgers of which I look forward to
Spread of Pure unconditional love requires Vegetarian otherwise it is conditional love /Compassion. The Dalai Lama has under medical condition maybe required to eat.. that his karma in this life unfortunately. Hopefully next life he will be free of it as we all strive for spread of unconditional love/ compassion to all beings ❤
Vitamin D can be obtained from things such as the sun, mushrooms & supplements etc. B12 can be obtained from foods such as water lentils, nutritional yeast, fortified foods and supplements.
u can get these nutrients from many vegetarian sources but even if u cannot.... It would be better for u to live with deficiency for years and maybe die few years earlier than to kill one animal daily to fulfill your need of nutrition.
His Holiness attempted veganism several years ago but developed jaundice and was advised by his physicians to continue occasional meat diet. You check up please.
✨🙏🤗 His Holiness might speak about Vegan lifestyle. Vegetarian food includes eggs and milk products as well. Those animal products are "produced" in mass animal prisons where those sentient beings like cows are systematically raped, male calfs are killed immediately after birth, the sentient beings are tortured and enslaved live long and when they are not "producing" enough milk or eggs they are brutally all killed too. 😢 So only VEGAN food is cruelty free. ✨🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏✨ May all beings benefit 🌹🎉🤗 Long live His Holiness the great 14th Dalay Lama of Tibet! 🌹 Free Tibet! 🌱✌️🤗
In present circumstances.. yes it was not like that in the past. With the advent of commercialisation globalisation it has been increasingly difficult to maintain being a pure vegetarian But life is a journey of many life cycles .. if one can’t either due to medical reasons or deeply rooted desires which one is unable to get rid ( eating eggs or having milk) in self then it is that person’s karama brought into this life. Reborn and reborn several life cycles to achieve the ultimate as Buddha did in his quest for the goal of Nibbana I f you are Vegan then you maybe close to that goal!
One doesn’t necessarily have to become a vegetarian to acknowledge the importance of being a vegetarian. Just like one doesn’t need to become a Buddhist to acknowledge Buddhist teachings.

His Holiness must declare that he does not eat animals or fish. He should go VEGAN as an example to his fellow man of true compassion.
