The attention to detail that you have with respect to every portfolio is amazing. Gives valuable insights into what it really takes to get hired as a UX/UI Developer
as a ux design intern, this was super insightful. making my portfolio was one of the most challenging and time consuming parts of the recruitment process, and you gave a ton of tips that definitely helped me be successful. cant wait to see more!
I just want to thank you for the content you make. I am in my final quarter in my library info science grad program and I decided to take an IA course. I just fell in love with ux design because of this class and decided in my final quarter to switch careers but I didn't know where to start. I came across your channel while trying to find advice on how to build my portfolio. The information I've learned from your channel has been so helpful to me. Thank you again for this amazing content!
Thank you.. I see ur theme in all ur videos and its good reinforcement. Stay true to ux (if thats ur focus) and a lot comes down to research, understanding the problem, goals and measuring the goals and outcomes etc.
Thank you for doing those kind of videos! There really is not a whole lot of excellent content on UA-cam in terms of UX. For UI related stuff it’s not really an issue.
Hi! Excelent video, I'm planning to get into the area of UX, and your channel has been amazing so far with all the portfolio reviews! One question that I have from this video is related to the hypothesis. How would I improve my outcomes and percentages findings in a project similar to this one, where I don't have a functional product, but only the prototype. Is there a way that I could measure those points from my hypothesis in a user testing session? Again, very good content :)
I'm a Psychologist, i like doing research but i also feel like i have an "artist soul" and like design haha even though i never gave it a chance. So when i discovered UX design I was inmediately hooked. So now i'm just trying to get in to it, but i don't which are the first setps, where should i start. And also, How long do you think it would take me to get a fisrt Job or internship. It's not that I want to do things quickly but i get super motivated when i start to see results and meaning to a decision so important. Thank you btw, and great video!
I'm here to give you more engagement (via comment). You deserve it. So much. A PROMISE: When I get my first UX job I'll become a paid member and buy your merch
Hey Vy, Thank you for another excellent video. Always look forward to watching your videos as they are very informative (and don't waffle on.) I found it interesting when you said you see a lot of junior UX designers focusing on features during user testing and this is what I have done. So I am wondering, how would you put the focus on testing the product with a non-features focus, i.e. the purpose and the meaning, during user testing sessions? My current understanding is that user testing is task based, but would love to hear if this is just one of many approaches. And you also said the to be journey is also not the best way to go about user journey maps (which i agree with) however it is the next best thing to As-is journeys when you don't have access to current users? (particularly if there is hardly any competitors out there with similar products for users to use) I hope that makes sense. Thanks again for your videos, they're really helpful!! :)
hey loaded comment and great Qs! let me quickly run through: - user testing beyond features: this is where one would need to test those tasks right, in the scenarios where the users would go through their day to days simulating typical approach to solving their problem. The feedback would be still around the proposed solution, but you could clearly see if there's even a hint of users adopting it and what you could do next; people might say yes this is a cool app and feature and that they would (in theory) use it, but one needs to dig deeper, pilot it, run diary studies to see if that's the case; - to be journeys can be done in the mapping - that's ok, what's not ok is to make a to-be journey but don't have a map for as-is; It signals solutionising without research; - you always have access to users, and people are completing thoise tasks using other tools and means - just because there's no other app that does what you want to introduce it doesnt mean your users are clueless or not achieving their goals. That's the whole point of user research - digging into the day to days of the user seeing what they are doing now, what are the pain points, where are the key areas to improve and add a better set of touchpoints or features; A lot of beginner designers start with an idea that they need to make an app - that's a backwards approach; even if you are limited with the tech of lets say an app, you still need to unpack they typical journeys the users take, then see how that digital way could solve or improve it. I might make a video on this
Hello, Have been following your channel for quite some time. Great stuff.!! Also, I have a question. Could you explain what is the difference between stakeholders and users? Can users be stakeholders or vice versa?
Hey simply put stakeholders can be split into two groups: Internal (owners and people involved in the making e.g. employees; ) and external (customers, users, suppliers, communities, etc.) - ultimately anyone who has interest in the subject and can affect or be affected by it. I like NNG take that users are the only stakeholders that are never invited into the workshops or business meetings
Hey, maybe I could have explained it clearer. There's definitely never a bad time to distill information using tools/methods like affinity mapping. Because the mapping of insights got immediately paired with HMW that jumped into ideations way too quick. As mentioned understanding the as is and making clear that the actual user pain points and day-to-day scenarios are addressed, prioritised and taken further was what was missing; I'd expect a good amount of user research unpacking those survey themes, interviews in the as-is states and clearly indicating the areas where the hypothesis could be further explored.
As a step you can affinity map whenever - it's too early to jump into it because the proper opportunity is not assessed yet. It's a common example where people already have in mind that they will design an app and then look for problems to solve. It should be the other way.
Hello, I am a beginner in the field of user experience, and I noticed in one of your video that you are talking about a server on Discord, how can I join it

Yes, look into SUS, PURE for a few subjects and NPS if testing en-masse

@@vaexperience Thank you !!
I am genuinely interested in both UI/UX 😭
When to do affinity diagrams if not after data collection, like the interviews and surveys she did? Why was that to early?
Hey, maybe I could have explained it clearer. There's definitely never a bad time to distill information using tools/methods like affinity mapping. Because the mapping of insights got immediately paired with HMW that jumped into ideations way too quick. why you say affinity map its to early ? I thought after interviewing you do an affinity map and take insights and then personas, am i wrong?
As a step you can affinity map whenever - it's too early to jump into it because the proper opportunity is not assessed yet. It's a common example where people already have in mind that they will design an app and then look for problems to solve. It should be the other way.

Hey check one of the latest videos on the ux community; also there's a link somewhere on the channel
How to submit case studies for review?
Hey, the waitlist is large - but you can email to add to it, just will take some time to get to it
@@vaexperience okay thank you Sir 🙏🏻
