Floor Jansen is a very good singer/vocal coach who studied at the rock academy and has studied opera for several years but is not an opera singer. Floor is a real storyteller and has a lot of charisma and is a wonderful person.
She studied 3 years at the rock academy and 3 years at the conservatory (in Tilburg I believe), of which 2 years of musical theatre and 1 year of opera.
The keyboards are fronted by a pipe system that has been used for pyrothechnics and stuff. It coild shooy teeshirts into the audience. The story is about unrequited love that the drummer had for Tarye.
The crowd is hyped because have just realised that Nightwish are going to perform one of the epic songs written for the first quite operatic singer, Tarja Turunen who you've heard. They hadn't played it for several years as second singer, Anette Olzon, was a pop singer. It's only with this singer, Floor Jansen, that they have been able to perform every song in their catalogue. And the latest two albums featuring Floor have been taken to another level vocally as she sings whatever is aaked of her. This concert features 15 songs and this is number 13. Floor Jansen does have her own UA-cam channel with various covers, chats and vocal coaching.
I was 10 at the time and had already received classical vocal training for several years. My singing teacher always despaired of me at one point - I just never opened my mouth. When I had another hour 3 days after this concert, I shocked her because I suddenly opened my mouth really wide and let the notes flow. Well, apparently Floor is just the better teacher. 😂
@@cbrbruce7161 Gelsenkirchen Amphitheater, 12 June. Goosebumps at 30 degrees C would have happened, if the heat hadn't already gone down a bit. Next, Floor's solo show in Bloemendaal. Can't wait!
The Grandfather of Heavy Metal is Classical Music , my start as a Metalhead was 1980 with 13 years , today 2023 and over 55 years with still long hair , the same strong love to this Music - Heavy Metal was never boring or kidding me
Great reaction. As you noted this is their third singer Floor Jansen. Your previous reaction was with their first singer Tarja Turunen. She was a classically trained opera singer and mostly sang in that style. Floor has been a metal singer through out her career and while with her first band she studied at the Dutch Rock Academy (first class) and then with vocal coaches, studied opera for a year and musical theater for two years. She is a self proclaimed vocal nerd, was a vocal coach in the past and, is the most versatile and amazing singer in the world today IMO. The organ looking thing on stage is the keyboard stand holding two Korg keyboards for the bands keyboardist and the composer of most of their music Tuomas Holopainen. It is made to resemble the Sibelius Monument in Helsinki, Finland. Tuomas is Finnish and a huge fan of Jean Sibelius. This style of metal is called symphonic metal and so there is a lot that classical musicians can relate to but even with other genres of metal, I think the level of musicianship required is very high in both worlds and that is something both classical and metal fans enjoy and respect. There is another Symphonic Metal band, Epica, that has done a whole concert of classical music, called The Classical Conspiracy, with a full orchestra and choir which is amazing. During their 10th anniversary Retrospect concert they performed Stabat Mater Dolorosa with Floor joining their lead singer Simone Simons as a guest singer, ua-cam.com/video/nhtOORYTGx8/v-deo.html. In the middle of a huge metal concert they perform this classical piece and everyone stops and rapturously listens. For me Ghost Love Score is a story about a love that has never been expressed or realized, hidden from the object of that love, i.e. a Ghost Love. I think you would appreciate the analysis of this song by a composer which explains from a music theory POV why this song is so good and satisfying. ua-cam.com/video/-ql4Y12xbck/v-deo.html. Subbed for your insights and hope you continue your Nightwish journey.
EPICA should be compulsory for youtube music reactors! 😂

Facts: This concert and tour was based on songs written for the two previous singers in the band. Floor had to step in mid tour in October 2012 and basically just had 48 hours to learn the setlist och 15 songs. This song is song 13 in the setlist and she's doing a fantastic job on all of them.

