Carl Yastrzemski what can do I say about you this great man .... he gave me the greatest times when I was a kid . He also made me Love this game like only a kid could love this game.. Carl Yastrzemski made me love this game called baseball now I as looks back on my own personal life, he not only helped me become a huge fan of the game but made me see what dedication was supposed to be in my own life. .... Thank you Carl Yastrzemski for everything that you have done for me ..
From NY, and rooted for underdogs all the time. Wanted Boston to win in 67, and in the 70’s and the admiration and respect for Yaz was one of the biggest reasons. You could always tell he took the game seriously, no foolishness, like many, and did always give it 110%. Never to be forgotten prince of baseball and of character.
Great player with class! Like his voice. I grew up in Cincinnati. He made the last out in 1975 world series but I knew if he had 3 at bats in that sutuation, one of them would have been a home run - that is my opinion
it was real tough for me in N.Y.C. to be a Red Sox fan in the late 70s but when I mentioned that Carl Yastrzemski was my favorite ball player everyone respected me
I'm from Ny, Long Island, like Yaz. While I was and am a Yankees fan, I always admire and respect Yaz. When I was very young I did root for Boston in 67 and 75. My team wasn't there and Carl's was. And he was in his prime. Triple Crown winner, MVP all-star, Hall of Famer and A class act!
Yaz was my boyhood favorite...I'll always have a soft spot for him. How I wish they could have won in '67 or '75. The photo of Yaz after they won the pennant in '67, in the locker room with the champagne flowing warms my heart, especially seeing the sheer joy and exuberance of Yaz. He was always so buttoned down with his emotions, especially to the public. He just never seemed comfortable. I don't know if he's ever been willing to participate in the VIP suite at Fenway to hang with fans, like Petrocelli or Fisk and others. Even at signings he seems pretty restrained, like he'd just as soon have it over with...I believe he prefers his privacy. He's gotta know the fans adored him...maybe too much?
It was too bad he did not win a World Series with the Red Sox. He was the top hitter in both the 1967 and 1975 WS. Him and Jim Rice were my favorite Red Sox players.
As good as it gets in Boston. As much as I love Papi. And I do. Yaz with 450 plus HRs...3400 plus hits. Elite hall of famer. Even in his old age. Still passionate. Still Yaz
Just reflecting, imagining what it must have been like to be Yaz that day. Imagine the life lived where at your Hall of Fame induction ceremony, you are thanking Ted Williams, who is sitting among your peers.
He's said he would've played again in 1984 had he known how good Roger Clemens would've been as a rookie, just so he could be a teammate with him. What a guy.
Carl Sr took Carl Jr to several MLB parks, and he told Jr that Fenway was the best choice. Carl Jr initially disagreed but he soon figured out that his dad was right.
Yaz looks like a chip off the old block. It looked like his old man could still play a pretty good game of ball. And apparently he could really bring it in his younger years "...Carl played on sandlot baseball teams with his father, who, he maintains, was a better athlete than he was..." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Yastrzemski
It was great to have his dad still around at the time. A man with true class!
Head over heels above some of these showboats on the field these days.
Even his speech was a homerun!
I grew up in a small Massachusetts town and my two heroes were bobby orr and carlyastrzemski. Great ball player
greatest left fielder ever!!!
What a modest speech, said with perfection, honesty, and integrity, GOD bless you yaz.👍👉⚾👈👍
You have to be a real man to give a real speech like that.

What a joy to watch such a great ball player. "Every day I put on the Red Sox uniform, I gave 100%". King Carl.
Carl Yastrzemski was a class act, of few if any equals.
And when he hit a home run he didn't act like God's gift to baseball.

Thank You Yaz...God Bless You. #8 Yaz Man....Red Sox Forever.....
CARL YASTRZEMSKI JUST HIT A GRAND SLAM HOME RUN WITH THIS IMPECCABLE HALL OF FAME SPEECH.

@@waynej2608 I like your comment ✌️
Ted Williams's heir to greatness. Still a Boston fan favorite 25 years later!
@jesusisnotallright s you are a complete piece of shit. Congratulations you pile of fucking garbage.
jesusisnotallright s you sack of heavy diarrhea
What a great speech.

Wonderful player. Absolutely the tops.

love the yaz, lol, he got thru this speech like he got thru his baseball career, he put his head down and bulldogged his way thru it.
Yankee fan myself, Carl was the best Red Sock since Ted and Jimmy! RIP Buckner; David Ortiz vindicated you! Last full Triple Crown winner!
"Full" triple crown?
A true inspiration. The man they call Yaz.
Pure hard work twice as hard as other physically blessd players .to achieve the hall of fame is the ultimate.
The man who owned the Fenway left field.
I got to see Yaz play in Texas - his last season he was 43 years old
On the 8th day God created Yaz a great player. One of my favorites even growing up a Reds fan. Yaz was special!!!

Now his grandson Mike Yastrzemski is playing for the San Francisco Giants and he's doing well
Mike Yaz is what brings me here. This series in Boston is more than about baseball between Mike and Carl Yastrzemski.
@2:15 Ted Williams with the MLB Hall of Fame Jack Nicholson energy.
Will always be my favorite player!
He's said he would've played again in 1984 had he known how good Roger Clemens would've been as a rookie, just so he could be a teammate with him. What a guy.
TMK 22, Yaz never said that. Clemons was a juicer and Yaz greatly disliked juicers.
Brawo Panie Jastrzębski! Kapitalne przemówienia z pierwszej półki. Klasyk.
Yaz!!!!!!!!!
Love the Yaz

long island boy2

killer career -cheers
Chris Yaz Love this NY Long Island boy!
Yaz was a demigod
My favourite bosox guy. So handsome
Carl Sr took Carl Jr to several MLB parks, and he told Jr that Fenway was the best choice. Carl Jr initially disagreed but he soon figured out that his dad was right.
TED WILLIAMS IN THE HOUSE
Yaz could have been elected just for his month of September 1967 alone.
Great clutch hitter, but even better defensively
Loud boos when Yaz mentioned Bob Stanley. I guess the bottom of the 10th in Game 6 of the '86 Series was still fresh in the minds of Sox fans in '89.
I didn't hear them
@@Robert-qm5so At the 1:39 to 1:40 mark. It may have only been a few, but they were loud enough to notice.
@@jgowin66 it sounded like they were cheering , but if you say so , okay
A very good player for the Boston Red Sox
Was there, big cardinal fan presence.
Mike jr and his dad look identical.
Here after Mike’s splash Grand Slam
👍☺
This makes me want to make a sandwich with some BIG YAZ bread.
The only good thing to come from New York...ever

Yikee. Probably wishes he hadnt thanked pink higgins
Awsome. But Rose was much better
And shortly after that, he kicked Carol to the curb.
before the divorce from Carol Ann
did not care much about him ....VAIN AS THEY COME !
Sounds kind of personal, but to each it's own
