    Great job! I did two of them. The first one really went south on me. Whatever you do, don't apply compressed air or anything else to make it cool faster! Let it cool down on it's own. My first attempt split right down the crease when I took the shop air to it. PING! Thanks for the upload. Instant Like!

      Held up for years and thousands of miles. It's still on there to this day

    Nice work you did there! Thinking about doing one myself too. Is 2 mm thickness good enough?

      That's a good question. If you give to the correct shape it may work fine. Mine is as thick as the original stock shield

    So school wasn't a compete waste of time.

    Looks good. This vid reminds me of the first time I made a windscreen. A friend told me to put the plexi in the oven for a few min to heat soak the whole thing and be able to mold it faster. All that did was ruin a piece of plexi and smell horrible. I didn't melt it off the rack but it put lines from the rack evenly spaced across the windscreen. So it became a prototype.

      Thank you. Get a good cardboard fit first. Any kinks in the cardboard design are magnified in the final product. Happy making time motorcycle brother

    Great job bro, I’m about to do one of these for my DR 650. What blade did you use in the table saw. I know I can do my cleanest cuts with the tablesaw, so that’s probably what I’m going to use

      The DR650 is a great bike! I've ridden one extensively in CO/UT.
      I used just a regular wood cutting blade, I just cut slowly.

    Very good idea I like it. Did you ever think of using Lexan it does not brake like plexi glass for safety it cost more but hate to see you get cut.

      The second one I made I used the cowl bolts I pointed out and the vibration went way down. It's pretty darn secure. That's the one in the thumbnail.

    lol High school shop classes. Come on, schools don't have those anymore. All those tools are "dangerous".
    Thanks for the video though. I've been wanting to make a better windscreen for my bike. Looks like it's pretty simple and I should just get off my duff and make it.

      Tell me about it, I teach middle School and tried to get the powers that be let me do a simple woodshop class and no too dangerous. So sad.

    If the plastic is small enough to fit , you can place it in your oven & heat the whole sheet & mold it into any shape you WANT

      Cool plan. I'm 5' 10". There is some buffeting at highway speeds. If you go taller that should help. I've thought of putting some small holes to fix it or reshaping the lower sides more narrow​ like the BMWs are

      kedi Tetso I used Plexiglass, a cutting wheel, but any saw will do and a heat gun to bend the Plexiglass. I used cardboard for the template.

    Good job on the dyi. I just wish your instructions were front and center instead of the music. I was drawn to your vid to hear what you experienced in the process of fabrication.
    It would've been nice if you were as loud and clear as the music and the music was not there at all. The extra noise was unnecessary. Having said that, you put yourself out there and tried to help your fellow riders. For that, I say thanks.

      Ride AMAP hang in stop being so defensive, your video was good the music is fine but was hard to understand you with the volume/level of it, if it was more back ground music and at a different slightly lower volume it would be easier to hear you talking that’s all.
      In fact a few people said the same thing.... something to consider to help make your videos even better ..... that’s all!

      I've had two factory windshield break and be able to cut anyone in my 30 years of riding. So apparently plexiglass is the norm.
      Never heard of lexan. Sounds cool

      @@RideAMAP you can lay lexan on a concrete floor and hit it with a hammer and it won't break it's a little more expensive than plexiglass but you don't have to worry about it breaking.... they use it in race cars .... when it gets up to 200 to 250 degrees you can mold it a whole lot easier than plexiglass ....I put it in the oven and shaped it into windshields ...