Climax is the right word considering that this song ends with a Floorgasm :) It's always great to see an opera singer become a metalhead. Keep going the Nightwish rabbit hole, it's a true Wonderland!
Glad you like metal. Has there ever been an 80000 audience for an opera? As for nothing happened yet, the audience had already experienced over an hour of that ‘dark chest of wonders’ that is Floor Nightwish. Ok, maybe they were not expecting that heart and soul capturing Floor GLS.
Haha, l (and about 10000 others) saw them live last Friday at Kitee Rantakenttä, Finland. Floor was very heavily pregnant, but still they delivered a full two hours show. 😎👍
There's a big difference between metal and what I or we call "symphonic metal". So many different layers of talent between her and the band. It is an eye opener to music beyond the norm. They definitely changed my life for the better!🌹
Nightwish hasn't played the song live for over 7 years because it was written for Tarja. With Floor as the new singer, they now had the opportunity to do so again. For most of the fans it was the first concert with Floor and when they heard the beginning of the song they were overjoyed. That's why the hyped mood at the beginning of the video was there. When I first heard the song live again, I was absolutely blown away by Floor's voice.
Well, during her time with them Anette tried but it was clear her voice wasn't adapted for GLS (doesn't mean she's not good, because she was and still is).
@@theragingviking9177 Absolutely. Lots of people didn't like her simply because she was NOT Tarja, that's SO UNFAIR. Because that's exactly what Tuomas was looking for.
Nice Reaction! Floor also sang the Phantom of the Opera song on a Dutch TV show called Beste Zangers with a gentleman who played the Phantom in The Netherlands. It is an intimate setting and you really get to watch them both up close as they sing.
Metal and classical music have similarities in Europe. Many musicians have had classical music as part of their education because it is part of their tradition. That flows into their metal. Nightwish was an extreme case. Her first singer Tarja (whom you saw) wanted to be an opera singer and refused to sing any other way. Through this she established the classic singing in metal and the singer in this song (Floor) is influenced by that. But Floor then placed more value on versatility and is therefore the current role model. The organ is fake and hides three keyboards, the flaming bull's skull is the logo of Wacken Open Air. Back then with 80,000 visitors, now over 100,000. It's one of the oldest and biggest metal festivals in the world. The great time together was very different 10 months before. They quarreled with their second singer Anette in the middle of the tour and had no singer two days before the next concert. In this short time you only get bad and crazy ones as replacements. They took one of the crazy ones and she's the longtime singer now. There is no official explanation for the song's lyrics. As the song is being written there are already rumors that the band wants to part ways with lead singer Tarja (whom you saw in Phantom, at her last concert). It's probably because the connection between her and the band has died. The first Basisst had already been pushed out of the band because of drunkenness on stage. Not a good Time for Nightwish. Floor made a reaction video of her experience with the song: Floor Jansen REACTS to Nightwish - Ghost Love Score (Wacken 2013) Nightwish is the figurehead of the symphonic, but not the only band: VISIONS OF ATLANTIS - Pirates Will Return (Official Live Video) | Napalm Records Epica - Sancta Terra (feat Floor Jansen) Live Retrospect show Blackbriar - Mortal Remains (Official Music Video)
I truly appreciate your reaction, even the "I feel inadequate right now" line. So sweet and humble! Floor is next level for sure and has really contributed to taking Nightwish to the next level.
Great reaction. love your energy and expertise, Keep Nightwish coming and before you know it you will be a (Symphonic) metal head :) greetings from The Netherlands.
