Day 11 of asking for Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree
Insane experience to see my artwork on my favourite podcast! - & so nice to see Alton Towers getting a mention on the pod, potential future topic? ;)
Love that poster! Excellent work!
Smiler time [rubs hands]
cash that check boys - for the first time, i got an ad at every ad break
Thrilled to hear about the continued trend of people seeing Tony Hawk in the most casual locations and not being recognized.
He was posted on the r/denver subreddit a few days ago, skating the denver skate park
Wonder what he’s up to these days

I bet it's awesome to be famous but not known for how you look
Ryan’s in cosplay this is gonna be good
I can really feel the passion Ryan has for amusement parks in these vids. It's super inspiring!
So glad to see this series surviving!
the banter during the ad read is a fun change
I think it would be rad if y’all did a “treat pairing” for each ride representing a fun culinary nod to the themes of the ride. People love food dudes!
We need some FYA merch 😜
Episode suggestion. Rate generic carnival rides. Gravitron, ferris wheel, swinging pirate ship. Super fast teacups. That sort of stuff.
"I think I got this bandana for Frontier Day, when I was in 8th grade..." long and awkward pause
I love this show.
The opening song to this podcast is a mf banger
"My middle name is Danger" -Ryan S. Bergara
I am planning a trip to California to go to Disneyland next year and the way in which Ryan in particular gushes about this park really makes me want to do a Knott’s day while I am there! I have never been but it sounds like a blast.
If this is a selling point, their mascot is Snoopy & company and they have tons of boysenberry treats!
I am very much here for the Alton Towers representation in this ep
love seeing ryan share the same love and appreciation i have for knotts, it’s not perfect but it’s home for me
Ryan and Shane’s boysenberry fest video was what introduced me to the idea of Knott’s years ago and made me want to visit! Finally made it to the park for the first time in 2022, but we were there on a Saturday so Timber Mountain ended up one of the only rides we got on that day. TLDR the Average Tourist test def checks out on this one lol. Was fun to relive that and see things come full circle with this ep!!
love this episode!! Shout out to regional parks!! Boulder Dash at Lake Compounce will always be my favorite coaster! even if rides arent world class they are still fun and full of good memories!
If this doesn’t pass the test I’m gonna cry
i looooove all the knotts rides you guys are reviewing💓 knotts is one of my fav underrated parks
I can't wait for the nemesis, smiler and wicker man eps one day! All world class.
Never seen or heard of this thing, but listening to this podcast has made me excited to maybe try it one day
I did get dunked on one time when the wood box malfunctioned. I also got sprayed by the hose at the end cause it wasn’t working as well lol. I love the fact that Timber Mountain log Ride came before Splash mountain. Knott and Disney were very good friends and would recommend looking into that history ❤❤❤
I love this series! Makes my day!
LOL at the bear conversation! So I guess Ryan would choose the man?
I rode El Asserradero a few weeks ago, and I've done Timber Mountain as well. I'm actually close to getting every arrow log flume and mine ride in the US. Loving the pod!
Thrilled to see a Billy Hill & The Hillbillies shout out! They played a huge part in my childhood trips to Disneyland and we were so sad to see them go.
Every time you two talk about Knott's Berry Farm, it reminds me I haven't been since I was a kid and I really need to go back some day because I always had a great time when I did go. I don't even remember if I ever went on the log ride before either so even more reason for me to go back soon!
There used to be a log flume at Alton Towers, it had a dark ride section too with a very scary duck. There was no connection to the duck on the ride, there was just a pitch black tunnel and then a spotlight would turn on and there's be a massive duck animatronic. It scared us to death when we went on a school trip after our last GCSE exams. 😂
I was listening to this like a podcast while I was doing work around the house and didnt look down until 49:07 and finally saw Ryan had dressed the part
I say bump it all, make the film "How We Fell: The Silent Suffering of Sawyers" and it wraps up in a moonshine hootenanny where they all write their names in the log at the end and a the main character tired, but hopeful and yells “Save me some moonshine!”
I’d love to hear more about regional parks and rides! They’re backbone of America 🫡🫡🫡
I love this podcast so much! Please do Monster Mansion from Six Flags Over Georgia! I’m not a popular theme park youtuber, but I could talk about that ride forever if you ever wanna have a normal dude on as a guest haha
to answer an early question: Alton Towers *used* to have a log flume but they closed it to make way for their wooden coaster Wicker Man. That one would be a great choice for an episode topic imo.
