I've been riding for almost 30 years and I live in the snowbelt and I'd never consider trying to ride in that snow/ice! You have balls of steel! Glad you made it out safely! Great job documenting it all! Well done!
The thing I enjoy most about your videos - and it goes back to the American tour for me - is your total immersion in the enjoyment of every little moment. It's great.
Richy that was “bloody nerve wracking”, on the edge of my seat holding on for dear life. The “Big Lad” did ya proud, very impressed with the AT. Very kind words spoken about Her Majesty, we loved her dearly in the States. Thanks again, “You Da Man” ice riding in Scotland. 👍🏼 😎 🇺🇸 🌎
I grew up within cycling distance of Balmoral as a teenager and once swam in the Castle boat pool as a girlfriend lived on the estate and had full access when the queen was not in residence. The road passing the Lecht ski center I drove one Boxing day and it was equally snowy and clear blue sky's but Minus 16 degrees. Luckily I was driving a 4x4 at the.time My heart was in my mouth most of the way with you. One April a few years back I took my 125 trail bike from Glasgow to Aberdeen via Glenshee Ski resort above Balmoral Castle and I realised nearing the top in a snow storm that the road had iced up and I know exactly how you felt but you did many more miles than me as once I got down the other side the roads were fine. The only thing was when I next stopped I dropped my bike as I dismounted and to save my embarrassment I had only just righted it as a group of big bikes passed. I am sure they would have stopped to help but it saved my blushes and certainly wouldn't have been as heavy as your bike. I look forward to the next installment.
I would never and will never consider riding in conditions like this. But no one can deny the stunning beauty you took in and captured on this journey. Thank you for sharing. I also really appreciate the gratitude you express along your journey to the places, people and things along the way. Just when I think your head isn’t screwed on straight you show us that you very much do. Cheers!
A total pleasure to watch Richy, some stressful times for sure, Risky roads....but you really made this such a joy too watch absolutely stunning scenery, a real adventure the BIG question where too next !!!! where ever it will be great for sure. Regards Glenn.👏👏👍👍
And breath... That was one intense ride. And that was just watching from a comfy chair. Hats off to you Rich. Think I'd have been back in the hotel until spring! Brilliant tour with some excellent photography. Very pleased you kept it shiny side up. Cheers matey.
OMG my stomach was in knots! So happy you and the big lad made it back safely, thank you for bringing us all such an amazing adventure, you have done what most of us mortals dare not!!
That little twitch you had when the van passed...that got me going. They don't look much on camera but that little split second of Zero G is exactly the same as the start of a drop. It's terrifying.
Stomach churning stuff. I could not believe you left the A9 and headed down the scenic route. Glad you made it safely and and something you will never forget. Makes your off road stuff look easy haha.
When I seen you were on the A96 leaving Inverness, I thought hes heading over the hills. I did think you wouldn't make it. Brave man or something else.
That was one scarey journey Richy.!!! Done that exact route a week or so after you and I was in car gripping wheel like a maniac and that was a Quattro !! Hats off to you mate 👍👍👍 superb scenery and still pics brilliant .
Omg my nerves are jangled, 34 years I have been riding, and I can't help but be impressed at your cool calm skills. I would not have attempted what you have done. Most impressive, keep it up, and thank you for your content.
I remember riding over the Shap fells in winter back in the late seventies on an MZ TS 250, I followed the snow plough a couple of times, which saved my day back then, being stuck 1100 feet above sea level and no cars or help around is not for the faint hearted, loved the ride, well done.
I"m so glad you showed the fantastic stills at the end, as I was not able to enjoy the views during the ride, as I was scared to take my eyes off the road.😵💫. Thanks Richy a great ride.
Rich’ - incredible!!! You are a brave man but now have memories that will live with you. My heart was in my mouth and I was just watching your video … and the views … OMG! What a series sir. All the best. Simon.
a tribute to your skills and honda. not much traffic helped. after watching your iceland trip i knew you could do it. you've inspired me to take mine out with a lot of snow on the ground [but not in the road today] . snowy climates keep the crowds down.
