Great stuff, Alex! That Majestic radio is a Canadain model and, I believe, pretty rare. It was a higher end set from about 1938. A real beauty. A word of caution, don't plug it in even with a new power cord (or any vintage electronics, for that matter). There are components in the power supply that nearly always fail due to age and can short. This can damage other nearly non-obtainable components and render the radio practically worthless. If possible, locate a radio collector in your area who can inspect it and power it up slowly. It would be a shame to damage it.
Alex, Love your "Treasure Hunting". My wife, Suzan and I used to go to garage sales. W e looked for stuff to resell at our local Flea market. Some of those garage sales really were in garages or at homes, just like the ones you explore. Your finds are nostalgia for us. We still have a pile of early "Ladies Home Journals that we brought with us to Ferndale. Your fortunate to live in an area where people have homes for a long time...That's where the "goodies " are. Thanks, Rik
What a great haul! Their basement was so clean...all the items in good shape. So much fun! I like listening to you rattle off what’s what too, getting a good education.
Another neat video. I love when people let you into their homes to see what treasures they have collected. I just love things from the 50’s and 60’s. I was born in 51 so it brought back memories. Simpler times for sure. Or maybe it seems that way because I was a child😀. Maybe their were no simpler times just childhood memories. Thanks so much. It is always a pleasure to watch your channel. Merry Christmas to all of your family.
OMG I had that gas company doll - they gave them to kids to keep them away from the guy while working on the furnace!! LOL I want one!! Came from Union Gas here
General Motors bought Vauxhall in the UK back in 1925. The commercial motors division was called Bedford. Vauxhall was sold recently by GM along with Opel to the French company PSA- which owns Peugeot and Citroen.
Awesome video. I love old toys so this was right up my alley. What nice people lived there. Thanks for this great video. Christmas Blessings to you and your family!
a buddy had a penchant for Vauhalls Not a common car in Colorado, but he managed to find several, cheap. The 65 he had looked like somebody washed a 55 chevy wrong and it shrunk in the wash big time. the 67 was just like a 57 Chevy, but shrunken. Cool cars.
I AM A MAN, YOU CAN TELL ALL THE LADIES IN THE VIDEOS LOVE HIM. THE PERFECT GENTLEMAN, HANDSOME, INTELLIGENT, GREAT FATHER.... I AM SURPRISED HE DOESNT HAVE A NATIONAL SHOW OF SORTS.
First time I’ve heard you sing (relatively new subscriber) and you have a lovely voice. I think it is relatively rare that anyone actually really changes their lives. You seem to have done so and still remain a decent, kind family man and person. I hope all your and your families dreams come true. Jeanine from Australia
All kinds of interesting things in this video. I swear, I had stuff just like that that my parents saved but it probably got mostly tossed out in cleaning fits back in the 80s and 90s... :(
Hilary C - Families would often take items out of our estate sales when they saw what the appraised price of the item was. We had to revise our contract form informing the family that we would be entitled to the commission we would have received if the item sold at the estate sale. If the family takes back all of the antiques and items of value, we no longer have an estate sale. We have a rummage sale.
I'm sure you know, but just in case: ONe time I bought an old-ish magazine from the 1960s for a few dollars and inside was a Full ticket (unused I guess) from a World Series Game that was worth A LOT more than the vintage magazine. Check the pages for more treasure. LOVE your channel. Ha, you find a Cohen poster and then sing us a Cohen song in the celebration video...Nice tie in.
What a fun video! The white pieces that you refer to as print blocks are press proofs. Press proofs were made to check to make sure there weren’t any imperfections or typo’s (mistakes) in the printing block before it when to the final printing.
The only problem with this video, is that it was too short! Also, the cop car with the Avro Arrow was pretty cool. Thanks And wishing you and your family happy holidays!
I can't get over how fascinating I find it, to watch people unearth these goodies from the past. If ever there was a dream job...for me, that would be it. I'm curious how you come to be aware of these opportunities, to go into people's homes. Do you know them...or hear of them through friends, or friends of friends?
Those cardboard advertisements you have are what were known as flongs- " a temporary negative mould." I can remember seeing them when I was shown around the print room of Express Newspapers in Fleet Street, London in 1983 when I had the misfortune to work there. Hot metal printing was soon going to be swept away but even then, there was a huge factory under the newspaper offices. Here is the Wiki entry on flongs for you to read: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flong
Great video, What a basement that was, all that stuff, Glad you were able to get some good stuff, You ended up with the creepy gas doll then lol, That doll that talks sounded like something on a horror movie lol, Great job Alex.
Hey guys how’s everyone ,, you all ready for ho ho too come we’ll I wish the Best Christmas ever don’t worry about the new year she’ll bring luck and much happiness,,!! Sounds like a Beautiful thing be happy and grow .... Also buy good stuff ,lolol god night ...guys kids moms and pops Much love and joy!.
Im late watching....but omg i have thoze bubble frames with original picture of little girl praying...in black and white. I would change the picture or frame for anything.
The most dangerous moment as a picker is when you have the owner's shoulder-surfing while you look. Once they start reminiscing over every single thing that comes out of a box, you can add $200 to the price of the pile of stuff when it comes to negotiation,
As you're buying items, do you write it down with an agreed price so you now how much to pay them at the end?? I've done this on the last two "picks" that I've been on and it works well. I use to try to keep track in my head...too stressful!!
Curiosity Incorporated dang that’s too bad thanks for the reply. If you find anymore ford meteor ads or anything let me know I own multiple cars as well!
....then it wouldn't have been a kind gift...much nicer to accept the gift and give her the Thanks shout-out. Mmmm banana bread. I love that stuff. I think I'll make myself some in my bread machine.
you've actually sung a Lenard Cohen song I bet, his most famous is "Hallelujah" frankly, he couldn't sing it that well, but with such...um... I don't know what to call it, soul I guess.
geez i didnt know that haa pitcher well guess what i pitched and pitched and pitched i still pitch wierd huh theres pitching then theres pitching without hurting anyone especially you kids or neighbors kids whew now i just use a target as there all grown almost
9:15 That Rogers-Majestic console radio is beautiful, but I'm betting that a rotted out line cord is the least of its problems. I'd have an expert check it out first. A shorted capacitor in the high voltage circuit can really "fire" it up! :( Safety first. Wishing I had the bucks (and the room) for that beautiful Canadian-made radio! I think this is the same model: www.greenhillsgf.com/IndexOwn_RogersMajestic_7M931.htm If it is, it has a more elaborate "Magic Eye" tuning tube than is typical. What a great radio!
Whoa!!! At about 14:00 the car price list has something interesting on the bottom under ‘options’ ... directional signals ... 😳 ... turn signals were optional?!?!?
Older now and not as mobile as I once was, I love watching you pick through all sorts of places and seeing all sorts of bits and pieces of history.
Great stuff, Alex!