I’ve also had the geyser malfunction for me! But even better was when I was on the Jungle Cruise and the elephant that is shooting a stream of water across the boats path and turns off because he “forgot to pack his trunk” did not turn off the stream for us
So it just blasted the boat and me and my family lol
Watching this with my daughter while waiting in line to get onto the timber log ride now!❤
You guys need to have Provost as your guest!
I used to work at this ride! So exciting to see you talk about it. It’s fun to hear it from your perspective vs knowing the operations side :)
It didn’t happen on Timber Mountain Log Ride, but my brother got drenched on Bigfoot Rapids! They used to leave the waterfall on and he went right under it. Mom and Dad had to go buy him a whole new outfit at the gift shop, and my suggestion was the “I survived Bigfoot Rapids!” t-shirt haha
Please please please have Mammoth Club on the podcast one of these days 🙏🏻
Log/boat/raft flume style rides are my favorite. Doesn't even have to have a huge drop, there is something adventurous about boarding a water craft. Have you been on the spiritual successor? The Paul Bunyan Log Chute at Mall of America!!!! I just did the test in my head along with you and it got the same score. Go see it.
"A coaster for a coaster" went unappreciated xD
Aw hell yeah man! I grew up in Bellflower. Hence I grew up going to Knotts 🥰 thanks for covering this ride.
Every year my family would go to merry farm because the entire ghost town area was free to enter and shop. We would also go watch the Christmas carol play in the birdcage theater.
Love the more regional amusement parks versus the big theme park episodes, Disney and universal channels are a dime a dozen but six flags and cedar fair don’t get enough recognition and they’ve got the craziest rides even if they generally lack theming
I’m curious if y’all have ever made it to silver dollar city in Missouri? They redid “Fire in the Hole” a pretty cool themed ride. Love the show, I have been amused.
When I was a kid we went to Knotts for my birthday, but I was (and still am) terrified of roller coasters, so we just rode the log ride ALL DAY? It has such a special place in my heart ❤
They had two scare actors in there when I rode it last spooky season.
PLEASE have Pugh Two on the podcast 😭😭🙏🏼🙏🏼
Byron's reaction at 36:36
I love how Ryan is just vibing in his getup and apple headphones
Heading to Alton Towers for the first time in August. Excited for Curse at Alton Manor and Nemesis Reborn!
One thing that is missing from the podcast is praise for the Halloween Hootenanny version's soundtrack (with the Calico Coffin Creepers!) and the feeling of cruising through that spiderweb tunnel. Also the bear yells "Trick or treat," which will never not be funny.
The befuddled old guy and the squirrel made me want to go on this, just to see them 🧡 The whole ride sounds really fun and atmospheric
Love this podcast. I am always excited, when there is a new episode. You should do one about Fire in the Hole at Silver Dollar City :)
Love the pod, I listen weekly. My only suggestion: take the price tag off the back of the clipboard lol
In Germany we also have Europa Park, which is a lot of fun to visit 😊 If you ever come to Germany you have to go there!
holy shit, watching the ride footage is unlocking so many core memories for me! the old guy in the red pajamas was always my favorite part 😊
Oh hell yea I love this ride 🔥 I was always so scared of splash mountain as a kid and this ride was even more scary when I went on because the animatronics were old and fucked up 🤣🤣😭. But it was like comically scary so I was freaking out but I was laughing.
We need Cosmic Rewind because that ride >>
I've used one of those two person saws. They are not easy to use lol
I feel like Byron's headphones get bigger and bigger every ep, lol😂
FYA, I mean I👀... This is the first ep that I didn't skip the ad lol.
I remember a day at Knotts when I was in high school where we went on the log ride, and he was tall enough that he could put his hand up and set off the height sensors inside the mountain and get the animatronics to yell "Sit down!" at us.
Fun times! I actually enjoy the episodes where it’s just Ryan and Byron. Guests can be fun, but the episodes get too long and we miss out on the true Ryan-Byron banter!
Living on the East Coast and never having been to Knott's, and therefore having no frame of reference, listening to Ryan talking about the lumberjack animatronics singing on the ride just has me picturing the animatronics singing The Lumberjack Song from Monty Python. Now I feel like I'll be disappointed when I finally get to Knott's and that's not what they're singing, lol.
If you're familiar with Dollywood or Silver Dollar City, the Calico Mine Ride and the Timber Mountain Log Ride are very similar to the feel of Fire in the Hole/Blazing Fury. In fact, Dollywood has Knott's vibes.
