But the fact that Simon was basically the main point of view for most of this book just made me so happy because he's like my favorite character, he is my child, a little shit for most of the book but the least problematic in the series so far and I love him
LOOK AT ALL OF YOUR SHADOWHUNTER THINGS IM SO PROUD so excited to hear your thoughts about cols omg "i liked the conflict between jace and clary in this book" lmao just you wait I SEE YOU BROTHER ZACHARIAH alec drives me crazy until book 6 honestly when are you reading cols bc it's my fav and i need to know your opinions on it like yesterday
I forgot who Brother Zahariah was when I read the book! I just remember now! I always feel sad when I think about the trio from the Infernal Devices Deries.
I literally just finished fallen angels last night. It was very good in my opinion but for gods sake how many more problems can Jace and Clary have???? It's driving me insane! Lol, seriously.
City of Fallen Angels was my least favorite book in the series for me. It was just different. Simon kept me going with this book. Lots of character development for him!
I love that you are doing these as I'm reading the series. I'm reading them in publication order though so now that I've finished this one I'm onto clockwork prince.
I'm so excited about you reading the rest of TMI! :D YAY, FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE WHO LOVES THE SEALIE QUEEN. She's a horrible person but I kinda think she's really interesting! omg, yas, simon and jace banter book, lmao. CLARYBERRY
I love how all your thoughts were similar to mine xD Also I like how you kept your review and thoughts super positive! I've been seeing so much negativity towards the books and the show that it's really been grating on me and seeing your positive reactions really gave me some hope that not the whole fandom has gone down hill.
"So they go to the Silent Bros and they're like 'Yo wassup with Jace?!'" Omg Jesse can you please re-write the books like that ? That would be hilarious xD
@@kaitlyncarroll3314 right? there were couples that I really got invested in like magnus and alec, emma and julian, tessa and jem and will, etc but clary and jace were just kinda the main couple for me. They were cute I guess but I just couldn't love them as much as the other couples.
I think Simon was the character that kept me reading this installment. Maybe it will change when I read the rest of the series, but for whatever reason I really didn't like Clary in this book (except with her badassery near the end).
My favourite moment was when Clary was trying to convince Jace that him hurting her was not his own fault but Lilith's... It just set my heart on fire it was so sweeet❤
Alec's attitude frustrated me a lot in this book because Malec is my ultimate otp, but nothing compares to what he does in City of Lost Souls he really made stupid decisions where I just felt like throwing my book at the wall..... Actually I did that..... My reading gets intense sometimes x)
Now you get to go through the craziness of city of lost souls! City of lost souls and city of heavenly fire are my favorite books out of the series. I hadn't read TID until after I read city of lost souls and was waiting for city of heavenly fire to come out, so you can imagine my surprise when the whole Brother Zachariah thing came out. I was pretttttttyyy surprised.
The way Cassie writes the dialogue for the faeries is breath taking. I reread every scene with members of both seelie courts. I loved this book but I'm biased to the series and would not say anything but good things. The part with Simon's mom, so heart breaking!! I wanted to slap the blue out of Alec's eyes when he set Camille free! I hope you like City of Lost Souls!
I agree with you and I loved your review. I think you could say that we hit rock bottom in City of Fallen Angels but Cassandra equally rises the book series again like Raziel rose from Lake Lyn ;) PS: I love your shirt! :)
+Shrey Dodball I enjoyed all of them I haven't read the first 5 mortal instruments books in along time and I still gotta read city of heavenly fire. and I enjoyed the infernal devices trilogy to.
City of Fallen Angels...more like City of ALEXANDER GIDEON LIGHTWOOD WHAT THE FRICKETY FRACK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?!?!?! xD and City of Lost Souls should be called "ALEXANDER GIDEON LIGHTWOOD WHAT THE FRICKETY FRACK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?!?!?!?! part 2" :P
I've had this series on my shelf for a couple of months now and I haven't been letting myself read it because I have so many unfinished series... But I'm thinking about picking it up soon. I already read the infernal devices-WHICH I LOVED- and I'm hoping that these live up to those high expectations! :)
Im currently on City of Lost Souls and city of fallen angels was my least favourite one besides city of bones aswell, I have the same order from best to worst like you do. I didn't like how Jace acted in this book at all. Like they have everything that they ever wanted but they just can't be happy for once. I thought that after they know, that he isn't Clary's brother they could finally be happy. And it kinda annoys me that Cassandra Clare just seems to come up with a new bad guy after the old one is dead. Valentine dies and there is Sebastian. Sebastian seems to die and there's Lilith.. I'm not a big fan of romantic novels and it just annoyed me how everybody in this book has a relationship problem. I need to see how CoLS developes, because as of now, I think it would have been better if Cassandra Clare stopped after the third one.
