dale Mcclennon, Yes I noticed that and I am pretty far down on the comment section. My pretty and 2 yr 3 month old $1,100 GE side by side took a crap. I had to fire up the 30 year old fridge that I replaced it with to save some of the food. Over 30 yrs of use, I replaced 2 fan motors and a couple of plastic rack holders. No help at this site. They don't make them like they used to.
We have GE refrigerator, side by side. Freezer still producing ice but the refrigerator side is not cooling enough. When I press the cooler button on refrigerator side actual reading is 2.32. Try to adjust for higher temperature by pushing the colder button, it changed to 32 no more #2. Is that like 32 degrees f? Please advise. Thank you.

Is there a way to kick off the defrost heater? I think the door was cracked open last night and the actual temp of the refrigerator is 42F and the actual freezer temp is -4F. I am hoping to quickly defrost any frost built up overnight with the heater.

When you try to set the actual temperature, does your control show your new setting for a short period of time before it goes back to 13 and 45? If so, it can take a little while for the refrigerator temperature to stabilize to your new setting. If your control will not allow you to select a new setting, try resetting your circuit breaker. I have a GE model that seems to be this very one in the video. It's a side-by-side model # GSS25QGTA WW. The bottom half of the freezer side and refrigerator side seem to be cooling the bottoms of each side, and not the top. A friend tried cleaning the coils, but it's the same. After a few days, and even a 20lbs bag of ice from the supermarket in the freezer, the digital display actual temperature reads: 15 for freezer, 55 for refrigerator. The seals around the doors are in great shape, and the doors are not askew in any form away from the unit, and it is level with the ground. It's never been laid down that I know of, and I don't even know what year this fridge is. Any information at all would be very much appreciated as to what I could do to repair this problem. I absolutely love this fridge, and I don't know if it's just mechanical failure, or human error which brought these problems on.

Moved into a home that had a 5yr old GE Profile FSS6PKX Side by Side. The climate control is freaking out. Chime alarm continually beeping. When I hold down the energy saver and alarm buttons it turns all but the filter icon off. This seems to calm the beeps down. But eventually the chimes return and the 38deg and -2 freeze icons. Start flashing and jumping in tremp (hi low hi low etc0 I Tried unplugging to hopefully reset. That did nothing. . Seems to come and go. Any hints as to what is causing this?

side by side. food amount has fluctuated. so cannot say for sure if it contributes to the situation or not. we did add a couple of things and it went up to 33 from 30 and even though i press until it reaches 45 and it goes back down every time. have done this at least 3 times every day. sometimes it returns to 30, sometimes 33
+j kelam Gotcha...I know you were hoping for another outcome but at this point we would recommend calling service. If they've already told you that you'll need to replace your control panel then that's probably what you'll need to do but I'd work with the team to be sure.
purchased home in 2014 with new GE side by side fridge model GSCS3PGXGFSS SERIAL IS LA 403850 it cools fine in the freezer and fridge however, the display where you dispense water and ice is acting weird after a power outage when you press the lever for ice or water it flashes the temp and does not dispense water or ice tried unplugging it and same issue also tried resetting the display by setting it off by raising the temp, then hitting cool to reset to factory default, still flashes temp and does not give water or ice any ideas?

To be honest, I called GE Consumer Service. They couldn't get a service tech out to see me for five days. I had already lost 150$ worth of groceries and frankly, the customer service rep was very rude. I was then informed that I couldn't return the item because 48 hours had lapsed since purchase (which wasn't true). It took a week for it to be delivered. Home Depot thankfully took care of it and we went with another brand. Its a shame because we loved the actual product, but while I understand a product not working right away I was worried about what would happen in the future because of my terrible first experience with the customer service.

Hi, William. Thanks for reaching out to us. While you can adjust the settings to funnel more cold air into the fresh food compartment, you cannot turn off the freezer department, alone. To review additional details on the operation of the controls for most GE models manufactured after 1995, please take a look at our below information: Fresh-Food Controls: The freezer supplies cold air to both compartments. Cold air is circulated from the freezer to the fresh food compartment via a damper. The fresh food control regulates the damper between the two compartments by controlling the amount of cold air that flows into the fresh food compartment. Freezer Controls: The higher the setting, the longer the compressor runs and as a result the colder both sections become. The freezer setting determines the compressor and freezer fan running times. Turning the freezer control to OFF shuts off the compressor and consequently, shuts off cooling in both the fresh-food and freezer compartments. Note: These are the models with numbered controls. On single control models, insert a coin into the slot in the middle of the dial and adjust the control. The simplest way to determine which control determines how long the compressor will run and in effect, how cold the entire refrigerator can become, is to look for the control with the OFF indicator on the control. If there was a short power outage, the compressor overload will cycle on & off (not the compressor) until the refrigerant system equalizes at which point the compressor will start & refrigeration will resume. Closed containers of water, food or non-perishables will help to stabilize the temperature. This is because the items in the refrigerator absorb the cold, and actually work to help the refrigerator maintain a steady temperature. This is an older version but I suppose the same idea applies. Shit I didn’t know about waiting 24 hrs between each change. My fridge is too cold and freezing up all my yogurt, milk etc so I kept pushing the temperature button up and down and playing around with it…

Hello - I woke up this morning to see my settings displayed on my refrigerator. The freezer is at 13 and the fridge at 45. What could have possible happened? I tried setting it to the actual temp (0 & 37) but it's still showing 13 & 45. Does it take 24 hours? And why is it still being displayed? Is it trying to reach that temperature? Please help.