That was fun going thru her basement,as a fifties child I recognized lots of her things....
No to much into antiques because i grew up with them in the 40th to 60ty. But love your knowledge of them is so interesting. Love watching you

Man! Living the dream! Unboxing back at the shop having a cold coors... sigh... I’m living vicariously...
I'm a old car junkie so I loved the magazines! Thanks for taking us along on the ride.
The paper ephemera that isn’t collectible is still valuable to art journalists and journal makers. Book making is very popular now.
What a great haul! Their basement was so clean...all the items in good shape. So much fun! I like listening to you rattle off what’s what too, getting a good education.

Your comment "Maybe there were no simpler times, just childhood memories" has actually brought tears to my eyes. 😥
Those are some amazing treasures! You gotta appreciate the old things!
One man's trash is another man's treasure!
I always tell friend's & neighbors, don't throw away anything, call me first. hehe 🤓😉
OMG I had that gas company doll - they gave them to kids to keep them away from the guy while working on the furnace!! LOL I want one!! Came from Union Gas here
I would be in 7th heaven in that cellar, looking at all the stuff. This is my way of relaxing😀
Wow, that looked like fun! And they were willing to part with some stuff, that always helps on a pick :)
YOUR VIDEOS BRING JOY BACK INTO MY LIFE! THANK YOU

I've always been impressed when I've visited Canada on holiday. Canadian people are so lovely and friendly.
I'm just outside Edmonton I'll have to stop by...great to see a local couple on UA-cam...great work
Come by anytime! :)
You made another great haul Alex. I'd never be able to do what you do. I'd want to buy and keep everything...lol.

I hope she invites you back, looks like there's a ton more treasure in that basement!
Excellent video ! Congrats on all your finds and good luck on your next hunting adventure !
Sending love from Staffordshire England im watching all youre videos such an amazing family 👪
That was fun! I would have loved to go through all those boxes. Of course I would have had to stay there for a week to do it. Thanks for the tour!
Glad you liked the show!
Me too, but I'd feel quite awkward with the owners standing over me. I'd be ready for them to grab a find and announce, 'oh, we'll keep that!"

I see a Christmas tree behind you. Is that home or the shop. I love Christmas decorations. This was another terrific video.
Another great video love them all.

Loved this video with the super items and 2 really lovely ladies !

Great lot of stuff, most of which would never have survived here in humid Houston, Texas.
That was fun Alex. To you and your family have very Merry Christmas. Thank you for all the wonderful videos.
Merry Christmas to you too :)
You had me in stitches laughing, love watching your videos!!!

The papier-mâché movie advertising molds are known as *flongs* , and are used to cast metal stereotypes for newspaper printing.
Wonderful watching!
Merry Christmas to you and yours! Love your finds.
You are living my dream life... Love your channel!
Who hee. Would love to pick that area. Fun video!
Wish I had a basement. I have a loft so most of my stuff ends up in there. Anyways you guys have a wonderful Christmas day.
The only problem with this video, is that it was too short! Also, the cop car with the Avro Arrow was pretty cool. Thanks And wishing you and your family happy holidays!
That cop car looks like what we call a ford falcon here in the usa

Loooove the bubble glass frames!!!
Was there an original portraits in the bubble frames?
lol when air conditioning and heat with defroster was optional lol
Nice. Paper items are fun. If the price is right, I will buy junk drawer contents at consignment auctions in the country.

I really liked the Farrah shirt. I had one of Charlie's Angels.
One of my college room-mates had that FF poster on the bathroom wall.
Kinda creepy when I think about it now
That was my 1st car in Australia, called a falcon there.
Apple boxes are good for putting wool in
Merry Christmas, Alex and family!

Gah! I just saw my old Tearie Dearie doll in the box of dolls. 😱
They probably still make the bouncy horse, I bought one for my son born in 91.
How old is that Coors Light bottle sitting on the showcase? It looks like it's got some beer inside it still! HAHA! Great finds!
The bottle has a die cast nascar inside of it

Yes a bunch of them :)

you guys are extremely unique :)
Whoa!!! At about 14:00 the car price list has something interesting on the bottom under ‘options’ ... directional signals ... 😳 ... turn signals were optional?!?!?
I'm not sure today's BMW's have turn signals standard judging by how many owners don't use them.
Makes sense--people used hand signals out the window at first.
Niiice!!!👍👍
You have a nice laugh. LoL
👍🏻
I saw something that said "follow the indians". I believe that's the Spokane Indians baseball team.
Can I please buy the tshirt????
It was cool! But it sold today for $20