I definitely agree with you when you when you say this book took longer to get started, I still liked it tho.. I agree with all your comments, Luke and Clary conversation really annoyed me.. Jocelyn and Luke kept her from this world and they expect her to know how to control her powers.. I can't wait to see what you think about the city of lost souls..
I read the books so quickly two years ago and I've forgotten a lot. I've been wanting to reread it but I have no time to commit to that, there's just so many other new books!
it's been a while since I read the books, but I remember liking the first 3, but not the last 3, I remember thinking - ohhh - shes just writing more books to get more money. Know, that you said that Casandra Claire said to think of the last three books as a separate series - it kinda makes sense. :) Cuz, I liked the way book 3 ended. lol. :) I haven't read anything else by her, but I'm thinking about picking up the Bane Chronicles, just because I' really into Malec. :)
So I've had my doubts about Jace and Clary together, mostly because for a while we all though they were related but in this book i hated Jace, he ignored her and never communicated with her properly, and that scene at Simons show where they make out in the alley pissed me off so much because you don't just do that! Ignore your girlfriend, hurt her and then magically make it all okay by pushing her against the wall and kissing her! That's now how relationships work!
I actually like the infernal devices more that TMI. I just thought TMI series dragged and dragged on and on but when I read clockwork angel I was in love.
Our opinions on this are essentially the same omg However, I did feel the problems that arose in Clace's relationship felt a bit redundant, like "wow, something is making their love forbidden, AGAIN." really glad I'm not the only one who felt a bit conflicted about this book :)
While you read City of Lost Souls you should listen to "How it Ends" by Beth Crowley. She does songs based on books and that one is based on CoLS. I love your channel btw!!!
I'm currently reading city of lost souls, city of fallen angels has been my least fav book in the series, may be its because of the wierd dreams Jace were having but I love the entry of Lilith though
I was wondering if I should read this book...I got so bored at the beginning I dropped it. But let me tell you SPOILERS MOTIVATES ME! So, thank you so much...love you
i felt the exact same about Clary and Jace. i didn't really like them together in the first three books, but in this book i really liked them a lot. also, you seem to dislike Camille a lot in this book. i read clockwork princess right before i read this book, and based on what i learned about her in that book, how she willingly helped the Shadowhunters on multiple occasions and even risked her life by betraying her kind, so i was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt in this book. she also said that she would never have come up with the idea to kill Shadowhunters herself, but since it was Lilith that asked her to do it, she knew Lilith would make a better friend than enemy.
I need ShadowHunter merch IMEDIATELY. I HATED what Clare did to Alec. The gay couple was the most stable thing- oh wait. Nevermind!! It made no sense for Alec to be all jealous. Magnus should've opened up more to him, but Alec should've calmed down.
Hi Jesse! I know this isn't related to the video, but my other account by the same username was terminated two days ago :( Do you have any advice on getting back into booktube? :) -Dylan
Guys idk if I'm the only one who thinks this but tbh I kind of low-key ship Jace and Simon. I mean don't get me wrong, I hardcore ship sizzy and clace but still....
Honestly I forget what happens in each book and the whole series kind of blends together for me now.. Also yes Sizzy is my OTP in this series! I wasn't a huge fan of Clace honestly. I don't dislike Malec but Magnus is my favorite character and I'm not that fond of Alec in the books so I don't know I'm kind of conflicted about them.
"Thankfully 'my queen' Isabelle steps in and shows that demon what's good. " So you really have a crush on Isabelle 😂I gotta say I appreciate your choice
This was actually the book that convinced me to continue with the rest of the series. I don't like Clary, and by CoG I was soooo tired of Clace. I literally stuck around for Simon. I prefer the last 3 books to the original trilogy.
I think i liked this one less than i did city of bones. It’s likely cause i came to it after reading TID and it’s just... not anywhere close to the level of goodness that TID is. Brother Zach was the highlight. But i read this in a day and i compare it to like ripping off a bandaid. Let us get it over with lol. Meh.
I love the whole series .There is so many great things that happen in the last three books.More time with the characters.Such a rollercoaster ride.Alec bugs the heck out of me.I don't ship Malec cause I don't like him.Love Magnus though.Clace I love them so much.Sizzy is an odd couple but I love them.

