    Trying to figure out how to use this extremely well designed resp. to it's full potential. Male, mid 60s COPD #4 enjoys strong blow-back deep into lungs to stretch pleura / gain any capacity I can.
    Also this deep pressure into the bottom of lungs seems to stimulate parts that are finally free from shallow breathing so many cigarettes for so many years.
    I see them getting pink & coming to life again if only in my head. Positive air flow needs some some positive thinking IMHO.
    Only way I can seem to make the Astral 150 do this is by leaving it loose to my face. It starts throwing more air out and I suck it down deep!
    I guess I'm looking for it to exercise with me while I have it. The "respiratory specialist" who dropped it off knew how to plug it in and size it to my face but info was hard to come by.
    To my fellow COPD people:
    This disease will make you slow down but try not to let it stop you. Fatigue can be worked around in spurts. Work in the garden 5 / 10 minutes, rest. etc etc.
    They're too eager to throw O2 at you. Fight the good fight!
    Don't let them scare you away from Prednisone either.
    I can put up w/ side effects but not suffocation!

    I have an Astral. I think they are great vents. The only thing I don’t like is the limited modes with a passive circuit. This makes mobility very hard having to use a double limb Circuit. But I can take the Ventilator on my Golf Cart. That’s what matters to me.

    Where can you obtain the different circuit adapters? They seem impossible to find online.

      Astral is only 3.2 kg (7.1 lb) which is lighter than the market-leading life support ventilator. Please see our page for more information: bit.ly/34sDURU

    hello qquick question, i have a humidifer tht has to chambers ro fill in water every 24hr, how to i pull out the chamber, or how do i even put in warer?

    • @ResMed
      @ResMed  Рік тому

      This would depend on the humidifier itself specifically, and instructions for it can be found in its user guide. We'd also recommend reaching out to the person or company who supplied it to you as they can also provide more direct assistance with this for you.

    Does this device help remove CO2?

    • @ResMed
      @ResMed  2 роки тому

      Hi Gerald, Yes Non-invasive ventilation, or NIV, can help you reduce carbon dioxide levels if you have hypercapnia. This therapy involves delivering pressurized room air through a machine (like the Astral 150) to your lungs via a mask or mouthpiece. NIV changes pressure levels to help you exhale excess carbon dioxide. To learn more, see our product page here: bit.ly/3htg7V3

    I was trying to read the screen, but you were pushing buttons before I could see what you were doing. Now I have to watch it over, pausing you to read the screen and pausing again to see what you are pushing. Please slow yourself and show us what is offered and what you are pushing and why you are pushing it. Otherwise it was a good video.

    I just got a 150 with a modem and I do not think they set it up right. I am not getting good pressure and it does not feel like my lungs are expanding very much. I have very bad COPD and flow 6L of oxygen, when I go to bed my sp02 is 97 when I wake up it's down to around 86. At best I get 3 to 4 hours of sleep. Sorry to say but I was using a Dream station S/T with settings of 4/19 on Bipap, with it I was getting 6 to 8 hours of sleep only waking up to go to the bathroom. When I take a breath the little green bar only goes up to 10. I am 8 weeks into using this and I am about to go back to using my other unit.

      The pressure setting on your machine is something that's set by your medical equipment supplier based on those prescribed by your doctor. If you find your device is not providing the necessary pressure needed, please discuss this with your doctor. They may be able to change the settings themselves or may guide you back to your supplier for an evaluation of your device or to have these changes made for you.

      Most likely the person who set up your Astral didn't put in the correct settings that were prescribed by your doctor. If the IPAP is only going to 10, and it's not because the breathe is prematurely cut off during inhalation, then it's simply set at the wrong IPAP pressure. Verify your prescription, and if indeed it's 19/4, change it yourself according to the prescription if the DME refuses to do anything. It's better than being inadequately treated and potentially ending up in the hospital.