When you try to set the actual temperature, does your control show your new setting for a short period of time before it goes back to 13 and 45? If so, it can take a little while for the refrigerator temperature to stabilize to your new setting. If your control will not allow you to select a new setting, try resetting your circuit breaker. Hello Jakeb70634, We recommend resetting the electronics by flipping the breaker off or unplugging the unit for a minute. (During this time don't open the doors). If this doesn't help. We recommend contacting GE Consumer Service at 1-800-432-2737.

Hello. When you adjust the temperature, you’re adjusting the set temperature of the unit. The actual temperature of the refrigerator and freezer may vary a bit from the set temperature/the temperature you adjust - this is normal.

Hi, I see in all of your responses to reset the control panel, that you instruct to shut off the circuit breaker for at least a minute. Wouldn't it be the same thing just to unplug it from the wall for the same amount of time?

I have a GE model that seems to be this very one in the video. It's a side-by-side model # GSS25QGTA WW. The bottom half of the freezer side and refrigerator side seem to be cooling the bottoms of each side, and not the top. A friend tried cleaning the coils, but it's the same. After a few days, and even a 20lbs bag of ice from the supermarket in the freezer, the digital display actual temperature reads: 15 for freezer, 55 for refrigerator. The seals around the doors are in great shape, and the doors are not askew in any form away from the unit, and it is level with the ground. It's never been laid down that I know of, and I don't even know what year this fridge is. Any information at all would be very much appreciated as to what I could do to repair this problem. I absolutely love this fridge, and I don't know if it's just mechanical failure, or human error which brought these problems on.

Moved into a home that had a 5yr old GE Profile FSS6PKX Side by Side. The climate control is freaking out. Chime alarm continually beeping. When I hold down the energy saver and alarm buttons it turns all but the filter icon off. This seems to calm the beeps down. But eventually the chimes return and the 38deg and -2 freeze icons. Start flashing and jumping in tremp (hi low hi low etc0 I Tried unplugging to hopefully reset. That did nothing. . Seems to come and go. Any hints as to what is causing this?

To be honest, I called GE Consumer Service. They couldn't get a service tech out to see me for five days. I had already lost 150$ worth of groceries and frankly, the customer service rep was very rude. I was then informed that I couldn't return the item because 48 hours had lapsed since purchase (which wasn't true). It took a week for it to be delivered. Home Depot thankfully took care of it and we went with another brand.
Its a shame because we loved the actual product, but while I understand a product not working right away I was worried about what would happen in the future because of my terrible first experience with the customer service.

I have the problem that the freezer stays at zero but the fridge won't stay at 37. It drops to 30 and 29 even. What is happening? Hi, William. Thanks for reaching out to us. While you can adjust the settings to funnel more cold air into the fresh food compartment, you cannot turn off the freezer department, alone.
To review additional details on the operation of the controls for most GE models manufactured after 1995, please take a look at our below information:
Fresh-Food Controls: The freezer supplies cold air to both compartments. Cold air is circulated from the freezer to the fresh food compartment via a damper. The fresh food control regulates the damper between the two compartments by controlling the amount of cold air that flows into the fresh food compartment.
Freezer Controls: The higher the setting, the longer the compressor runs and as a result the colder both sections become. The freezer setting determines the compressor and freezer fan running times. Turning the freezer control to OFF shuts off the compressor and consequently, shuts off cooling in both the fresh-food and freezer compartments.
Note: These are the models with numbered controls. On single control models, insert a coin into the slot in the middle of the dial and adjust the control.
The simplest way to determine which control determines how long the compressor will run and in effect, how cold the entire refrigerator can become, is to look for the control with the OFF indicator on the control.

If there was a short power outage, the compressor overload will cycle on & off (not the compressor) until the refrigerant system equalizes at which point the compressor will start & refrigeration will resume. Closed containers of water, food or non-perishables will help to stabilize the temperature. This is because the items in the refrigerator absorb the cold, and actually work to help the refrigerator maintain a steady temperature. Shit I didn’t know about waiting 24 hrs between each change. My fridge is too cold and freezing up all my yogurt, milk etc so I kept pushing the temperature button up and down and playing around with it…
