Your suggestion makes so much sense - try before you buy, so to speak! I live in a flat with a dishwasher and a washing machine. For the past 9 months I have been handwashing items as I need them, I have never used the dishwasher and only have one light source in each room. I summer insulated my windows with some cheap, but very pretty, water-adhesive film and for the colder months I made some window insulation from very cheap padded, silver foil covered windscreen protectors for cars. Luckily I am on the attic floor so nobody can actually see what I am doing! All the best to you! 👍😊
@@themanofthewoods Thank you! I‘ve been working in Germany these past few years but am planning to return to the UK in the next few months with a van full of cats and a few belongings. Yep the more simplistic one can life, the easier it is to be off grid. If you ever get a chance, could you do a video on what it cost to live off grid in the UK. Covering things like shire rates, insurances, vehicle registrations, mobile phone and internet, cost of a bottle of LPG for the cooker and so on. So far I have gotten my cost of living down to around $300 a week to live off grid in Western Australia 😃🥂

im saving up for my own land but its so expensive, then i need more to build a cabin and fit it out etc. i want freedom from renting and utilities and supermarkets ripping everyone off etc and trapping us in it and to get away from antisocial neighbours and to be free to be creative doing free energy and gardening projects. enjoy your life in the woods away from it all, nearly everyone and everything outside of it is full of drama that isnt worth your time wasting brain effort on.
I couldn't agree more with you. Have you considered vanlife? That would free up money giving you more chance of saving for your dream. That is how i achieved my goal.
Hi Kevin, I've been following you for a while and love your videos. I'm on a barge and pushing to be as off grid as possible. I was debating applying for a local allotment and wondered how much of your annual veg you manage to grow?
Sounds great! This year not much due to my health issue. but last year i nearly managed to grow all i needed. I still learn and next year my plan is to grow everything i need and hopefully sell a little to pay for seeds etc.

Exactly that. It is only £2. Yet a bag of oats can make many meals etc etc. Frugal should be a trendy word eh!