What a great reaction to this epic love song! Yes it is a love song...and this song was my first song that I heard by Nightwish. 4 years later..I am addicted to their music. The genius behind Nightwish is Tuomas Holopainen...he writes the lyrics and musical scores to all of their music...of course with assistance of the band members.. Oh...the display of Pipes is just set decorations around his 3 keyboards. Nightwish does have a collaboration with the London Orchestra, Adult and Youth Choirs. I could also tell that you had several "Floorgasams!" It happens when you get goosebumps all over yourself while listening to Floor singing! Floor is such a special woman...in fact...she has been travelling to concerts while she is pregnant with her second child!!! Well...welcome to the Nightwish Army!!! There are members all over the world...and we all share the same love for Nightwish! Young or old...all are welcome!!! ( I fall into the older part...as I will be 66 years young in about a month and a half! ) I drive around in my SUV listening to Nightwish!! You have a new subscriber!!! Oh...the attendance at that concert...82,000!!!
Hey beautyfull ladie!!!! I'm glad because you really payed attention, not only the singer, but the band, the music, the interaction with the crowd, etc etc. Good reaction. Thanks. Greettings from Argentina. Sorry for my English
Thank you for this entertaining video! Floors vocal technique is second to none, in my opinion she is the one of the greatest vocalists in the world. As I understand her technique she has a way to tap into her classical and operatic setup while still singing contemporary. This gives her great resonance and it also lets her switch between vocal styles so effortlessly as she does. That last note is indeed a belt but should be head voice because no mortal human can possibly use that much force while singing such a high note. But Floor is a superhero and her superpower is her voice.
Thanks, Jules. You are one of the few people who notice the time signature changes in the intro... (6/8, 6/8, 5/8, 6/8) 6x, then (4/4, 4/4, 3/4, 4/4) 4x, then steady 4/4 for vocal entry
Jules, the audience's excitement doesn't just come from what they already did experienced in the song's intro. You can take into account that this is already #13 out of 15 in the concert, but also that everyone knows and recognizes this song as soon as the intro starts. They are curious to hear it live from their favorite band and wonder what the version will bev by NW new female front vocalist Floor Jansen. GLS is indeed a story, a score, in which the main character (Tuomas, band leader, writer, poet, composer and keyboard player) is seduced by the Siren and dives into the sea after her. Goes down in the interlude and then emerges in a (for him)n completely unknown (music-) country, without knowing his way here, and have to surrender himself to the leadership of that ghost. I am curious what your reaction will be to Henk Poort's version of "The Sound of Silence" sung for Floor Jansen during the RTV program "Beste Zangers 2019" ua-cam.com/video/q_BJaM-UrXc/v-deo.html Henk is a Dutch opera and musical singer and actor. He's a baritone. Born on January 20, 1956. He studied classical singing at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. He won the Cristina Deutekom Competition during his singing training. Henk sang at various European opera houses, such as in Ulm and Krefeld. He made guest appearances for, for example, De Nederlandse Opera, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, the Hessische Staatstheater in Wiesbaden, the Nationale Reisopera, the VARA (Opera matinee in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw).
Nice reaction! (always know we are in for a treat if the time signature changes are noted). Interesting to note your friends talking about a correlation between opera and metal (people who follow reactions will have heard this before as well). Not all metal singers - but a fair few - do have a wild toolkit available to them. Floor Jansen is the most obvious example - she can sing opera, but usually doesn't, or she can death growl, and all points in between. Floor is probably the most accomplished but there are others who have the same variety of voice modes available to them. I wonder if there is also an argument that some subgenres of metal are extremely progressive and experimental in a way that more mainstream and popular music simply isn't. "Metal" as a concept buttons its coat over a *huge* variety of style and substyles that if you don't like one kind of metal you might find a comfy harbour in another. With pop music while you might get clever lyrics or novel drum samples, you know it is pop - but with metal you can't really say, for example, a Slipknot song is like a Seventh Wonder track. They have the same root but are wildly diverse. I can see how that could be appealing to people who like theory and technique of music.
thank you! metal singers are indeed some of the most talented and diverse singers out there. it seem virtuosity is a pillar in this genre, for every instrument, including voice!
