As a loft employee I can tell you that the company has hired a different buyer in the last year and the quality of the clothes are not nearly as good as they once were which is why I think it hasn’t been selling as well anymore.
I just now left the Goodwill and I found (and brought home) about 12 pairs of LOFT capris all NWTs. Only a dollar each so I had to get them. I'm on Posh and Ebay so 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 they will sell for me. The tags range from $49 to $89 so $20 maybe???
abbycadabby55 I’ve definitely noticed a decrease in quality over the last few years. Which is a shame because it used to be a great go-to place for long-lasting clothes.
Unfortunately, this is a sign of where reselling in fashion is headed if you're not doing an incredible amount of research for both resell and boutique items. Great video with valid and relevant points.
I sell mostly Lilly. Get familiar with the "holy grail" prints. I found a pair of Dark N Stormy shorts for $40 and bought right away (for myself and maybe resale). That's definitely more than I'd usually pay but that print sells for at least $200. I've seen the dress sell for $800 on eBay. If the tag says "originals", buy it. Those sell fast for $50+. Fourth of July prints will also sell for a ridiculous amount especially in May and June. If it's a pink rose (First Impression) pick it up.
I'm new to Poshmark..Been watching videos for days and been disappointed. You are the first person/video I stayed tuned the whole time, took notes, subscribed and you are probably the reason I am going to stick with Poshmark after a rough couple weeks. Thanks girl! Keep it up!
I am finding the whole brands sales a closet by closet thing. Everyone sells differently and for prices all over the place. And buyers are expecting deals and can easily find closets selling good brands for under 10 dollars! If you are doing this full time it's very difficult to guess what will sell until you get a following or focus on trendy searchable items. I'm focusing my closet now on color, florals, tropical etc. to brand my own style because that is what I like and trying to not focus on what everyone else says sells. I've bought way too much that sits in the short time I've been reselling full time as my job. It can be very discouraging.
I can relate to almost all of the brands you’ve mentioned. It’s crazy how fast the market changes. I’ve learned that if I don’t make a great effort to do my research and stay current, I fall behind and my sales suffer.
Oh, LuLaRoe! We had a good run with reselling it for awhile, at least! I bought out a consultant a few months before they started tanking; in the end, I was left with all of the skirts. The consignment store I take duds too has been slammed with consultants dumping their unsold pieces.
This is so on point! I think when brands do label changes (i.e. Joie, Alice + Olivia), it's time to stop shopping the old labels...but it's SOOOO hard LOL
The thrift stores in my area are starting to get over-saturated with Lularoe...The last few months I have gotten some really cute tops even a few nwt for next to nothing...Not to re-sell but for my own personal closet lol...So no need to pay high prices for it on Ebay or Poshmark when you can just head down to your nearby goodwill and get a whole bag of it for next to nothing!:)
I actually recently tried on a pair of Hudson jeans at TJ Maxx so they were the new style (no flap pockets) with a raw hem and I swear they are the best jeans I have ever worn! They are this very high quality soft, stretchy material and make your booty look fantastic. I've already bought two more pairs secondhand. I feel like if people tried them on they'd be sold!
Lucky brand is really weird because the moment that I list something by Lucky it gets a lot of likes...so people are clearly searching for the brand, but it just keeps getting likes and sits there. I have yet to see anything lucky sell but each has been sitting there for 3+ months with each one having over 26 likes.
Ugh well I just left the GW with a vintage pair of luckys thought they would be ok being the "lucky you" in the zipper n high rise and a Boho type dress. I've heard the boho stuff does the best Wish me luck, hopefully not headed for the death pile )
Ok so I agree about LOFT but I just left $1 day at GoodWill and there was about 12 capris NWT I just could not leave behind. They range from $49 to $89 all size 6 and some (as we resellers love) duplicates. black/white/khaki all capris man I hope I sell e for spring ! Ps. Also found a Burberry London pair so that was cool !
Have you tried consigning the brands/pieces that you can't move in your shop? I work at an upscale resale boutique and I find it really interesting that we sell some of the brands you mentioned really well. I think because those customers don't know about Posh or aren't interested in shopping online. Its been a great way for me to sell pieces that don't move online. Michael kors, rebecca taylor, and Donald Pliner are definitely ones worth consigning :)
Hannah Christina Yes I own my own brick and mroter store, and I sell these brands so well. I was six figure seller for four years, and posh isn’t the place to make the money ,unless you have a serous following, right now. But like Alice and Olivia and Rebecca Taylor, yes. It’s partly because people who love those brands don’t want to buy from people who paid a dollar for them,
I’ve stopped picking up most of those brands too. Once a brand hits Marshall’s I think the value goes way down. Paige, Hudson, North Face, Free People.. there’s just too much out there!
