  • A full-annotated-in-2021 B747 trans-Atlantic flight video--complete with air traffic control soundtrack, altitude, location, & flight-path information. Begins with taxiing & taking off from San Francisco International Airport runway 28R, passing the industrial city of South San Francisco and west of the San Francisco shoreline, before turning northeast for a view of the city's downtown Embarcadero district towers, Alcatraz, the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, Mount Diablo, the Sacramento Delta, Lake Tahoe, Donner Lake, Reno, northern Nevada, southeastern Idaho, and Montana.
After crossing the Canadian border southwest of Regina, the flight continues northeasterly over the rest of Saskatchewan, then Manitoba, Hudson Bay, Far North Quebec and Arctic Baffin Island.
At daybreak, the course turns southeasterly above the North Atlantic between Greenland and south of Iceland. ATC exchanges can be heard as the flight enters the "Shamrock" airspace of Shannon, followed by NATS' "Scottish" airspace of Prestwick air traffic control zones.
Final approach descent begins over north and east London, affording views of central London landmarks: the Gherkin, London Eye & Westminster Palace (UK Parliament) along River Thames, and Hyde Park before landing to the west on Heathrow Airport's runway 27L.
(The video here is a newly reannotated edition of a previously annotated version which relied on You Tube's own annotation software; annotations on that version was erased by You Tube when it ceased its annotation support in 2019.)

Flights from SFO to Northern Europe fly directly over my back yard, here in Sacramento. At 20,000 ft and climbing, they are silent shiny specks leaving contrails. I wonder about who is on them and where and why they are going, just like when I fly, I wonder about all the lives and stories down in the little clusters of asphalt and orange lights. I never close my window shade. Flight is magic.

Yeah, I feel the same when I fly, I look down at the visually tiny clusters of towns or cities and know that they're doing different things about their daily life,, and I wonder if anyone there has stopped for a minute or even several seconds and looked up and seen the tiny speck of metal with vapor trails that I'm on. And I wonder if they stop and think "I wonder if anyone 35,000 ft up there is looking down here and wondering if we're looking up and seeing them".
I live in Kansas City, but I sometimes have seen tiny specks with vapor trails flying over my home. I know that they're not aircrafts on their descent to KCI airport because those aircrafts are much lower and I've seen them too. Those planes have no vapor trails and I can usually make out which airline they are. The planes 35,000 ft up are too far away to tell, they're just tiny silver specks with long vapor trails, and they're the flights flying cross country, or a shorter route that passes over Kansas City. Examples of these routes may be St. Louis to Denver, Chicago to Albuquerque, Cleveland to Phoenix, Atlanta to Portland (Oregon),, or a NY to LA flight may fly directly over KC.
I've flown over major cities also enroute to a destination, 3 examples I remember are me flying over Memphis on a KC to Atlanta flight, flying over Dallas on a KC to Houston flight, and once flying over Chicago on a London to Houston flight. Anyway, I've had many of the same interests as you about flying and airline travel

@@backpacktrot, I sure hope they will, as a Pilot, Channel 9 always made catching a ride on United a fun ride and always made the flights I was on enjoyable. What was nothing more than useless noise to many was always music in my ears cruising through the skies! All the Best to you in your travels!!!

Nice, another trot video! I've been watching your videos occasionally during the last year, imagining being there with you as you went to all of those beautiful places (especially the loneliest highway videos)

Hello! I'm one of your big fan. I'm so happy to watch your work again this time! The very first time I watched your work was you flew from YVR to NRT on AC, and NRT to HKG on UA and I was amazed your kindness and thoughtfulness for watchers that you have made the small sectors so that those who looking for very specific scene, ones can jump and back so forth! Needless to say, the qualities of the every videos are simply beautiful! I regret I am not able to watch like it used to be and fully understand you have your personal life. But if there will be a chance, I am looking forward the brand new air travel series again( I know its very hard to hop on and fly because of the mess in the whole world right now...), so please don't mind me. I play your former videos again and again and every time I watch them, there are new findings! Anyway, I would like to show my gratitude how I appreciate you uploaded pieces of fine art work and keep enjoy flying! Sorry for the long comment. Thank you so much from Tokyo!

Thank you remembering me from that far back. Some day, I hope to redo the location annotations of more videos whose You Tube-supported annotations were lost when You Tube ceased supporting them in 2019.

Thanks for viewing. I hope I'll get to re-annotate (as new uploads like this SFO-LHR one) more of the previously annotated videos when You Tube stopped supporting its own annotation capability in 2019.
