NOTE: Here is another forgotten Polish pre-war tango. Mieczyslaw Fogg is as delightful as ever and a very good orchestra led by his friend Iwo Wesby - formerly conductor of the orchestra of the Qui Pro Quo theater in Warsaw and musical director of Syrena Records. Soon, the outbreak of World War II in Sept 1939 will put their friendship to a severe test. When Iwo Wesby succeeds in escaping from a Jewish ghetto in Nazi-occupied Warsaw, he will find a place to hide in Mieczyslaw Fogg's apartment. After the war ended, Wesby emigrated to Vienna and then to New York, where he was active until his death in 1966, conducting various orchestras in the clubs and venues of Polish and Jewish émigrés. But before leaving Poland, he left Mieczyslaw Fogg, as a sign of his gratitude, a portable Telefunken recording equipment, which later became the basis for Fogg to establish for some time his own record label, Fogg-Records, in the Communist-occupied Poland.

Indeed, they made a perfect musical couple. Fogg with his quite a "modern" way of singing (less affectionate and more - as you noticed - musically refined than other Polsih crooners of the era) and Wesby with his similarily elegant performances. And isn't it strange, how the fate examined the value of their friendship during the war?

Fogg to nieśmiertelna instytucja śpiewająca, wiadomo. Nie wiem czy ma choćby jedno nieudane wykonanie, pośród tych setek które nagrał. Pozdrawiam >

As far as the vintage song texts are considered, nothing ever changes under the sun. She (he) left him (her) although he (she) still loves her (him). She (he) is cruel to him (her) and he (she) feels pain or weeps sometimes. Etc., etc. :-))) So I don't think you lost much. Thanks for your compliment about the beauty of my native language. Yes, Polish is beautiful although perhaps it belongs to 2 or 3 most difficult languages in the world. :-))) Regards :-)

Oczywiście, nie była komunistyczna i dawała temu wyraz nie raz w swej powojennej historii. Zaraz to poprawię w info.
Piosenka z naiwnym tekstem. Pytanie dlaczeqo płaczesz ? Dlateqo,że miłość nie u wszystkicb kończy sie w tym samym czasie.. Facet mysli o sobie, on ma pustke w sercu, a ona nie.
Ja sie tylko pytam, co on ma jej wybaczyć? Czyżby to, że płacze ?
Jeśli chce się prawdy o uczuciach ludzkich, to trzeba czytać Szekspira. Teksty przedwojennych piosenek mają tyle samo wspólnego z prawdą o życiu i jego trudach, co komedie filmowe z Bodo. Nie należy traktować ich serio.