You are incredibly mad, and madly incredible. If there was any justice you would have a million subscribers. Would love to see you do a trip with old TeaPotOne up there...just the two of you.
It's testament to the quality of the video and having read some other comments as I type, I'm confident I speak for many when I say it was if we (the viewer) were riding at times. The gut tingling moments were real, bang goes my dry February🥃! Top stuff Richy, well done.
Another cracking series. Should be a TV series. You really do put together some great footage & tell a good story along the way. Oh and yeah I was a little nervous too at times! Keep it going Richy. On to the next one…!
Watching this series, you've had me on the edge of my seat, thank God you made it safe. RIP EIIR Beautiful words and views. Wish i was with you on my Kawasaki GTR1400.
Amazing ride, loved every second. It’s getting our minds ticking, ready to go up ourselves sooner than we thought thanks to yourself. Much appreciated.
well done Richy a few sixpence half a crown moments in that one and you are home safe. Nice to see you paid your respect to HRH at Ballmorale as a veteran she was the best Boss I ever served under for 23 yrs cheers. Right just waiting for your new long term bike now and to see how you get on with it as I am running a 2022 Strom XT Tour. 🤔 Oh well done the big man.
Yet another great series of videos Richy, had my heart in my mouth for most of that one 🥶🥶 fair play to you mate. Keep them coming bud, looking forward to the next adventure 👍👍
Good effort Richy. Great feeling walking in the slush with yer bike gear on knowing if you fall on yer erse you can just jump up and carry on like a Boss!
That was a hell of a ride Rich, all of it!! What stunning images you saw and filmed, glad your face didn’t “snap off”!! Simply amazing, you are a legend mate. Thank you👍👍
Curses, Richy. I wanted a relaxing video with a glass of wine instead I was sh1tting mesen expecting you to stack it. I’ve posted before that I’ve never ridden a motorbike in my life but, as a road cyclist, I can appreciate the quality of kit you’re wearing. It makes all the difference in weather like that. Another brilliant vlog. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Hats off to you and Big lad Like watching a tense thriller Your experience and preparation for this trip shows. After a shit year for me, family and friends who have nursed me back from a near fatal accident.if i can get back in the saddle at some point.im going to make the effort to find you and shake your hand. Lifes too short not to do the one thing we love. Riding motorcycles. Its been an amazing trip and thanks for sharing it with us all. As ever safe Travels👍
Hats off to you Richy…you’re the Man…after that epic winter ride..balls of steel mate. Have ridden that route a couple of times but not at the time of year that you did.Well done!
Wow, that was exhausting to watch let alone be actually riding in those conditions. Brilliant episode and a fantastic series. Well done and thanks for making such superb content. 👏👏👏👏
Absolutely amazing Mr RV You and the big lad have done it again You are both officially nuts Well done for yet another great trip and thanks for taking us with you
I thought it might be your final journey once or twice! Amazing footage and a lesson on how to negotiate ice and snow on a motorcycle. Thanks for taking us along!
well done to the big lad getting you home and to richy fantastic series yet again loved every one.....you have more guts than me .i take my hat off to you MR VIDA.
The Dava Moor road (snow gates closed, no overnight gritting) is a great one on the bike...in summer. Stick it on your list for your return trip. That Tomintoul - Braemar road is one of the first to be closed in winter. Nice road in the summer though.
You are one seriously hard arsed dude riding in that. When Big Lad slipped while that van was passing I nearly shat myself, my stomach was doing somersaults. Glad you made it back safely
Wow very inspirational and Fantastic photography, I've been watching your UA-cam channel from the early days (isle of man trip...lol) You just keep on pushing the boundaries and nice to see your still very humble, God bless you Richy your the Man ...👊
Edge of the seat stuff. An amazing ride in conditions 90%of us wouldnt ride in. If I ever meet you I'll buy you a single malt and a beer. Thanks what an adventure.
Well done, that was stressful to watch 😂 I live in Aberdeenshire and I would think twice about driving in the car over the Lecht in the snow, nevermind on a motorbike! Some beautiful scenery though and enjoyed your video
Wow, I've travelled the same route a couple of times in rain and snow but never on my bike always in the Land Rover. Glad you made it safe, some squeaky bum time that day for sure.