🤩👌💥💯 🎼 This is truly impressive performance thinking it's LIVE, as all off their infinitive awesomeness of live repertoire . My first time seeing this performance Floor so captivated me that at the end when she held that belt for so long and powerfully I froze in awe. When she saluted after I thought to myself she is saying " I release you" lol. Great reaction you should check out Dead Boys Poem live in Buenos Aires 2018 her voice is exceptional in that one.
Hello! Welcome to the family of Nightwish army! Tuomas Holopainen (keyboardist) is composer of Nightwish music. He often use some "eternal art" parts like organ decoration for his keyboards, poetic lirycs and many other. As for opera singer i think it is interesting for you to hear Tarja's Turunen vocal - first singer and cofounder of Nightwish. She most operatic vocalist during whole history of the band. Have a nice journey
Really, REALLY, love your reaction! You are very intuitive and intelligent musically, ..... thank you! So much here, ..... Can we just mention Floor's pitch tuning? LIVE under these chaotic, loud conditions!? She is spot on always! She never gets nervous or excited, just crafting a vocal experience. Such a seasoned pro of so many years on big stages. It's truly a gift to watch. Next name me single band that is capable of such compositional skills to make a 10 or even 20 minute song seem like a few minutes...... Thanks to Tuomas (keyboardist composer)....... This band is a deep rabbit hole of endless goosebumps, and Floor is perhaps even more so in her versatility! Please do more Nightwish and FLOOR JANSEN!
I've seen Nightwish perform live , Wiltern theater Los Angeles 2022.. I was 70 years old at the time and i personally been listening to all kinds of Rock and playing it in clubs since the 60's. and have seen many live shows by some of the greats. The keyboard player, and composer of this song , Tuomas Holopainen's muse was Metallica, whom he saw back in the day , Kansas City when they were on tour with Gun's an Roses. The rest is musical history. Needless to say the Band is tight and Floor Jansen has got to one of the most charismatic , front woman and vocalist's on Earth. Jules, your interpretation of this song was spot on.
I have been fan of Nightwish since I was an 8 year old little goth buying their second CD. This film was part of the Showtime, Storytime Tour and was the bands first tour with Floor Jansen singing. As a 20th birthday present, my parents got my friends and I meet-the-band passes and early entry to the venue so we were VERY close to the stage. You ask about the pipes attached to the keyboard. Tuomas's keyboard is a contraption with several keyboards(one with synth, one with piano, and one with harmonic effects) and some of the sounds ARE projected through the pipes.
Or Bach, Beethoven...lol Classically trained musicians like and understand harmonies and many other things in theory that is why we love Symphonic metal and are bored by pop music...lol
Cool reaction Jules👍 Wacken 2013 starring Nightwish and co-starring the 80,000 is..wow!! The juxtaposition of her insane range and presence and this bands hard hitting insane talent is incredible. I can't believe it's been ten years since this performance. At the time, Floor had only been with the band for a few months, having replaced the previous singer in the middle of Nightwish's North America tour. By the end of this song, Floor went from being a really good singer to a ****ING LEGEND!!!!! She has been the Nightwish Army's Queen ever since.
Ghost Love SCORE. A movie score of course has different music for different scenes. I think of each musical section in this song as a scene, with its own script and mood. The instrumental intro is like an overture, giving a taste of what we might expect to hear later in the song.
My auntie tried to teach me to sing, she was an operatic singer. She said I wouldn't be a superstar singer, but she never once didn't stop helping me sing better. I first freak her out with ABBA, she was totally amazed, next I introduced her to Queen. At the same time, I dated the daughter of my music teacher at high school (Australia levels are different to USA school levels) and got her loving this band. And her father even used this band multiple time during lesson (first time I had ever heard a person hear a song and be able to play it perfectly the first time, a truly amazing talent). My Auntie eventually passed away before this band came around, but I'm sure it would have blown her socks off
This is by far my favorite Nightwish song and I enjoyed sooo much seeing your reactions and comments. You have a new fan now and I'd love to see a reaction to Epica next. Thanks for your amazing content, you rock!