Will you consider doing a video on your own personal outfits? Like an outfit of the week or something? I love your style (what we see of the tops you wear) and we’d love to see more of your personal style! Thanks!
Agree and still shocked a bit myself by Donald Pliner... Men's does great, not as much the women's shoes any longer agree. I have had luck selling some of my own, but don't source it unless it's a men's shoe and that is RARE! I personally LOVE HUDSON and don't wear a lot of other denim other than Hudson as it's so soft, has a decent stretch, fabric has a nice bounce back from bending/kneeling... and it's been my go to for along time. I've not sold it though for a while. Have a pair I'm about to list in a few weeks in a faded peach tone crop that might do well for Spring break/Spring?? Thank you for the video.. I sell on Ebay not Posh as I work PT as a nurse and can't commit the time to Posh that is needed so it all goes to Ebay :( Again, thanks and a new sub even though you are Posh!
Hi, I enjoy your videos as they are fun and straight to the point. You have good style, Will you do home decor videos and outfit of the day hauls in the future?
Loft / Ann Taylor has really big end of season sales on their website (not sure how often a year though) but some $90 dresses go for $15. I don’t pick it up because of that except for pieces with unique prints.
I agree with you! Anything that has a factory or outlet store I try to pass on. Unless it's NWT at the bins. I noticed a lot of MK, Coach, Kate Spade, etc people buy for super cheap and resell. Currently waiting patiently waiting for my items from your list to sell :/
Ok, so I'm new to Poshmark. Really just wanting to clean out my closet. When I listen to all of these brands that full time Poshers are not picking up because they don't sell, I am someone who doesn't have ANY of the brands that they say do sell, and much of my real closet, at home is full of many brands that people say don't sell. But everyone says, just start out selling what you already have in your own closet at home, cut if they are not selling on Posh or ebay, what are you to do?
Just spam shared your closet. Literally every brand you said I second!! Iam giving the pieces I have now hang around for a little while longer but I will no longer pick up new items!! Great Video!
Have to agree about Joie, Rebecca Taylor, and Vince Camuto. Joie and Rebecca Taylor in particular baffle me because they're so cute but not too trendy so you can wear them forever, worn by celebrities (especially RT), and such high quality. But I guess you have to know these brands to seek them out and they aren't exactly in every mall in America.
I found 3 Alice & Olivia dresses one with tags at the bins & I couldn’t give them away!! They sat for months until I dropped my prices to dirt cheap since I was so sick of looking at them lol! Thankfully they were bin finds & I paid nothing but still no longer picking up.
Thank you for all the awesome content. I love your videos. This may be creepy, but I think of you whenever we go thrifting. I ask.."would The Deal Queen thrift this?".
First time viewing your channel. I'm also a reseller on ebay and haven't tried Poshmark yet. I don't know if you have a say in it, but you had more commercials in your video than any other I've seen.
You can turn the commercials off or get a app that blocks them like I have. I don't mind watching one or two but when there is a bunch like eight in a ten minute video I completely stop watching but now I have a commercial blocker 😁

Also, agree on Lilly and I can't resist it--but I have to make myself. I have some girls pants up right now--with an elephant on the pocket--they are the cutest pants ever--and no one wants my pants. I also have some really cute short up--no one seems interested.

Great list, so true though. I'm so over hearing Anthro and Free People, it'll probably be one of those brands one day that will become super saturated and no one would pick it up anymore.
I can’t seem to sell 7FAM Either. I have one Rebecca Taylor NWT silk jumpsuit. Hardly any interest. Lilly P I cannot stand anything by this designer. I don’t understand the brouhaha from this brand. Her prints are horrible. JMO. Joie same goes like you. Now Vince Camuto I can sell easily. He is my favorite designer for shoes at the moment. Shoes not the clothes. J Crew can’t give away same as Lulaoe COH, As a matter of fact I have a hard time selling jeans and they are my favorite item to sell. I can’t find a special brand that works for me yet. 😕
