- It is Wednesday the 30th of August and today we check for updates about transfers to the new airport. We look at why the Honda Today may become the most popular moto in the Kingdom, and we see where the noise is coming from in Bassac Lane. We’ll also check in on last week’s jailbreaker.
We donate 100% of our earnings from this channel to charities in Cambodia. You help us to earn this money simply by watching our videos.

Thanks for the news from Cambodia. This is the only source of news that I trust and pay attention to regarding what happened in the Khmer Kingdom.
You are very kind. Thank you for watching!
These benevolent charitable organisations that help the vulnerable, especially children, are just wonderful.
They are fantastic 😍
I was planning on getting a license anyway! So, heyhey, now I have a great reason to get a bike with more "CC". 🎉
Good choice! Highly recommend it, just for your own safety.
Thank for the update!
You're welcome.
Great weekly moto news… thanks
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching.
Great updates as always from For Riel. Keep the Riel going. Cheers🍷
Thanks, will do!😍
Fantastic video!
Thank you very much!
Many thanks for the updates.👍❤
You are so welcome
Thanks Claire & Jeremy - hope all is well
Happy days 👌👍👋🙏
Everything is fantastic 🤩
Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
Thank you too!
great moto news 👏
Thank you for watching.
Thanks for closure on the dental jailbreak issue. It’s been keeping me awake!
You can sleep safely now. 😘
Thanks for the news and look around.
Thanks for watching!
If they want to reduce accidents, ticket people for being on their phones while riding/driving.
Could also include not stopping at red traffic lights, going in wrong direction on one way streets, riding on the left, riding whilst intoxicated, speeding and not stopping at stop signs( to name just a few)
And Pedestrian crossings as they just seem a waste of white paint at present
It would be a start.
Thanks for the very professional delivery style. I really like how you don't waste any time getting to the point while we get to look around Siem Reap. Thanks.
My pleasure! 🥰
Thanks for the great Moto bulletin 👍
Our pleasure!
Thanks again for the ride and news,,,,peace and happiness
Our pleasure 🙏
Thanks for the update. I am no longer receiving your notifications, don't know why.?.??
That's strange, but I have no idea why. :(
As always, a pleasure riding with you. Thanks for the update. ❤
Always welcome, thanks for watching!
Cattle rustler. Cambodia is the wild West. Thanks for another good video.
Thanks for watching! 👍
I imagine the railway coming along street 60 as far as the ticket office. There is already a parallel road on the side which would be easy to convert. Good news about health care, not so good about bike licenses. Hope there is no written test in Khmer.
Nice ride, good report. Cheers
Get a license in your home country and an international permit. My understanding is you can show your international permit and pay the license fee for a Cambodian license. I bought a bike 2 years ago, but 2 falls, a bent fork, and 9 broken bones later, I'm still without. 😂
@@davem.792 good for the first year
It's Cambodia I'm sure there would be a ..... course you could do to get one.
Thanks, guys, for another great moto!
I have a flight to SR booked for November. I received a notice from Bangkok Airways stating that, as of 10/16/23, all flights in & out of the old airport will be transferred to the new one. Train service will take a while!
Thanks for the info! Yes a train line would take awhile to build but hopefully it would be the beginning of more train lines.
That sucks about the motorcycle license thing. I'm sure I would end up buying the 50 cc Honda Today then. No more roadtrips outside the city on motorbike anymore. :(
Why can't you get a license?
You could just get a license, it's a handy thing to have.
@@ForRiel What's the cost and process to get a Cambodian license?
Just had a look where the new SR airport is and it looks about the same distance to the 3rd. Floating village from SR on Google maps.
I’ve been to that village several times by Tuk tuk, so maybe tuk tuks will operate to the new airport.
It's a wait and see at the moment. They do have a few years to sort out that before a they increase the flights.
Goggle news, outstanding👍
Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
Thank you for doing these vlogs, they are very helpful & important for people outside of Cambodia who like to keep updated on what's happening 'In Country'.
Glad you like them!
The Chinese dental escapee getaway vehicle was abandoned about 100 metres down the road from my place. I missed the exciting event by barely 20 minutes. 😂 (thank goodness!). At the time I had no idea as the circulating rumour was a drunk driver event.
It was amazing how quickly they found it and everyone else. A extremely strange jail break as it didn't seem to have a exit strategy.
Hi Jeremy & Claire 😊 , hope all is going well , nice ride about once again , when it comes to needing a license to drive a moto , some of the best moto drivers I've witnessed in Cambodia are children 🤣, it is unfortunate that so many perish in moto accidents here , but how many times have we heard the phrase , " and the driver of the automobile ran away from the scene " , to put these changes in better context , Cambodia is growing up , new roads , new airports , and a new way of doing things , the " Wild Wild West " some like to call life here , is slowly disappearing , imagine what Siem Reap will be like in 10 years , change is simply inevitable , unless you're a " cattle rustler " , I guess that never goes out of style 🤣, Jeremy & Claire 😊, always a pleasure stopping by the newsroom , take care , stay safe , catch you on the next one , Peace
Hi Brian, unfortunately like the wild West Cambodia a lot of people died unnecessary from doing stupid things. Like the stories of people going to a funeral for people who died from drinking bootleg alcohol, then they died from drinking it as well.
Thanks for update news !
No worries!
Thinking that the size of the engine in the moto is the root cause of the problem🤦♀️
Building an airport and only thinkig about how people would get to & from it 1 mnth before it opens. 🤦♀️
Welcome to the Kingdom!
It would help but not stop all road accidents. The transport setup from the Airport had been a hidden secret for a while.
