In this video I have shown you the easy way to replace your broken or turnout i20 CAR key case with a new case.

I think this is a great video, well explained, only detail is that the small piece you called an antenna is actually a transponder and way more important than the electronic board itself... why? The electronic board job is to lock/unlock doors and to arm/disarm alarm if equipped, the transponder is what “talks” to the immobilizer system to ensure that the right key is inserted into the ignition, without that piece the car wont start even if the metal key blade is cut correctly... the doors can normally be unlocked using the key blade too so it “overrides” the use of the remote, but the transponder cannot be bypassed.. just sharing. I'm having this problem atm. I've changed everything and the doors can be opened from the remote and battery but I can not get the engine to start.
We’ve just found this out when we can he’s ours over, the car wouldn’t start! 😡🤦🏻♂️
Interesting, any idea how the transponder powered seen as it does not seem to be connected to the main board?

Your video saved me a lot of money. I had already replaced the fob before watching your video. And when i tried starting my car it wasnt. After watching your video realised that the small black plastic item was also part of the antenna. Reopened, put in back the plastic item and magic; the car started. This video saved me with car towing to the service center. Thank you.

Thank you very much for this instructional video! It is very clear and concise and shows exactly how to do the project. We were having trouble with the spring and did not know the blade had to be rotated twice. These things never come with instructions :)

My fob was glued together, and very difficult to open. Also, the antenna was glued in quite firmly, and I had to cut away most of the case around the antenna before eventually prying it loose. All good in the end however, so I'm grateful for the video.

My c2010 key fob (same design) was glued together and very difficult to open - had to use a small flat head screw driver to separate the case all the way around the fob before it would open.

I have competed all steps for the old key, but the antenna is stuck. I think it's glued there inside. There is no enough grip to remove it. I tried to break open the lower side of the plastic. Please suggest me a way to loosen the glue.

Amol Kokane I also have the same issue. It is risky to remove the sensor as it might spoil it.
I used a xacto knife to pry it out
This saved me. I thought the white clip was the chip antenna. I did not see the chip underneath

The small black plastic piece is not an antenna..... It's a transponder chip. Without it, your car won't start at all.

Mine is 2009 model similar flip key. Recently I opened & found that the transmitter is missing. How do i replace the transmitter? I think it was probably misplaced about 6 months ago, when i gave for servicing, since then i was facing difficulty to make the remote work. When i asked the workshop they said battery needs to be replaced. Now i dont know what to do? The works manager said pls replace the outer shell which will cost 1600/- & redirected me to some automotive keysmith. I felt it was exaggerated figure for outershell & I wanted to buy online & after seeing this vdo opened and am shocked to see the transmitter missing. How do I replace the transmitter? Is it even possible? No wonder the remote key wasnt working & its my mistake for sitting over it believing battery replacement would've solved.

You don't get chips or antina outside, you need to buy whole new key in that case. You can 1st try with replacing the case and of ot dosen't work get new key.

I have watch so many of these key case replacement videos and I have yet to see anyone of them follow static prevention procedures. Anyone who work within the electronics field know that modern day electronics understand that static electricity is your biggest enemy which can cause serious damage to most electronic components. Simply touching circuit boards without taking precautions can and often will, badly damage the ICs. i.e. remote car keys....