50:03 YOU TAKE THAT BACK
At first I thought this was about Dudley Do Right log ride in Universal Island of Adventures (Orlando), but was happy to see another Knott’s Farm ride. Though, I would love to see a Dudley Do Right review too. I am also looking forward to their review of Tiana’s version of Splash Mountain.
I do have a podcast request for next year, which is an in-person review of the new Universal Epic Universe park. I know there was an episode of the blueprints, which is exciting, but I am curious about the flow of the park (the good and the bad). Also, how the average tourist can plan a vacation for all three parks (since Epic Universe is separate from the other two). I’m planning a Universal trip and would love to hear expert opinions before I go. 😊
What happened to the audio at 14:40, sounds like a production cue snuck into the ad read?
I’m a little late to the party - do they go on the ride pretty recently before the podcast or is it all just from memory? I think the research is excellent and I love the rubric elements. 👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I haven't gone on or don't know many of the rides that get reviewed on FYA so color me surprised when I see the log ride from knott's on the title! I also went on this ride during an elementary school field trip as many LA county schools did and it was probably one of the first memories I have of going on a ride at all
Yes I was hoping you would do this ride ...now we need calico mine ride next
32:45 seeing tony hawk, unbothered on a thrill ride is hilarious 🤣🤣
46:23 oh my god someone please let Ryan know about the Other meaning of "cruising"
It was closed last years Boisenberry Festival also so might be a yearly referb time
love the pod, would love to go to Alton Towers someday, that unboxing should NOT have been part of the episode it was so boring. I'm sorry.
Native Floridian who wants to go to California so bad and Knotts might be above Uni & Disney on my to do list. Should I go during fall for Knotts Scary or during the boysenberry festival??
If you're from Florida, Universal Hollywood is going to be a big disappointment. The studio tour is amazing, but everything else is scaled down or not as good (as you've probably heard in the Mummy episode). Definitely go to Knott's for Scary Farm.
My favorite ride as a kid was the log ride at Michigan Adventure in Muskegon Michigan. Michigan Adventure's claim to fame was that they had a spider ride (which I also loved) but Michael Jackson bought it for neverland ranch. I hated him after that lol. But the log ride, that one was an absolute blast. Just scary enough, with the tick tick tick as you go up, but not so scary I wasn't riding it as a small child.
People did in fact ride the flumes back in the 1800s with makeshift boats, as dangerous as that may seem. So not far off!
Yeah, that’s why they throw “modern” in there.
And Knott’s had the first “modern” inversion on a coaster.
In both cases, by “modern”, they mean “won’t send you to the ER or the morgue”.
@@toddjones1480 alright settle down there buck-o
This ride feels like it has to find a bathroom mid way through
Wouldn't call it world class because it is admittedly a bit of a run down ride but its iconic and close to my heart.
New episode🙏🏻🙏🏻
i absolutely love this show. i live for it. if it dies a part of me would die
socal content bros saying ‘hootenanie’ in just such a way is very amusing.
Ryan loves a western theme? There's a pretty decent park in Ohio where a western land has two western coasters...and Boneville
2:05
The Park used to have one it is where Wicker Man their GCI wooden coaster is now
In it's last decade of operation the logs/boats were designed to look like Bath Tubs
I had some good memories on this as a kid. Still, it was worth it for Wicker Man
yay
Gotta go with Marinberry. Bergaraberry sounds like it would be shortened to boogerberry and that would just be unfortunate
I haven't watched yet but I'm sure they're gonna talk about how horrifying the animatronics are lol
I am going to identify myself as a hillbilly, Ohio is the place to be for Amusement Park Adventures!
Byron berry does sound good
Would love to see Tim Tracker & Nick thethemeparkdad on the pod!!
Let’s gooooooo
Food boysening
Here to check if the faucet ever malfunctioned and someone on this ride got dunked on like Ryan said
darn, you explained the clothing. i was thinking you were starting a new trend.
Not my story to tell -- but because the ride is dark and wet, my friend who was a former Scary Farm actor got a pretty badly injuryed on this ride about 5ish years ago. Which lines up with about when they were fading scare actors out of this ride. Scare actors on this ride was definitely a huge liability. They never returned to him his Hot Topic anime belt and won't re-hire him even though it was a genuine accident and just a bad location for actors. They were really unfair about it
If you ever go to Europe for theme parks, do not miss Europa park.
Marinberry sounds more delicious~
ACE Landmarks get taken down. Technically, Monte should be stripped of the status after the refurb.
you mean Europa Park?
