Overselling is honestly the worse sin of milsurp compared to buying. The milsurp market is a slog right now with ammo being price gouged. Meanwhile it feels like everyone is relying off dated pricing that's not at all adjusted for inflation. Unless it's matching parts, an Italian Carcano example shouldn't be selling for more than 700 unless parts are matching or if it's the JFK assassin's Carcano.

No one collects platonic forms. Depends on which particular Carcano. The m91 moschetto or TS that have been recently imported en masse typically shouldn’t be much more than $250, depending. If the Kennedy gun was ever sold I wouldn’t be surprised if it would go for six figures.

Also, start with buying lots of small stuff. Many items are overpriced online (or not available at all), so meeting fellow collectors and building connections is really important.
I bought a few SSh-68 helmets for 5 dollars a piece, and the seller showed me around his collection. He had everything from WW2 tanks to Soviet aircrafts. I ended up buying ATGM's and recoilless rifles from him for dirt cheap.

    All I care:
    -Low Price tag
-low price & ample availability of it's ammo.
    -Making a safe loud bang.
History etc etc will come free with it.

What blows my mind is the people that will come on a discussion board asking what the gun they just bought is worth, or if it’s “real”, etc. Especially the types with more money than sense-is this (obviously faked) “super duper rare SS k98k” worth the $5k I paid for it? Or this rare crested vz. 24 (that was obviously laser engraved recently) worth the ridiculous price I paid. 💀💀😂
Homie…you obviously know how to use the internet to some degree-why didn’t you figure that out before?

I use to buy them for less then 60$ in the 80s ww2 surpluses rifles where not expensive until after 2000. In 96 i got my first Russian AK and ammo was less than 60 cents a round. makes me sick thinking about what my collection would be worth today. Sold it all around 99