That is why Metal is so epic. To be great at it they have to practice non-stop and no other musical genre is more creative. So much variety and history with Metal music. I am 51, been a fan since I was 10, and I still discover new bands daily. Enjoy the journey. \m/

Glad you decided to react to this band again,as you khis is with their 3rd singer Floor Jansen,a 6’1” Dutch vocal beast..They’re definitely a band that are better live, their studio stuff is good but it’s their live performances where they shine…they go from operatic though to rock, folk,Celtic and on to thrash and everything in between, hope you decide to dip your toe into some more..if you do then definitely use Gabriel’s list as it has the best quality videos performance and audio wise.👍
3:25 Yes, the intro changes time signatures 25 or so times before Floor sings a note. It starts 6/8 with some 5/8 measures stuck in there, then switches to 12/16 with some 9/16 measures, then 4/4 for Floor.
When you want to go further on the path of our 1.83m (6ft.1) tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen besides Nightwish, here is some background information on the best and most versitale female singer of our time. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song from full operatic to death growls in seconds. Here are some examples: Misery’s no Crime: ua-cam.com/video/SNPesLFTnUg/v-deo.html Disdain: ua-cam.com/video/tIqzPXzhEuw/v-deo.html Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: ua-cam.com/video/vhExkmWKMEU/v-deo.html Floor joined Nightwish after this iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. New sub, there's something unique in your reactions, and I've seen many reactions to this song. I like to joke that Ghost Love Score is a short symphony for 4 musicians, a 3-in-1 singer, a choir, a full orchestra, and 82000 screamers. More seriously, the music keeps changing but also coming back to its own themes, it's not a random accumulation of randomness. Someone counted 16 key changes, and the time signatures also evolve constantly (even the intro uses 2 different time signatures before falling into 4/4). Tuomas does an excellent job at filling the entire frequency range without causing the main instruments and/or the voice to clash, it's not by chance that there's only 1 guitar when typical metal has 2, or that the guitar sometimes stops during vocals so that they don't overlap. Finally, theme-wise, here's a very personal interpretation: Tuomas was in love with Tarja, the first singer, he knew that this was an impossible love, but he was content from working with her. After Century Child (2002), Tarja said that she wanted to do 2 more albums and tours with the band, then quit. Tuomas (band lead, keyboardist, and composer/writer) didn't take it well, and he wrote 2 songs about that in Once (2004), Romanticide (you killed my love) and Ghost Love Score (the story of the impossible love of my life, including the choir "if you be the one to cut me I'll bleed forever" that becomes "you were the one to cut me so I'll bleed forever" at the end of the song). Tensions caused Tuomas to fire Tarja after the Once tour (and the reaction you made to Phantom of the Opera was from Tarja's last Nightwish concert before she got fired). In Dark Passion Play (2007), Tuomas has 3 more songs on that theme: Poet and the Pendulum (I almost killed myself because of the hate I received from firing Tarja), Bye Bye Beautiful (good riddance, you didn't belong any more, you should have seen it coming), and Master Passion Greed (your husband was pulling the strings in the wrong direction).
Thank you Jules. Great reaction. Hoping to add clarification, I'm known to say: The phenomenon of Nightwish and even more Floor Jansen is that they will begin a song on a scale between 0 and 10 on 2 and you will like it. Then they will turn it up to 4 or 5 and you will be amazed. Then you will realize it's only the first third of the song. Then they will do really crazy stuff and push it up unto 8 or 9 and you will fall in love with them. And then they will blow your mind by doing serious music. Like 12. Got the impression you had that kind of journey as well. :)
The reason why I like Floor so much is because she is not only a great performer with an even greater voice, that has a lovely satinlike layer or "sheen" on it, but she is also really smart in using the right voice types at the right moments in the song, and using her operatic ability on in very small portions, which makes it extra special when she does that (as I saw in your reaction) NB. Great react and so fun for another professional singer to say this is a unique and amazing performance. Thank you for sharing your thoughts… keep’em coming!!
That last note she absolutely NUKED was an A♭/G# 5 at a full-tilt belt. This song is SUCH a good showcase of her versatility. She starts off in that ethereal head voice switching to a mix before the break, comes in after the break going back and forth between mix and pure chest, and jumps back and forth between stylistic choices, from strictly classical to genuine operatic back to contemporary, all the while sliding up most of her upper range (she doesn't get anywhere near the bottom of her range in this). THey should rename this song "Hold My Beer."

