Dream Theater // The Alien // All Guitar Solos + TABS

Hi! These are the guitar solos from "The Alien" by Dream Theater, the middle solo was very fun and challenging to play (especially for the time signature), i think JP has one of the coolest lead tones ever here. I used the Neural DSP Archetype "Nolly" for the main tone and my new Kiesel DC700 with Fishman fluence modern pickups. I hope you will like my version, thanks for watching!

I like how you played bars 43-44 in a different position than Petrucci does. If you watch live videos of him, you can see that he starts that run on the 16th fret of the low E string. I've tried it his way and your way and I suck at both! LOL!

@@SteYellowcard no worries at all. Yes try changing the fps. That will work perfectly.

@@SteYellowcard FPS is only one portion, shutter speed should in general follow the 180 degree rule to get proper motion blur (for 30fps set the shutter to 1/60) but if you can adjust it manually then you can play around with the shutter speed to try to get rid of flickering too. Your monitor is probably 50-60 hz so a shutter speed of 1/50 or 1/60 may get rid of it

I have a question. Im quite new to guitar equipment i general and I just love the sound you`re producing here. I saw the description of what equipment you used and would like to know that the only program you used was Neural DSP - Nolly? Did you use any other spesific amps for this sound, or other equipment I should know about?

Hi man! I sold my axefx2 2 years ago, since then i used only Neural DSP stuff, the Nolly is just so sick and versatile. I think here i used a stock preset, it just sounds sick out of the box. Must to say that also the pickup on my Kiesel are extremely powerfull for this genre so u must be careful also on the pickup choice. Hope i helped someway, cheers!
