- Assembly of a 4.5ft rooftop tower from W8IO to support a 20-6 meter Hexbeam antenna from KIO Technologies. Not shown, I installed a Yaesu G-1000 DX rotor with a controller from Green Heron Engineering. It's all working very well with a very stable mount.
Thanks to my friends for helping move the antenna from ground to roof.
THanks for this pictorial. I am wondering if you installed any reinforcements on the underside of the roof to attach the tower to?

I could not put them on the underside. The construction of the shack is such that it would take someone a lot smaller than me to get into the crawl space.
I opted to use anchor bolts and some spray sealant around them. It has held solid. Wind has little effect but I had a freezing snow this last year which stuck to all the wiring and bent it nearly completely upside down. I was expecting something to break but it held and when the ice melted it went back to it's original shape. Whew! 73, Cal AI6MC
How did you ground the tower?
@@mstrmick Just noticed this reply. What were the anchor bolts anchored to?
@@Dennis-tf2cs After having it up a couple of years, wintertime would bring a freezing snow that broke one of the fiberglass arms. Pain to replace up on the roof so I repositioned the tower on the ground. No difference that I can detect. Grounding is done by directly attaching a grounding strap to a ground rod. I also have lightning arrestors attached to the rotor cable and to the antenna coax before it comes into the shack.
Would this tripod support a y- quad beam?
I would check with the manufacturer
