Any true long term fan of the sport knows the enormity of his experience and knowledge and relentless quest for supremacy. Ron is a complex individual but deserves respect for all that he has brought to the sport. Well done Rob for getting Ron to talk about his distant past like this. Fascinating.

Although I vehemently disagree with your 1st point, I Couldn’t wholeheartedly agree with your 2nd point either, as we never know where our sport is gonna be in 5 years? Its looking depressingly like we will be desperate for another character as dedicated & revolutionary as Ron & McLaren have been. So as to save us from oblivion as we currently hurtle towards E Prix doom!! Even so, I wouldn’t dare argue against your 2nd statement either? His record is up there for all to gaze upon! He will (always)be renowned for him being a difficult man to deal with, but his yet his warmth & generosity is forever glossed over?
Just one small case in point & the ultimate in corporate (& selfless sacrifice)=
Before buying out Mayer at McLaren he named/related his motorsport ventures as- Project1, Project 2,3 then 4 and so on. Not as to sound snooty or trendy but rather as a way to ensure any accolades be attributed to the sponsors. That might not mean much to many but that’s huge?
Not bad for an equally large ego such as Ron’s........
I hope he does something else massive before checking out. I hear he was heavily funding research into a treatment for bad backs, which they hope will solve or cover over 30% of all symptoms and conditions that come with these ailments.
Finally, as for Steve Jobs? I think it’d be insulting to even refer to him as being the Ron Dennis of the communications world!
He could only dream of being on the same plain as Dennis!!
Only wish to have the same passion.
Never even conceive creating something as beautiful ........
Let’s face it, since 1981, Dennis’ merchandise has been designed to Shatter......
      ........ Not Crack........

I'll never tire of listening to Ron, massive respect for what he achieved and the way he achieved it.
Wish he would do more reminiscing now that he has stepped back but i guess it's not his style.

I have so much respect for Ron Dennis, old school thinking on your feet and having a natural feeling for business. It’s now an ego billionaires sport only saved by the new generation of driver’s and thankfully still controlled by the likes of Brawn, Domenicali. The way Dennis was removed from McLaren was disgraceful. Money and power that’s a worldwide problem.

I know exactly what he means about trust.
Someone at work made a situation look like it was my fault. It was only an hour later that he confessed. It put me in a really tricky spot.
I never ever spoke to him again.

Kimmi needed to go to Ferrari for winning his deserved title because old Ron was nuts😂. Then Hamilton destroyed mclaren and leaved to Mercedes without looking back.

It was a tough time all thise years ago and being a bit grumpy with a lot on your mind was fairly common John Surtees was considered grumpy by many..i respect Ron's efficient business acumen but to suggest Brabham was pretty ramshackle is a bit of a stretch, Jack Brabham taught Ron a lot and his generosity was well known with others not having parts to race and Jack would hear about it and go and give them the parts needed..i believe he could been a little bit more gracious to the great legacy Jack Brabham left..

Wow, watch out with that frustration. Hope it serves a purpose for you. I actually thought he did a good job of giving some insight in his persona. He still is one of the most influential people in the sport.

Dennis, honestly what a prat, not a moment of humility for great achievers and ambassadors of the past, Dennis is a awful person without any understanding of others and works within his own vain glorious prism.

Andrew Lynch, you are probably right! I don't know anything about him, apart from his being a genius of sorts in his field. But he definitely comes across as someone who feels he's really entitled to some special treatment and thinks he's better than everyone else. For a big part probably deservingly so, but of course there can be no real respect for an old man who in the path of his life does not reach the state of humility. Dennis is a person easy to admire from afar, but most likely everyone he's ever touched didn't enjoy that experience too much.

I cannot argue with this, however Ron is a fascinating person, and in spite of his arrogance I do admire him, even though Ron was a corporate, without him, Frank Williams, Ken Tyrell, and let’s not forget Bernie, the sport has become a corporation and is sadly missing these very unique personalities. I don’t even bother to watch it now.

How did you come to that conclusion? The only thing he said that you could say is negative is that Brabham was grumpy, which is probably true. Everything else was very respectful.
