I just can't get over how incredible this bass line is. Never paid attention to it until I now need to learn it for a cover band. Oh man, what a gem! Excellent work here. cheers!
Wow. That's such a blast. It's taken me the better part of a week to start getting comfortable with it, but I'm starting to groove on it now. Most fun I've had with a bassline in a while. Love the Doobies! And love your videos. Absolute best on UA-cam. Hands down!
I play bass. We also own a pool. The station we listen to by the pool is Yacht Rock. This song plays ALL THE TIME. So after watching this, I'm compelled to learn this line. So amazing... nice work. This is gonna help me.
Thoroughly enjoyed following that. I had long been intrigued with the bass line on that song. It has to be one of the best, and I'm not sure if the song would have done as well as it did had it not been for the whimsical keyboard coupled with that simple but catchy bass at the bottom. I just wanted to have it broken down, and this was perfect.
Hello Greg.. Weird I just heard this song the other day but I was thinking about it at almost the same time I heard it..to funny great job it’s a cool bass line.. I’m going to give it a try.. oh I know I’ve said this before but I love that bass..(I want it LOL!!!)... have a great day and thanks for your work..
It's a great bass line. I can't help but wonder if Michael McDonald contributed to the bass line as well? At any rate, it fits perfectly with the song. Thanks!
Great job. Can I ask what notation software you are using that gives you the green play along bar? It would be very useful for my sight reading practice!
Great cover, Greg! Thanks for posting. Could you do "Love is Alive" by Gary Wright? I realize it was originally done with all synth, but the low end translates nicely as a conventional bass line.
Do you have any idea why that G at 1:22 sounds so off? I hear some serious dissonance there. I hear it in the original song too, which makes me wonder if the bass player just played the wrong note over a different chord.
@@thecharlieramirez hey Charlie...thanks for the sub! :) I'm using a Fender Jazz with EMG's plugged directly into my mac laptop using GarageBand....that's it ;)
very cool your videos would like to hear in the bass sound the music darlin think about you from the delegation band has a sensational bass sound, following your videos here in Brazil 🙏🤜🤛😎🎼🎙️🎸
Thanks a million. I'm considering learning this song on the bass as a skill building exercise over about a 3-mos time-frame. Stevie Wonder's music is also transforming. be well.
Excellent choice here Greg. Just a great tune! Hey- look into the Shirley Bassey song "Someday" for some great bass playing. Check it out and decide if it's worth the transcription. I think it is....you'll hear what I mean....
hi luv basses, it is a really good tune..for sure! :) I checked out that tune, nice song, but I'm going to pass on transcribing it. Wishing you all the best...cheers!
Greg Fairweather The more I look at it I see you did the right thing by changing the key signatures. It’s pretty uncommon for a hit song to have those kinds of key changes.
@@bassiejazz Hi Eli...thanks for that. Ya, there are a lot of different chords and changes for a "pop tune". I think Michael McDonald had something to do with it? ;)
Hi Quatro - thanks for the request...nice one ;) My concern is that it was most likely an upright bass on the recording and I'm not sure how it will sound on electric (I'm not setup to do videos on upright). I'll see if I can get a good sound...thanks! :)
this song always gives me the chills, its a perfect masterpiece
It's a great tune for sure. Thanks! :)
The bass line is what makes this song feel nostalgic imo
ya...maybe?
Yeah, for some reason the melody of the song is happy but the bass makes it feel nostalgic, so magic😂💫
YES. I love jamming bass on this one.
cool :)
i love that bass line at the end of verses prior to pre-chorus
:)
best part!

Amazing cover Greg!! I would to see you play Summer Breeze by George Benson & Al Jarreau - amazing bass line!
thank you Pedro. That would be a good one to do. I need to fulfill my "paid supporter" requests first though...thanks!
Nice work
thanks Marco!
Tiran's bass line on this song is severely underrated and a key element to the musicality of this song. I rarely hear it mentioned.

hmmm....it is a dissonant there. I'm not exactly sure why? Maybe something the piano or guitar is playing?
Thanks, thanks.. love your tabs... they are realy good... so I have a big wish for the next one.. 'What Can I Do - Smokie' I had to ask....

oo as someone who can't read music, this is pretty neat thats how it's written.
cool :) If you have the time, I suggest you start to learn it. There's a big learning curve, but the rewards are worth it :)
Is there another way of notating it without the key signature changes?
Sounds like you already know the answer to your own question ;)
@@BassCovers Not really ... That's why I asked. Or maybe 'Why did you choose not to use a static key signature?
@@bassiejazz You could write it in C and use accidentals...of course ;)

hi, my friend bassis,
there is a small gap with the sound and the video on the musical notes

What do you mean There isn't a living soul who can follow this anyway?

Can't tell but doesn't look like stock pickups. Do tell.
