@@123doomdoom it wasn't fast enough for that, but the biggest factor was everything had to pass through the Genesis VDP on the way to the TV. It took time to send the scaled image to the Genesis VDP to display on the TV, the scaling chip had to do the math to render the image, and then send that image to the Genesis VDP for display. It simply didn't have the bandwidth to update the VDP at 60fps. I think 15-20fps was the max that they could get with scaling and rotation. Even if the chip could render faster than that, it couldn't send it any faster. The Genesis VDP is also why they couldn't increase the amount of colors. No matter the processing power of the Sega CD, they were still stuck with the same sprite and color limitations as the Genesis. This is why they went that Frankenstein route with the 32X, to bypass the Genesis VDP limitations.

I had one of the compilation disc on Sega CD and I spent hours trying to figure out how to make golden ax two players I was so mad whenever I found out it was only one they must have been on crack when they made these games
@@JunkerDC They must have run into some kind of technical limitation with Golden Axe, because it's the game with the most changes made to it, positive and negative. They decided to use the actual arcade soundtrack by streaming it off of the CD, so my guess (and I stress, this is only a guess) is that in order to fit the code for the RedBook audio into RAM, they had to axe(pun intended) the code for the second player. Making it 1p only meant that they didn't have to load the 2nd player code or graphics and sound data into RAM, which gave them the room they needed to have the soundtrack streaming from the CD.

The Sega X Board totally crushes the Sega CD by a landslide. The arcade version from four years earlier is vastly superior to it's little brother on the Sega CD. You would of thought after four years they would of given you perfect arcade ports especially considering how much they were charging for all the hardware. If I had the choice of going into a store 30 years ago and having the choice to choose between buying a Genesis/Sega CD or a Neo Geo AES then I'm going with the Neo myself. It was the only way you was going to get true arcade quality at home during that time frame. That's why the Neo is so special. Snk was the only company that decided to bring the arcade experience home if you were willing to pay for it and I must say it was every bit worth the asking price. It took me 3 years to save up to get it when I was a kid back in 1990 and by 1993 I had the money to buy it just in time of the release of the very first Samurai Showdown. Now that was a golden time in video game history, I promise you that.👍😁😎👌
@Benjamin Jagun You're right I love Super Monaco it's a great game for the Genesis and probably my favorite racing game for the system. If you didn't know you would of thought it was an arcade game and to be honest it's better than the racers available on the Neo Geo in my opinion. In all honesty the Neo Geo is really more like a special request circumstance experience. If you were willing to pay the cash then I'd say the manufacturer should grant the buyer access to any arcade game that was ever released outside of SNK during it's time. I'm sure it's people out there who have games like Capcoms Alien vs Predator or Konami's The Simpsons unofficially for the Neo Geo AES and that's two games I'd kill to own because that's what the system was specifically made for. I'd pay respectfully if I had access to my favorite arcade games on the platform if they ever became available. All I can do is hope at best one day it will become a reality but in the meantime I'll enjoy the classics we all grew up with for sure.👍😎👌
@Benjamin Jagun I totally agree it was a fantastic game for the Genesis. In all honesty what Sega should of done from the beginning was to combine what the Sega CD peripheral was with the power of the 32x add on into one cartridge system. The 32x was fully capable of giving the public arcade perfect ports of our favorite quarter crunching games we grew up loving in arcades and local bowling alleys. If they had done that the hardware would of been much more treasured and appreciated throughout history til this very day.😎

I am a Genesis/Mega Drive supporter (not a fanboy, I like SNES too) but this game is just embarassing. Mega Drive would have been capable of much more. After Burner is a clear example. Plus, for being on Sega CD (or Mega CD) I would have expected something like revamped/remixed music. Maybe it was not the right time for this, maybe SEGA still on top and not caring for contents or quality..
Because the game doesn't take advantage of the CD format nor the Mega CD / SEGA CD's additional power whatsoever : it's just the Mega Drive / Genesis version of the game on a CD compilation.

If they had done that the hardware would of been much more treasured and appreciated throughout history til this very day.😎
A Marota jogou MUITO bem!!!
They could have done more with the sega cd
CD v is like a beta) but ok
I am a Genesis/Mega Drive supporter (not a fanboy, I like SNES too) but this game is just embarassing. Mega Drive would have been capable of much more. After Burner is a clear example.
Plus, for being on Sega CD (or Mega CD) I would have expected something like revamped/remixed music. Maybe it was not the right time for this, maybe SEGA still on top and not caring for contents or quality..
*Why are enemy cars all yellow? CD version can do more colors left?!?* 👎
Because the game doesn't take advantage of the CD format nor the Mega CD / SEGA CD's additional power whatsoever : it's just the Mega Drive / Genesis version of the game on a CD compilation.
Arcade increíbles wins
It's a bit pointless to compare the original arcade game with the Mega CD / SEGA CD version as it is identical to the Mega Drive / Genesis version.
Wish we got the arcade version of Super Monaco on Saturn.
NO〜 impossible(^_^;)
Different games kkk
console version never impressed me no buildings