Fair play Richy, I'm from that neck of the woods and it's bad enough over Tomintoul in the rain!!! Lol your nuts fella 🤣 But it is beautiful in the winter from this side of the lens 😉👌🏻🏴 Awesome wee trip bud 👍🏻
Cairngorms in the snow ❄️… bonkers Richy … makes for a great video though .. and the scenery is amazing as always in my country 🏴🏍… love watching your adventures 😎
Well done Richy, again you had my heart racing as I remembered my winter riding and at the same time reminding me of the winter conditions of growing up in Scotland, you know how to make an old man (72) jealous, Ps, my bike rebuild's coming on so soon be on the road.
Wouw. We where sitting on the edge of the seats, concentrating on the road, seeing all that snow and ice 🧊 😮. We had to watch this episode for a second time to enjoy the scenery 😆you and the big Lad did it 🥳yeah well don. 🙋♀️🙋♂️🏍️🏍️
I have just sat and binged watched the series so far Richy, We stayed in tomintoul last year and know how bad that road is in 25C let along -5!!, When you turned onto it I was shouting at the Screen for you to turn round as i knew what was coming but so pleased you didnt! You never fail to create a masterpiece and I cant wait for the next.
Another awesome video which continues to fill me with the direct sense of 'having been there' because of you. And I still remain so ****ing envious of your motorcycle lol.... I'm just too short!! :)
I was exhausted just watching that! I was clenching so bad (especially when you had to ride over that narrow, frozen, humpback bridge) that I now have glutes of steel, so thanks for that😁. Enormous well done to you👍🏼
I agree with you, you must have issues but I think we all have as we love our bikes. I'm glad I wasn't holding my coffee when you had that wobble I jumped also, and very glad your okay. Thanks again for the video ❤❤
My hubby and I loved watching this series. We did the scenic route last summer and loved seeing it in the snow. Just glad you made it home in one piece with no mishaps on the ice.
Rich - I’ve watched this series from start to finish while in bed on late New Year’s Day. It’s now 05:45 and still wide awake. I know well the area you’ve covered here. What a trip, what wonderful scenery and what an artist you are! Thank you so much for this - I appreciate how close you were to disaster - it’s left me and I would guess many others inspired! Yours aye, Alan
you drove verry good, i drove on snow once 2 and it was verry tence when you ride on the highway at 120km/u and all of a sudden 3cm of snow, big respect to you and thanks for the awesome vids, keep it safe
Well done! Can’t believe you went over the lecht with all that snow! But it is a fantastic road to ride on, I’ve done it many times on bikes cars and vans
We’ll done mate! I think all of us at home were as glad to see that Doubletree as you were, now we can all relax! I live in the upper Midwest in the US and we get snow about 6 months of the year, and I’d never do that.
Incredible journey, I have traveled these roads so many times on my motorbikes over the last 30 years. I knew exactly what corner was next! Never have I experienced the very special experience you captured. I truly thank you for this special, special video. No one loves Scotland more than me, We are very lucky. I rode to Braemar last Sunday and up to where the Discovery driver gave you advice but you captured extremely special conditions on two wheels. Massive congratulations 👌👌👏👏👏👏
Bloody hell Rich you had me and Dawn on the edge of our seats again your giving Guy Martin a run for his money with these adventures 🤣🤣🤣👍🏻, awesome mate what stunning views and quality footage as always 👌
I can't imagine how many drivers would have muttered "idiot" or "madman" when they saw you coming! An intrepid ride Richy with some incredible views, kudos to you sir and thank you so much for bringing it to us!
