    0:35 Elon Musk recently revealed that SpaceX's Booster 9 rocket has undergone an extensive redesign compared to previous iterations like Booster 7. While he stated there were around 1,000 changes, he did not say these all were made since the last launch, as many have stated, and not all of these changes had to be significant. The redesign of Booster 9 has been an ongoing process, spanning over 600 days of design modifications since its construction began in October 2021. This lengthy timeframe does not even include any design tweaks made on the drawing board before physical construction commenced. It's important to note that each new booster and starship sees numerous upgrades from past versions, ranging from major engineering decisions to minor changes of what fastener to use. So while Booster 9 touts" 1,000 changes," many likely occurred long before we saw the rocket on the pad. The key takeaway is that SpaceX continues to rapidly innovate with each new vehicle, even if we can't put an exact figure on the modifications.

    I doubt that "thousands of changes" is an exaggeration, it's probably technically true because a bit like checking changes into a code base the changes to physical designs will be tracked and his claim is probably based on some internal change tracking system. While all of those changes were presumably done for a good reason many of the changes will likely be seen as irrelevant to an outsider e.g. perhaps uprating a signal cable run from AWG24 to AWG22 cabling because the routing changed slightly and the cable run just got 28 cm longer, or the relocation of a couple of mounting points to make the attachment of a sub assembly transmit slightly less vibration to the mounted components.

    I don't understand the new water deluge system. How do they expect to shoot water up against the extremely powerful thrust of the booster? If they can produce that much water pressure under the booster then why not use that water pressure to shoot the booster up the first few miles or so? I think if the base was formed as a multi-layered dull dome whereby the water shoots out and downward out from between each layer, then this could make far more sense. The movement of water under the tip of the cone would keep that part cool, also.

    • @mikepotter4109
      @mikepotter4109 10 місяців тому

      So its a fire suppression system (please don't explode) not a water launch system right? I'm with you though, why not an magnetic lift system to get things moving? There's all these technologies but everything is based on cheaper and that's where your answer exists.

      Water diluge systems have been used for a while, im not a rocket expert so dont take everything I say without double checking but nasa has been using them for decades if Im right, like @mikepotter4109 said its a fire suppression system and also a force redirector, it cant redirect every bit of force from booster but it helps protect the launch pad a lot more than just letting it hit the pad with that much force, like I said i could be wrong about some of this but im somewhat sure its kinda true

    • @solifugus
      @solifugus 8 місяців тому

      @@izkrucker True but NASA uses a very different kind of water deluge. I lived in Florida for some years and frequently visited Kennedy Space Center. NASA's deluge floods massive amounts of water in from the sides. SpaceX's shoots it up through little holes from the bottom. I am not saying it won't work but, it seems to me like it will require a lot high pressure because it will have to shoot straight up against the pressure of the rocket's force.

    I think it's a great idea to make Mars like a planet where people can go like one two months a year holidays and come back, but to actually go live there? I don't think it's good idea. Because there is non clean air to breath just toxic air. Other thing, we are affraid that aliens are coming to get us but we want to go live upthere closer to them🤔. Where we will be living in practically hard plastic dooms that easily can be destroyed by them. I think we should really stay on earth where we live freely with clean air to breath. I don't see the necesity we have to change from a good clean our birth planet to live on that toxic one. If we want to change than let's change for a better one, not one that restric's us. But to each it's own. I see it as a big mistake to go live there. As a attraction planet👍great idea. Greetings from Netherland 🫡

    NASA experience 😂😂😂 they’ve had over a decade to build something to get to space and all they managed was a hashed up old shuttle lifter! Can’t even reuse it 😂😂😂

    I enjoy your channel, but you are a little thin on all your facts. Re-examine your reason for engine failures on the launch of star ship.... There are several stretches or speculations on some of your information.

    Sent to Mars 4 astronauts. Where when how. Misleading statement again.

    The Mars simulation won't be very effective.
    The participants know that they're still on Earth, and that there's no real danger; they can always bail out, if they can't handle it.

      Nobody seems to ever mention gravity either. Mars is closer to Moon gravity than it is to Earth's.
      Mars exploration is feasible, but colonization is virtually impossible.

      You're both missing the point. This is mostly about the simulating social dynamics of having to live with others for years in a cramped base.

    The extra section for the vents will make the rocket 120 meters tall, 120 meters sounds much more cool than 119 meters.

    Blue Origin does not have any crew rated vehicles!! They have no ability to do anything in space. New Glenn is far from flight ready. They may have a lot of money (maybe), but they have lost all of their most talented engineers. They are a joke.

    Starship will never land on the moon or Mars. Not on the moon because it is just so inefficient, there are strong reasons for the Apollo moon lander to be 2 stage. Not on Mars because anybody landing directly will be in no condition to walk. A Mars gateway is an absolute requirement for success.

      Good achievement-ready attitude. I'm sure you've accomplished a lot with that view. Of course, if I ran the programs in question, all those things would get done.
