      Hi there. If you mean the FRCPC Anesthesiology exam, then there is a list of standard texts on the website. The exam will be based on specific editions of Millers, for example, and Barash and Cotte, paediatrics. It’s there on the website. Know these well. However, in my opinion, in reality you must also have sponsorship from a local academicdepartment of anesthesia in Canada. Departments have access to specific exam related resources without which it is very difficult, I would say impossible, to pass the exam. That’s the way it seems from here.

    Hi Dr Rajeev, I am in a bit of an unusual situation. I finished MBBS and then soon started a job in ICU. I spent about 5 years in ICU and then gave MRCP(UK) and moved to UK as a fellow. Here I am going to finish 2 years in ICU and then exploring the option of moving to Canada as I have good family support there. However, given that I do not have any formal residency training and it's all by not-training experience, which option would you suggest?

    I'm a diagnostic radiologist who graduated in Iran with 4 years of work experience as an assistant professor in Iran.

      For ortho, it is not easy. Not impossible but very difficult. Good idea for both you and your husband will be look into clinical fellowships in Canada. Once you break this barrier, this will open your options and your CV will get competitive for either a Province Based Specialist or if that doesn't work out to repeat residency.

    • @AnesthesiaGuru
      @AnesthesiaGuru  Рік тому

      I assume your Internal Medicine and Cardiology is from Germany? There are potentially three options I can think of for you. Every option has pros and cons.
      1. Royal College Pathway - You cannot enter as a Cardiologist but can as Internal Medicine if you satisfy the requirements. Check the requirements on this webpage on the Royal College website www.royalcollege.ca/rcsite/ibd-search-e?N=10000033+10000034+4294967122&label=Internal%20Medicine
      2. Enter Canada as a Cardiology Fellow and then potentially explore Province based specialist pathway where you can potentially find a job and then directly become a specialist (This is based on many factors as i have explained in the video)
      3. Enter Canada as a Cardiology Fellow and then if the above second option does not go through then apply for residency which you can do in Canada or USA and ultimately settle in either places

    • @AnesthesiaGuru

      Based on your training from Bangladesh you will not be eligible for Royal College pathway. The Royal College pathway favors IMGs trained form high income country. The best bet is to get into Canada as a clinical fellow & explore province based pathway (if your CV is amazing) or be prepared to repeat residency

      Here are the options I can think of for your situation
      1. Royal College Practice Eligibility Route. Here is the link to the Royal College website that you can check for your specific situation www.royalcollege.ca/rcsite/ibd-search-e?N=10000033+10000034+4294967037&label=Anesthesiology
      2. If the first doesn't work out, the second option is to move to Canada as a Clinical Fellow and try the Province based specialist pathway.
      The first option will get you Royal College certification and the second will not. However, either will open your way to becoming an anesthesiologist who can practice in Canada assuming you get through the competition and complete all the requisite requirements.

      The process begins with securing a job offer, that will allow you to obtain Permanent Residency (PR). You'll need to fulfill all the necessary requirements and proceed to apply for a matching opportunity. If you are wondering how to obtain a job then check this video out ua-cam.com/video/PeC6wYFz7Zg/v-deo.html

She also passed MRCPCH & waiting for English test for GMC registration. We moved to KSA 4 years ago & she is head of pediatrics ER in one of the top 10 hospitals there. She also has endocrinology as a sub specialty i pediatrics with 16 years pediatrics experience & 12 years endocrinology. What is your advice for the best pathway she takes?

      2. You are eligible for fellowship after you complete your residency in India or elsewhere.

      Dr. Shashi, you have two options ahead. The first is to pursue a clinical fellowship, allowing you to explore province-based pathways. The second option, which you are currently pursuing, involves writing the MCC and NAC exams, obtaining permanent residency, and applying for residency positions.

    Thank you for the informative video. If someone come for clinical fellowship in TGH, can he practice under provincial category?
    Pls explain what is 0.5 FTE in clinical fellowship
    And
    Is it possible to do part time jobs in the university during fellowship period?

    • @AnesthesiaGuru
      @AnesthesiaGuru  Рік тому +1

      Congratulations on your fellowship at TGH. Now you are starting a clinical fellow. This is a great start. If any hospital offers you a job after your fellowship of a year to few years, then this can be a potential province based pathway.
      0.5 FTE means you will work as a clinical fellow 50% of days in a year. Typically this will be 2-3 days a week. The other days will be assigned based on your contract.
      The ability to do a part time job will depend on your status in Canada. If you are a Canadian Citizen then potentially possible assuming your contract lets you do so. If you are on a visa, then not possible.

      There are two options. 1. Enter as a fellow & get a PR with exploring future options (this is better in my opinion) 2. Enter as a PR and apply for residency (not so great in my opinion).

    • @AnesthesiaGuru

      With training and work from Pakistan alone, it will be very difficult to crack the Royal College pathway. For your situation, a better option may be to enter Canada as a Clinical Fellow. Then you can explore the Province based specialist pathway or potentially the USA options. My suggestion is to start with Hospital for sick Children in Toronto with your fellowship application and move to other children's hospitals across Canada. I have seen so many IMGs in Sick Children during my fellowship and also otherwise.
