Hi Lesley , I am a nurse 65 years , spent the last 30 years in care of the older person , I have been running a daycare for older people , I found that even if people say they hate social gathering etc , but social interaction appears important , a lot of older people end up in long term care , and it appears a money spinner for companies , where money is not spent in keeping people in their own homes if at all possible , now I am still working in a long stay unit where we all so scared of this dreaded virus , Thank God to-date no virus , I love your idea on writing this book , can’t wait to read it , just found you on Tube , also listened to your lecture on Mohammed , your amazing , it’s 4 am , must be at work at 7 am xxxx

My thoughts on aging - the soul is timeless, and never ages. It just accumulates experiential knowledge with time. As a muslim Lesley, I believe that the new born is a primordial essence in communication with the angels and the alternate realities that Allah has hidden from the older child - by veils over the inner eye/ being. This newborn can literally experience and commune with the angels which as we get older, we lose the ability to commune with. To me successful aging is a return as an adult to the state of a newborn - to become so pure in heart and mind, through worship, reflection, study and attempts at obedience with what God has guided us to, that the veils are removed and we become united with God by going deep into our own selves ---- to me this is successful aging. It is just the body that ages and loses ability to resist the strain/evil of the world (fundamental part of God's creation) . As a muslim, to die without any disease or strain on the body is successful aging- ie to have treated the body with the care and respect it ought to have been shown since the body is an "amanah" / "trust" from Allah.