Like the name says, it's indeed a score, not a song! Tuomas has this ability to gradually introduce new elements without them seeming out of place and then iterating on them and layering and finally bringing them all together for the climax.
Floor explains how she does the vocal build up at the end in this video where she’s “reacting” to this performance 😊 ua-cam.com/video/QW_3F186_5Q/v-deo.htmlsi=OWBvC5jxpON586gC
Loved the reaction, liked and subbed! This performance can bring me to tears if I left it. One thing you may not know is that Floor was not well known prior to joining Nightwish (outside the symphonic metal genre that is), and she even suffered burn-out and took a break entirely from music, just before they called on her as a replacement vocalist. Considering that, and the fact that here she is/was in 2013, giving such a phenomenal performance, I'm just so happy for her success and recognition after so many years in the industry. She has always been this good, but just wasn't getting more widespread attention that she absolutely deserves. I recommend checking out her performances on the show Beste Zangers, if you want to hear more from her aside from the Wacken 2013 show.
Nothing has really happened yet except this is the 13rd song of this epic concert!

but is not an opera singer. Floor is a real storyteller and has a lot of charisma and is a wonderful person.

I was at this concert.

Goosebumps here are not simply goosebumps. They are Floorgasms
Tarja has never had operatic training.
Well, I never said this was her first concert. I said she joined them in October 2012,and this was in August 2013. I just wanted to mention that she had 48 hours to learn the setlist. Always fun to watch Nightwish reactions of people with musical backgrounds. Tuomas is such an underrated song writer.

That's the 1st time I have ever wished a 10 minute song wasn't over. Holy Mother of Pearl.
It's amazing seeing people have their first Floor-gasm! Her singing is breath-taking!
Haha, l (and about 10000 others) saw them live last Friday at Kitee Rantakenttä, Finland. Floor was very heavily pregnant, but still they delivered a full two hours show. 😎👍
Glorious
We were there!
...not the baby I presume?... ;) giggles and hopes all is well with Floor and her fam.
There's a big difference between metal and what I or we call "symphonic metal". So many different layers of talent between her and the band. It is an eye opener to music beyond the norm. They definitely changed my life for the better!🌹
I like how you sway with the music and really let it get to you.
@@jean-mi1825 Anette is a fantastic singer but how many people in this world can hit the notes like tarja and floor, it is very rare!
@@theragingviking9177
Absolutely. Lots of people didn't like her simply because she was NOT Tarja, that's SO UNFAIR. Because that's exactly what Tuomas was looking for.
I wish Floor could sing soprano better. This song was meant to be sung in soprano.
You talk, with apparent surprise, about their stamina and energy - you should know that this is towards the end of a 15 song concert - not the first
Nice Reaction! Floor also sang the Phantom of the Opera song on a Dutch TV show called Beste Zangers with a gentleman who played the Phantom in The Netherlands. It is an intimate setting and you really get to watch them both up close as they sing.
Hi Jules, greetings from UK
This was another great reaction, thank you 😊
Thank you! 😃
Thank you. Great reaction 🤘🌹
Floor made a reaction video of her experience with the song:

Great reaction. I love seeing this band making people happy.
I am curious what your reaction will be to Henk Poort's version of "The Sound of Silence" sung for Floor Jansen during the RTV program "Beste Zangers 2019" ua-cam.com/video/q_BJaM-UrXc/v-deo.html
Henk is a Dutch opera and musical singer and actor.
Don't feel inadequate when comparing to her, she is after all one of the greatest singers in the World atm

What an lovely reaction - thank you! I really also love this band, great that you found it.
The composer is the keyboardist, generally referred to as the metal mozart
Best breakdown of this iconic song that I've seen so far.
Metal and Classical have similarities in competition, listen to Vivaldi and tell me that guy wouldn't be metal AF if he had electric guitars.

