  • Take a trip down memory lane as we revisit iconic gaming scenes from "The Wizard!" We'll take a look at how the film depicts the retro games we all know and love, revealing and ranking just how accurate (or delightfully wrong!) they truly are. From the seemingly plausible to the downright outrageously false, we'll dissect and share our thoughts on this '80s cult classic.

    My dad was ripping NES games back in the day. Only guy I ever met that beat Ninja Gaiden.

    The fact that Jimmy went on to play the kid in Little Big League escaped me until i was today year's old.

    The movie also repeats the same old mistake of having people mash the buttons while playing games that don't require button mashing. Maybe all the games they really play are Track&Field.

      You and I are of similar age. This, and for some reason, Ferris Bueller's Day Off are the movies I can remember seeing in the theater most vividly from that time in my life.

    I have to disagree with the bit about jerking the controller around. I have a little brother that absolutely could not sit still playing NES. His ass would be jumping up and down nonstop and jerking that controller everywhere.

    This was my favorite movie when I was child and now that I'm 34yo I watched it with my 2 little nephews (both gamers) few days ago. It's a bit "cheesy" watching some scenes now, but I still love it and I'm grateful that my nephews loved it as I did when I was at their age.

    • @otggaming3180
      @otggaming3180  9 місяців тому +1

      I tried to watch it with my nephew a few years back and he lost interest about halfway through. So I'm glad you had that experience with your nephews. It makes it more enjoyable when you have others watching that can appreciate the cheese :)

    Some of the best gamers I know jerk and move the controllers around as they play. They really get into it. It has nothing to do with being a "real gamer" or not. That's just bad commentary on your part.

    You know, when it comes to the score tally in Super Mario Bros. 3 at the end of the film I always figured that it was some kind of arbitrary gameshow score where they awarded points for performance rather than basing it off of the in-game score counter, hence why finding the Warp Whistle gives the player points.