I SEE YOU BROTHER ZACHARIAH
alec drives me crazy until book 6 honestly

Alec is my baby. Be nice to him.
Kaitlyn Carroll yeah be nice to my cinnamon roll
Protect the CHILD
I forgot who Brother Zahariah was when I read the book! I just remember now!
I always feel sad when I think about the trio from the Infernal Devices Deries.
brother zachariaaaahhhhh 💖💖💖
does anyone else feel like this book was "dirtier" then the first three?
Definitely, also darker
stavr 1 Yes definitely, more mature approach. Clare’s right these are separate trilogies
The 1st book was released 4 years before this one. The target audience has grown up a lot more
I literally just finished fallen angels last night. It was very good in my opinion but for gods sake how many more problems can Jace and Clary have???? It's driving me insane! Lol, seriously.
that's exactly why I don't like those characters! too much drama!
and more to come
Oh I'm sure, lol.
+Steve Trowbridge there is SO much more problems between Clary and Jace in Lost Souls...
shannon rose Oh I believe it.
Ooh! I had read TID before TMI and I was SO SHOCKED when I saw Brother Zachariah in TMI!
Same!!
"No spoilers but, I see your brother zachariah. i see you"
you spoiled tid jesse 😭
No, he didn't, he didn't explain why he pointed brother zachariah out. It could mean anything to someone who has yet to finish CPcess
City of Fallen Angels was my least favorite book in the series for me. It was just different.
Simon kept me going with this book. Lots of character development for him!

YAY, FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE WHO LOVES THE SEALIE QUEEN. She's a horrible person but I kinda think she's really interesting!
omg, yas, simon and jace banter book, lmao.
CLARYBERRY
I love Simon and Jace's banter haha
I love the part where it said SPOILER TIME the pics were hilarious
You go Clary Berry! You Gooooooo! Jesse you're my spirit animal
I love how all your thoughts were similar to mine xD

brother zachariah..... ahhhh clockwork princess
You are on a reading roll Jesse! Awesome review!
Great review Jesse!
I still think Simon was the most fun part of the book. Clary and Jace were very dull. :/
That bit about Alec tho... same. I ship Malec forever, but Alec... chill out, man, drink a cup of water
Everyone who reads this series seem so obsessed with 'Malec' but then there's me.
Me too, they were kinda just there for me.
that's how I feel about Clace

Mmmmmm......... can't relate
Me too. Iam all into Sizzy ❤️✨
I just finished this book today and while it wasn't my favorite of the series I still loved it. I can't wait to read Lady Midnight
The title of this video should definitely be "Sexy Times Gone Bad". xxD
The mortal instruments is one of my all time favorite serieses, I had forgotten how much I love these characters. This review reminded me.
oh my god, I just finished readinh city of fallen angels and I saw our video pop out in my notifications bar. Just in time, Jesse!
+madalena r (stylesuck3r) my favourite moment was when Jace and Simon where at the mall and Jace said that those girls whanted to touch his mango
Dude, I love watching your reviews. You are just so enthusiastic
I think Simon was the character that kept me reading this installment. Maybe it will change when I read the rest of the series, but for whatever reason I really didn't like Clary in this book (except with her badassery near the end).
it took me a second to realize you called Clary ,Clary berry lol
My favourite moment was when Clary was trying to convince Jace that him hurting her was not his own fault but Lilith's... It just set my heart on fire it was so sweeet❤
Aside from the book... your shirt is soooo cool!!! where's it from??? I've been searching everywhere :/

My least favourite. Yeah. I enjoyed it, but it was my least favourite. 😂
That's my favorite on the TMI *o*

This is my least favorite in the entire series, I think it was all the Simon. but City of Lost Souls ended up over taking CoG as my favorite.
Please do the city of lost souls!!!!!!
Do you watch the tv show?
Brilliant book and brilliant video ❤️
Lilith was such cool chararcter

I just find this series dragging. City of Glass should be the conclusion.
I actually liked City of Fallen Angels better than the first three.
I'm still reading this book and it has taken me so long...
I agree this one was a little slow, but the next two books are probably my favorite in the series.
"Thankfully 'my queen' Isabelle steps in and shows that demon what's good. "

Honestly, I hate that Jocelyn didn't want Clary to get training.
I literally finished this book in a day
Everyone loves malec buuttt I'm somewhere in between
SIZZY
Anyone notice when Jace was with the Silent Brothers he found the JG initials that had been carved in? Not 100% sure but I think whoever has read the Infernal Devices knows who did that
jacqueline garcia jessamine?
Jessamine Gray!!!
When I finished reading this book, I was so angry that I wanted to throw it at the wall.
Sounds like an interesting book Ty for sharing oops if only you spoke a lil slower.
