I have a 2012 C250 Sport model with the Harmon-Kardon 8-speaker "premium" system using the Harmon-Becker amp located in the same left-rear location behind the felt facade. I am now on my third amplifier as the MOSFET/Capacitor blows out every 4 years or so and you suddenly get an alarming loud crack, whizz, pop, and hissing sound even when you turn the CD/Radio off! You must immediately remove fuse #67 located in the right-rear access panel to avoid damage to your speakers until you can replace the amp. A used OEM one can be had on eBay for about $175. It has plug-in connections, so you don't need to cut or splice any wires. The whole removal-replacement should take about an hour or so. (The most time-consuming part is removal of felt facade that covers the left side of the trunk.) These amps seem to have an Achilles Heel with the output transistors but are a lot cheaper to replace with the used ones I mentioned but be prepared to replace then every 3-5 years unless you install a multi-channel aftermarket amp. Thankfully, it is not necessary to re-program the head unit based on my experience with these faltering amps. I would have expected better from Harmon and their Becker-designed and manufactured multi-channel amp.
I have an LOC if I use the wiring for the stock rear deck sub would I be able to disconnect the stock sub wiring from the sub while still using the wire for new subs?
My subs went out in my car 2008 c350. All of a sudden. Still have front and back speakers but no bass and door speakers? Amp got wet maybe? Any idea if I should replace amp
Has the distortion problem been corrected after you changed the amplifier? I have a problem similar to my w211 Logic 7 with ntg1 command. With the engine turned on and the maximum volume, the bass sounds a strange sound from the subwoofer as if it received more power than it can handle. With the engine off, it sounds perfectly at maximum volume as I turn it on.
Do you happen to know if you can use the factory subwoofer to tap in when using a lineout Converter? I’m having a hard time finding the sterio wiring diagram for my 2009 E350
I haven’t yet, still working on the radiator fan, and other maintenance issues. I will keep checking back. Are you in the process of an install? I was worried about the factory sub already having power from the factory amp was the reason I originally asked.
I just bought a w211 320cdi unit works fine but sometimes sound cut out and comes back when he wants to.. checked the fuses all good, any recommendations?
I have c350 2010. And no sound is coming up. If i buy another second-hand amplifier and switch it , do i need a programming , or will it work by just changing it. ?? Please let me know if you know anything
what is the power of the amp if u dont mind me asking? im trying to google it but i cant find any good answers, either its an article longer than the bible or its an article written in other languages. im replacing the center dash speaker because its blown/weak. if i wanna buy a new original one its gonna cost me around a 100 bucks, but i did manage to find a similar 3,1'' mid range driver for a cheaper price, allthough this one of course is newer and aftermarket, and has around 20w rms. i did blow a door speaker and tried replacing it with a hungrier 6.5'' midrange but the sound seemed almost weaker and there was a ground issue where i heard the engine whine coming from that one speaker. so i went to my local junk yard and got an original 6.5'' speaker and all the problems dissapeared. also, my car does not have the harman kardon system, can i buy an harman kardon amp and replace it with my original mercedes amp?
If you don’t mind, can you leave a link or atleast tell us what amp you bought? As the previous guy said, when the engine isn’t running the speakers sound perfect but when the engine is running it sounds like static and white noise. Is that the amp? Thanks for everything loved the video.
I had a system hooked up. I changed my my battrey took out the system every thing worked for a little bit now my sound is static thru blue tooth cds and raido. Do you think if i did this it would fix it?
Mine started with static then went to no sound it’s possible. I confirmed it was the amp by opening and looking at the chips inside one of the chips labeled MOSFET was completely melted
I have the same car, but my amp is corroded. Looking to replace (I have to buy a new amp, so this video has been really helpful) but I also need new speakers cause I somehow managed to blow them. I can't seem to find any factory speakers, so would you recommend JBL since they're owned by Harman/Becker?
Hey Shanice, Sorry about the late reply. I'd recommend looking for a used set on Ebay. Im looking now and seeing whole speaker sets for less than 100 bucks all OEM Harmon Kardon. Samsung is actually the company that owns Harmon Kardon, JBL and AKG. JBL is there entry level brand, Harmon Kardon is the premium brand and AKG is the studio quality equipment. I wouldn't expect the same performance from JBL as Harmon Kardon. JBL does make a quality product thought. Good luck. I hate riding in my car with out music.
@@JustinFrascona is it my amp if I turn the volume all the way up and couple minutes later only the right side plays music .Right side will play music and it will cut off sound to the left. Tried bypassing cd changer, voice control module , and the tele aid module sound would still cut off and only play right side
@@charlievega7597 I swapped out my subwoofer, and found a dead channel on the subwoofer portion of my amp. I also had weird noises while running as other have had, as well as the audio cutting out to only the right side playing. Prior to my new subwoofer install, this was occurring almost daily. After I removed the dead sub channel from play, it hasn’t happened since. Hope this helps.
Question: mine has a disc drive right there. The disc in it is a navigation disc. Which i don't understand, but where would my amp be? Or is that the amp? Cuz I'm trying to put a line output converter on in this wknd to install my system. Ever since I bought this car, I've came across ur channel and its very helpful. Appreciate ya brotha.
If youre throwing subs just grab the high level signal right from the sub. Use an LC2i to convert the signal so you can offset how the stock system lowers the bass as the volume increases. You’ll be able to plug in remote wire and rcas directly to the lc2i
@@JustinFrascona Got the LC2i already (check my channel out if you'd like) but won't I only get 1 channel off the factory sub? I'm gonna remove it so bass air flow can get into the car easier.
The line you are tapping into is a dedicated sub signal, so you only need one channel. Similar to how double dins have that dedicated one channel for your sub amp. You could grab from passenger speakers and get right and left but you’d need to filter more of the signal. I wired up a c class like this with 2 jlw3s came out perfect.
