    Finally! I find someone who knows what he's doing! It's amazing how many wrong ways people have thought of to do this. It's a shame this is such a common problem. Why couldn't they have used a little bit thicker steel right there?

    Bought 2 brand new OEM spindles for my john deere L110.
    The verdict : the right front wheel is straight and the left front wheel is toed in about 4 degrees. So now what happened? did they come from john Deere already bent?
    I don't disagree with your theory of why these have toe alignment issues but with my new parts it didn't fix it either so not sure this is the true root cause. The fact there is no adjust-ability from the factory is concerning. Solid rods for steering linkage with no threaded adjusters?.

  • @mystica24
    @mystica24 2 роки тому +1

    Question.... I accidently ran into a pole that was on the ground and covered with grass. It WAS against my barn but had moved out some. Anyway, the alignment is off now. I can still turn left and right but it's like trying to maneuver a car with no power steering - it's hard. I don't have a mower lift in my garage but I do have a jack. Is that possible to use to hoist one side up and then the other you think?

    • @baldeagle242

    Excellent, informative video on how to straighten!
    My problem is after taking off and changing a flat tire their doesn’t seem to be room to place the washers back on what’s going on!
    I put the retainer clip back on just to move the mower out of the way and it wouldn’t stay on. Lost it. Just bought a couple new ones. How can I get the space to put the washers back on?
    The retaining ring seems like a horribly flimsy way to keep the tire on

    Plastic bushings? They are actually an alloy and not plastic, replacement ones are not as long as the factory ones, I would say they are about half the martial in length so the the surface contact is over less material and they wear very quickly. So after going through a set of replacement bushings in two months I bought the bearing kit mentioned and they lasted two years with no issues yet. Just take a pick and remove the side dust shield of the bearing on the inside edge and work extra grease into the bearing. They come lightly greased so giving them more grease will help prolong their life. Leave the shield off and that way when you grease the hub it can flow freely into the bearing. I run a 21 HP Craftsman, 26 HP Craftsman pro and 26 HP Husqvarna that all use this same setup and all run the same Bushing/Bearing setup and are interchangeable. I cut about 6 acres sometimes twice a week and have about 900 hours on the Husky and well over 1200 on the 21 HP Craftsman. Sorry I didn't remember to say good video and the best one I saw explaining how to position the spindles when straightening them out. I hope people take your suggestion for the bearings serious after they discover their original bushings are world. Cheers from Canada

    My opinion once the metal is deformed it is best to replace, once you start bending the metal it does get weaker

    • @baldeagle242
      @baldeagle242  2 роки тому +3

      I agree 100%! However, after watching some of the other videos on UA-cam, I wanted to put something out that wasn't a total hack job. With that said, I do agree 100% that they will be weaker and more prone to bend again. I also thought about welding some support braces to them, but I figured you're typical homeowner probably doesn't have that option. Anyways, thanks for watching. 🦅🇺🇸😁👍

      The spindles on these things bend so easily if you hit something. I've welded extra bracing on them in the past; I was trying to keep this video short and more directed at the typical homeowner that probably doesn't have a welder. Thanks for watching.

It's hard to believe they would use that thin of metal on those mowers. Because if they hit something hard enough to bend both of those parts they will probably do it again and by that time the metal will break just a thought.
