Kiln is installed with a 3 to 4 % inclination to facilitate the material transport during kiln rotation. To counter act the axial force due to the inclination, the kiln is provided with a thrust device situated on the support nearest the kiln drive station.
The function of the thrust device is to transfer the axial load from the rotary kiln to one or several supports and to maintain the rotary kiln in the axial position.
Designed to perform The automatic hydraulic thrust device (HTD) controls the kiln's axial motion. It counteracts the slope of the kiln and ensures uniform use of the contact surfaces between tyres and supporting rollers, as well as the girth gear and pinion.
Originally the hydraulic thrust device where introduced to allow the kiln to be displaced up and down on the rollers ± 25 mm to even out the wear on the rollers and girth gear.

Regarding Floating of kiln I disagree with this concept which is famous all over cement industry that floating is must to minimize or uniform the wear of roller and tire.
5mm to 10mm floating is almost negligible, you can imagine it have no effect on uniformity of wear.
Although we all know that hydraulic systems are not always perfect to have zero seepage or leakage from seals therefore with passage of time when some seepage starts in seals and kiln position is not maintained but start moving downward at that time kiln thrust device can move it upward thats it.
If kiln is stand always on its position it means ur Hydraulic system (thrust device) is working great to support.

I think you are right i am also thinking about that from previous years that how 20mm floating can protect the kiln tyre and supporting roller from wearing

This movement has no effect on roller and tyres
The purpose of axial thrust roller is only that it prevent the kiln from downward movement by hydraulic pressure