Yup. Should be interesting. The major issue with any rule about licenses is that they will enforce it sporadically and disproportionately on foreigners. Plus, unless they enforce laws about who can drive cars here accidents will still be far more frequent than anyone wants. Some of he car driving is horrendous in SR!
The greatest thing about Cambodia is the freedom and the ability to use commonsense and make your own decisions about risk. Such a shame to see more laws being introduced as they will erode those things.
Unfortunately no amount of common sense is going to help you from a speeding kid blowing through a red light.
Road laws need to be enforced more to save lives and bringing down the huge amount of deaths on the roads.
@@ForRielYep, no amount of laws will do anything unless they actually enforce them.
Hey Claire both the new siem reap airport and the upcoming Phnom Penh airport no one knows how they will get to the city. The new pp airport looks like at least an hour to the city depending on traffic probably longer.
It's a wait a see thing, but a train line would be fantastic
The Interior Minister needs to go visit Thailand and Bali if he wants to know what real death and road carnage looks like. Cambodia is so much safer on the roads. The lack of road rage in SR is a welcome relief compared to Phuket and Bali. Anyone that has lived in the two places knows how bad it is. Absolute maniacal.
I've been riding a moto in Bali for 15 years. Road rage? Certainly not from locals, who are very easy to share the road with. Never seen the slightest 'rage'. What is more difficult now though is a huge increase in the number of cars than that increase risk for riders on the narrow country roads. And way too many unskilled and/or underdressed tourists around these days who seem to think it's a theme park or consequence free show off zone.
Mind you, I don't live in/go to the crowed crazy southern areas, I'm based up in the hills.
@@newgabe09 Yes, it matters what areas you are driving or riding in, for sure.
Cambodia has its share of carnage. Something needs to be done.
@@ForRiel The main killers in traffic are cars, trucks, and bad infrastructure. They should focus on that and fix it before they even think about regulating smaller vehicles.
Thanks to you two for what you do!
It’s a pain to get a motorcycle license here where i live.
I was thinking a 125cc there might keep me out of trouble. If i have to get licensed I may reconsider unless some tea money might solve the problem… (?)… poof.
I may resort to a bicycle!
I'm sure you could get a license here easy enough. If they pass the laws it would a few months before it was enforced.
🙏🏼
😇🥰😍
Is there an avenue to obtain a license for foreigners? I have a motorcycle license and driven in pretty challenging environments (Thailand, Malaysia, etc..). I have no issue with another practical test.
Having our own transportation to explore, shop, meet up with others is essential. I hope law makers recognize its importance and allow foreigners to obtain a license while permitted to stay in the Kingdom.
Definitely. You don't need a license for a motorcycle under 125cc. We just went through the process of getting a license ourselves, it did take time to sort but doable. Another option is just paying a Visa agent to do it all for you, which is around $160.
I doubt the moto license law will come through. I think they tried to pass it years ago and decided it was too much work. I'm guessing over 50% of the motos on the road are 125cc or under.
Shhhhh with your rational statements Ryan, it's called clickbait...... 🤣🤣🤣.... potentially almost clickbait.....
Prison break now re-captured👍
Not the best planned escape 😕.
Thank you. Very informative. Are you able to say if any of the charities you support (alluded to at the start of the video) concern animal rights? I would be interested in supporting it/them as well.
There a few charities in SR that help rescue cats and dogs. Pagoda Cats are one.
What are they going to do with the old beautiful airport? Turn into a hotel? A school? A mall?
Train station......😜
@@ForRielhopefully, bus station as well
Thank you for another informative video. Be careful with injections given in case of bites by either monkeys, dogs, cats and other local mammals, including snakes. Some of those vaccines might not be as effective. Seek certified medical attention.
Very good advice 👌
you better check the price of a replacement battery before you do!!
Haha yes, I think around $15 for a new moto battery.
in the states a replacement battery for a toyota preius is over 10k so always check before you buy. a replacement battery for my honda phantom in udon thani was $15 over 8yr ago and its just used to start the engine and it was a local price, not berang price
please can you help me out?the first 30 seconds of this video people just drive through a red light including you. is this normal or is it when in rome do what the romans do?????
You mean turning right? It's ok to turn right when the light is red.
Curious question: What is the age that someone can ride a moto under 125cc? To me, it sounds like just about anyone can hop on a moto and go just as long as it's a low cc.🙏👍
Legally or actually? 😇
There is no minimum age.
Yes, kids seem to ride Honda Todays as soon as they are big enough to sit on it and have their feet touch the ground.
Question to the audience: I'm in possession of all motorbike licences in europe (germany) and got the international paper as well. I wrote to the embassy and asked if I could rent a bike in Cambodia. They were not able to answer and asked me to write to the ministry of transport a.s.o., what I did. But I never got an answer.
So is it legal for me to rent a 60 cc or 125 cc bike and hit the road in the Kingdom???
You don’t need a license to rent a motorbike that is under 125cc. No license at all!
A international driving license is excepted in Cambodia 🇰🇭
excepted but not accepted? Sorry don't get the meaning really. One guy told me international is nothing worth in Cambodia@@ForRiel
Yes but you need German insurance in case of accident.
Thanks for info. Have to check that.@@wladekrybenski335
A 60cc Moto, how do you get anywhere on that, do you have to push it ❤. How does one wipe a monkey?
I loved my 50cc scoop, mostly you don't get over 40 on the roads here.
Moto news on motorcycle…
Old school 🏫
❤😂😢😮😅😊🛵🛴🛼🥰😊😉😇
What a joke to make such a distant airport and only start vaguely talking about 'collecting data' for transit rail 6 weeks before the thing opens!
Cambodia likes a challenge.....
Outbreak moto news continues…
I know! Such a crazy story!
great moto news 👏
😊 🙏 Thanks