We give thanks for her at our Blots regularly and hope that Odhinn won't notice that she has never returned to Asgard.
ALL HAIL THE VALKYRIE GODDESS!!!
The Nightwish Army is incoming! You're not ready!
Nightwish Army Central Florida Black Company reporting for duty!
Nightwish Army Southwest Florida ready for action!
Loved your NIghtwish / Floor reaction! More please!
Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Here are some of my favourites:

Monolith of Doubt: ua-cam.com/video/3TmKHkQx45U/v-deo.html
Dreamflight: ua-cam.com/video/73-_F9prx4I/v-deo.html
Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera). Here is a link to a part of a TV show (with english subtitles) of the reunion of the class of the Rock Academy with mostly backstage footage of the Tampere concert of Nightwish in 2015: ua-cam.com/video/B3NIfu0qvtg/v-deo.html
'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song from full operatic to death growls in seconds. Here are some examples:
Misery’s no Crime: ua-cam.com/video/SNPesLFTnUg/v-deo.html
Disdain: ua-cam.com/video/tIqzPXzhEuw/v-deo.html
Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: ua-cam.com/video/vhExkmWKMEU/v-deo.html
Floor joined Nightwish after this iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died is a must see:: ua-cam.com/video/bAiPeSsqD-4/v-deo.html
A suggestion to a christmas song sung by Floor. Here is a link to a performance in Finland with a special guest with the best seat you could imagine: ua-cam.com/video/ym1Wc5dmUYc/v-deo.html
Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on UA-cam. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa:, ua-cam.com/video/QqdvFPBGN0c/v-deo.html
and to see her in full opera mode, watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini: ua-cam.com/video/UeTyAZtV5wI/v-deo.html
As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered UA-cam in these years. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing Ghost Love Score at Wacken. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish:. ua-cam.com/video/QW_3F186_5Q/v-deo.html
Also her Fan Friday videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of the presents she left on her channel. Also videos of her solotour she did with songs of her impressive career. Her latest endeavour is her stunning solo album ‘My Paragon.Floor is a high sensitive person, so peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band Sabaton), daughter Freja (turned 6 years last march), and another on its way, a horse and pony, a dog and a bunch of cats, she found this.
In Dark Passion Play (2007), Tuomas has 3 more songs on that theme: Poet and the Pendulum (I almost killed myself because of the hate I received from firing Tarja), Bye Bye Beautiful (good riddance, you didn't belong any more, you should have seen it coming), and Master Passion Greed (your husband was pulling the strings in the wrong direction).
,She is Valkyrie Queen..
I will suggest watching the video for the song "Sancta Terra" by the band Epica. Floor joins Simone on stage for a phenomenal performance.
The concert of concerts, artistery of the millenium!!
Thank you Jules. Great reaction. Hoping to add clarification, I'm known to say:
The phenomenon of Nightwish and even more Floor Jansen is that they will begin a song on a scale between 0 and 10 on 2 and you will like it.
Tarja es magnífica, sobretodo hace años en los comienzos de nightwish
The reason why I like Floor so much is because she is not only a great performer with an even greater voice, that has a lovely satinlike layer or "sheen" on it, but she is also really smart in using the right voice types at the right moments in the song, and using her operatic ability on in very small portions, which makes it extra special when she does that (as I saw in your reaction)
NB. Floor studied / trained 3 years at the rock academy and 3 years at the conservatory (in Tilburg I believe), of which 2 years of musical theatre and 1 year of opera.
Love the reaction, I hope you do more Nightwish like my favorite - Romanticed... needd to be watched lived. Please do
Great react and so fun for another professional singer to say this is a unique and amazing performance. Thank you for sharing your thoughts… keep’em coming!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for your reaction.
Thanks, greetings from Colombia
Love your reaction video. Nightwish is incredible.
Floors singing is so hypnotic, you also listen to Epica for more operatic rock
Floor does a you tube reaction to this song, explaining her thought process for the vocals.
I appreciate having the flag outside your window. I don't know if it's yours or if you put it, but besides your obvious talent and beaty it's a big plus in my eyes. Cheers from Romania!
Nightwish Army arrived. Great reaction and insight
Nightwish army California checking in, Nightwish always have a story / journey. you might want to check out Ayreon "Day the world breaks down" .
That last note is analyzed as a G# 5, belted.
80.000+ people in the crowd ... They must be good ;-)
Like the name says, it's indeed a score, not a song!