Well done that man. I'd rather ride in deep snow than a wet icy surface, though as a youngster with no other form of daily transport I/we didn't have any choice if you needed to get to work etc. We definitely didn't have the superb riding kit then as we have now. Jeez the amount of times I arrived at destination almost in tears of frozen agony. Old BSAs, Ariel, James etc. Happily still riding almost 60yrs later. I'll continue until mates won't lift me on and off bike.🤣 Spain, France this year to follow the Tour de France stage by stage. I did the Manx and then about 7 weeks covering Ireland last year. Did months riding NZ 4yrs ago so I'm not doing too bad for an old geezer. Enjoy ing your ride too Richie. 👍
Wow! What an incredible trip! I live not far from Grantown-on-Spey and when I saw you rock up at Tomintoul and turn off for the Lecht, I was papping it for you! Those roads are amazing when it’s not icy! Sh1te myself when you had the first wobble with the van. 🤢💩 Fair play to you, Richy. Thanks for bringing us along. Hope you get back when the weather is better! 🤘🏻🏍💨
I very rarely comment on videos, but I found this truly compelling. The quiet drama was both unsettling and inspiring in equal measure. One of the very best pieces I've watched on UA-cam for a long time. Well done and glad you made it back in one, somewhat icy, piece. 👍
Just sat and watched the whole series on the big screen so popped back to leave you some comments and all I can say is bloody amazing, and I’m now really contemplating a big lad for my next bike top man 🙏😎🤟
You've got mad skills! Even with studded tyres, it's not just grip, it's balancing on that ice... And that bloody van following so close! Waving him pass almost unbalanced you🙄... Even with feet down moving slowly in a car park, one slip and that big heavy bike can go down! At least your heated clothes & gloves kept you warm, except for the open visor! Maybe the manufacturers can make visors with heating elements...Stay safe stay healthy.
It's great.
Thanks for that Sully! I just like to try and fully appreciate where I am whilst I’m there!
Amazing videos yet again buddy.
Welcome to my playground.
Gairnshiel Bridge (32:50) looked hair-raising with all that ice 😳

Stunningly beautiful scenery in the snow…. but not good for the nerves when you’re on two wheels! Well done 👏
It's testament to the quality of the video and having read some other comments as I type, I'm confident I speak for many when I say it was if we (the viewer) were riding at times. The gut tingling moments were real, bang goes my dry February🥃! Top stuff Richy, well done.

Dry February??? The shortest month.... I see what you did there! 😂😂

Mate massive respect - that’s my backyard you’re riding in, there’s no chance whatsoever we’d be out in that weather. Mental!
Amazing concentration, that only takes a lot from you! Enjoyed it but more importantly, you made it back home safely 🙏🏾

I’d love to have the opportunity to create something with a big budget! 🙌
The Dava Moor road (snow gates closed, no overnight gritting) is a great one on the bike...in summer. Stick it on your list for your return trip. That Tomintoul - Braemar road is one of the first to be closed in winter. Nice road in the summer though.

The views of the snow covered scenery was fantastic Rich 😮
Very well done mate. That was an incredible watch, but a very uncomfortable one. We need more people like you to do the things we don’t.

Huge congratulations on safely completing that trip Richy. You need a Blue Peter badge for that one.
That would be cool! Cheers Karl
I can't imagine how many drivers would have muttered "idiot" or "madman" when they saw you coming! An intrepid ride Richy with some incredible views, kudos to you sir and thank you so much for bringing it to us!
Very good filming, you could tell the concentration on your riding by your voice ,over them icey roads, and no Teapotone in sight.well done.Manxman 🇮🇲👍
OMG when you had your moment I nearly fell of my chair I was so into the trip, glad you made it home safe.
Great ride - great content as always - very watchable 👍🏻
Glad you saw it, Thomas 👍👍
I very rarely comment on videos, but I found this truly compelling. The quiet drama was both unsettling and inspiring in equal measure. One of the very best pieces I've watched on UA-cam for a long time. Well done and glad you made it back in one, somewhat icy, piece. 👍
Thank you for making the comment, James. I love your description. All the best and thanks again 👍
Just sat and watched the whole series on the big screen so popped back to leave you some comments and all I can say is bloody amazing, and I’m now really contemplating a big lad for my next bike top man 🙏😎🤟
Thanks for dropping in, mate! Hope you’re all good!
Your a special dude. Richy. Peace brother..
Still great driving by you on these icy roads, and a great experience richer
