    33:01 No, Stockfish cannot offer a draw or resign (The UCI protocol that it uses for communication has no procedure to offer or accept a draw). Any "offering a draw" or "resignation" functionality is provided by the gui, and is more accurately titled as "draw adjudication" or "win adjudication" (which decide the result of a game if the score output by the engines agrees with the result for a certain number of moves).

    I would only allow deployment on your first 3 ranks. Having a small buffer zone seems good for balance. White can immediately take advantage if there's a skirmish on turn 1, so that would make it too risky for black to place their pieces on the 4th, so it ends up as a space advantage for white from the get go.

    Loved this and looking forward to the sequel. Two questions: (1) Is deployment 100 percent unrestricted, i.e., could one side's deployment have two white-square or two dark-square bishops? And (2) Not that I expect people to deploy this way, but what happens if one or both kings is in check before moves even begin?

    • @ASMRChess

    My expectations:
    Winner: Addison or Asmrchess, maybe a surprise comeback from Mayaxmaya as they are the most flexible openings. Like the Karpov of openings, maybe the wins aren't as flashy, but losses barely happen.
    I expect starting position to lose because all other deployments are based on opening principles where space is already established, pieces developed and the centre controlled. So the starting position will have the disadvantage. No matter how clumsy or one sided the development is at least there is development.

    • @ASMRChess
      @ASMRChess  4 місяці тому +1

      I’m certain you are right at least about the standard position. I just don’t see that even drawing any games. I’m extremely curious to see what Dr. Blueberry’s deployment can do since it is so extremely risky and ambitious. I’m also very interested to see what Night’s deployment will do since it so extremely off-beat that it is very hard to predict!

    Always a good day when you drop a new video!
    While I’m not sure if it would truly work with the game as we know it, I like the idea of an added strategic component to chess in the form of choosing how your pieces are set up. George R. R. Martin makes this a feature of the equivalent of chess in his world, cyvasse. Cyvasse players set up their “armies” behind concealing screens and then pull away the screens to start the game.
