On 4th June 2007, Late Nindu Langthasa (my father), Late Purnendu Langthasa and Late Ajit Bodo were assassinated in cold blood by terrorists. It was a political assassination and the bereaved families have not received justice till date.
While this day brings back memories of the pain, we felt it was not enough to just remember their lives on this date every year and to say a few prayers. We need to walk on the path that they created for us and we need to build communities. Communities which are progressive, united and most importantly, which respects knowledge and learning.
Haflong had a buzzing quiz culture back in the 90s but slowly there has been a decline in such activities as schools and parents are pushing students into performing better in board examinations. Quiz, debates, science fairs etc have sadly taken a back seat.
iQUIZ is a small effort to bring the quiz culture back and with it we hope to keep creating progressive and vibrant cultures like our beloved leaders whom we lost on this fateful day.
