On my coil rear np300 I've fitted full air so have made lightweight fixed length stands with adjustable feet that simply slide and bolt in as an extra precaution it's super stable as the legs don't move around in there mounts.
As always, a great video. Given Jack Off (yeah I’m giggling too!) campers are meant to be used as a Basecamp, great to see it actually done. Especially on sand. Hard to get a less stable base. 👍👍 from me!
Wow, I was literally just thinking about this kind of versatility the other day and wondering if anyone had put it to the test, and you uploaded the exact thing a day later! I think this is a fantastic idea that should be a standard feature. Lowering the legs down a bit would go a long way in making the setup more stable/reliable. Would you do it all the time? Probably not. Would you wish you could? Definitely likely.
Another bonus is the actual structure of a jack off canopy is way stronger due to all the extra bracing. Stops all the flex and stress facturing in the corners of the door openings.
Well done on all the videos. So the question I have is. Now that you’ve had a couple of lift off canopies, and you don’t really lift this one off. Would you consider next time getting a chassis mount canopy set up ? Might be a good video idea to test. I checked out MRT chassis mounts. They look good 👍 keep up the good work
Have you ever considered using an impact wrench to lift the legs? Also as you mentioned straps between the legs would stabilise is more but also 4 straps to large tent pegs in the ground could be used to further stabilise the setup in the event of longer camping stays.
Keep in mind, a regular batt drill would be more appropriate than an impact wrench as the impact wrench puts a lot of forces through the screw components in the leg. especially once the leg is supporting weight 👍
I wanted to ask u while at the show but didn’t get time to stop and chat but 2 questions about your set up. 1. How does the RTT go with condensation 2. How is the iTech battery going
How low will the legs let it go down? If you drop the height to half a meter off the ground, I think it will be quite stable and very usable. (You may have to stoop though, but Bianca will love it).
That's a great idea. Like you said, being able to leave your camp set up while you're exploring the local area is better. I've set up a small trailer that weighs about as much as your loaded canopy for trips with a longer stay planned (eg Francois Peron or Shelter Bay). Well played Daniel but no front bar jokes from me! 😉 PS How does your car go (on the beach and tracks) with no weight on the back?
10 year old me giggled for a full minute on seeing the title here :) :) . Impressive canopy though!

Also way easier to store and like half the weight
Can use put up some pictures
Great vid
A couple of tension wires on a diagonal from front to back and that would be immovable 👍
Like you said, could always drop the level right down to a lower height and then just wind it back up when putting it back on the ute.
Well done brother ,really well presented 🙂
Awesome work mate, really keen on one of those tray and canopy setups, might just happen next year!
