I did a blind GTS vs Stagg store pick and the store pick won hands down. Perhaps a thought for a future video for you.

I’ve seen GTS and Thomas H Handy only once. They also had the WL Weller, all were priced over $1,500. They were all still there when I left. I have acquired 3 Stagg, batch 18 for $150 and 22A & B for $200 each. I feel they were high, but difficult for me to find, so I bought them.

I haven’t tried the Handy or EH Taylor Barrel Proof, yet.
FWIW, I’ve only felt the WLR was worth paying over MSRP.
I don’t like the GTS bottle from this year. It was complex and didn’t quite open up for me, but am relieved to have gotten it at MSRP.
It would take a blind of Weller 12 and Lot B for someone to decide if Lot B was worth the extra money.

The problem with the GTS is you cant find under 1k.

they are all worth more than msrp. I will always be a buyer at, gts under 500, eht BP under 250 , stagg under 150, handy under 250, lot b under 500

Stagg is so worth it at up to 150. Rip did not impress me. Thomas Handy is amazing easily worth 500. George T stagg this year wasnt worth more then MSRP. W. L. Weller was great this year and worth 500. Last Eagle 17 was amazing and would be worth 800 easily. Still not had EH Taylor Barrel Proof but SiB hasnt impressed me at all so I keep skipping it when I find it.

I sampled 2 or 3 different bottle years of 12yr. Wasn't a big fan.

Not worth secondary and I think most people who do are either suffering from FOMO or lack experience. I’ll pay 10-50% over MSRP for unicorns but it really comes down to the bottle. I won’t pay more than 10% over for Sazerac bottles other than BTAC or Pappy and those I limit to 50% - that’s mostly because even in raffles I’d have to pay a little over SRP lately.
Most unicorns have been over oaked and failed miserably in blinds against my best store picks… I’ve enjoyed WLW, GTS, and Pappy 15… the rest often fall even for MSRP. Birthday bourbon might be the biggest loser.
Stagg Jr drinks like a $60 bottle. I’ve had countless store picks that are older and more flavorful for the same price as stagg

2024 is the year I boycott Sazarac. Mostly because I don’t want to wait in lines when decent whiskey is on the shelves every day. Never hunting a BT product again.
