Awwwww. I am 73 and lived in SLP in the 60's and 70's. You showed the exact apartment my family lived in (across from Aquila School).....8300 W. 31st, including our garage, which was on the end. We were on 2nd floor, middle of the building. My heart just broke open with a thousand memories. This is a great area to live, for sure. My dad, Mousey Ostrowsky, owned a place across the street, at 2524 Flag. I went on to own a house, 9219 Cedar Lake Road. Loved this place, too. I bought it for $68,000 back in the day. Who is to say why life takes us on our journeys. For now, Aloha from Hilo, Hawaii. I would be living back there now, if I could! Really, you can't go wrong living in this neighborhood.
I grew up in SLP in the 80s and 90s on the lower west corner of the city by Knollwood Mall. In fact, I went to Aquila Elementary (your filming location) for grades K-2. It's funny, the Texa-Tonka shopping area used to be kind of a dead end afterthought place to shop in the 2000s, but it seems they got several enticing businesses to liven it up. Even though I now own land in rural MN and live a completely different lifestyle than everyone living in the suburbs, I still consider SLP home and when I need to go into the cities, I always make visiting SLP a priority.
That’s awesome! I definitely love Saint Louis park for a lot of the reasons we highlighted in the video! Lots a food spots and proximity to everything! Lived off of France when I was a kid for a while. Yeah the texa-tonka area seems to be pretty happening now! How far out are you now days?
