Wait - amazing! V-VI-VII-VIII-IV-VIII tuning sequence is such a clear choice. That 1st valve C is naturally so out of tune on many horns and within some ensembles. One of the most underappreciated notes and intervals to know how to audiate well in drum corps.
Which is why I am glad they move up to the V in the tuning sequence. That C is naturally out of tune on many horns but one of the most common notes played so integrating that note is a delightful addition to the tuning sequence.
A lot of drum corps are playing British brass band contest pieces nowadays.
