A lot of the younger fighters in Khabib’s camp (Umar’s age and younger) are predominantly strikers. The current head coach in Nurmagomedov School is muay thai based, and their striking coach is TKD based - you can be sure we’ll be seeing more and more well rounded fighters from that team in the future.
As long as their wrestling is close to Khabibs they'll be unstoppable.
Father’s plan was to build the best team of fighters. Now Khabib has to carry that legacy for his dad and all of us. They brought me back into the sport.

Umar and Usman started with Muay Thai when they were kids and then started wrestling that’s why there striking is so much better than the previous generation of Khabib and Islam who started with wrestling and then learned striking for Sambo and MMA

You were 100% right about Usman vs Sandhagen!! SUPER technical and Cory is a wicked striker
Umar circles the "wrong" way in southpaw because that lines up his push-kick with his opponent. He's not setting up his left-hand straight from that stance, which is what fighters normally try to do. Cory's transitions from offense to defense will be the key, I think. Umar is a more dynamic striker, but Cory excels at executing the basics really well.

It's crazy that Umar had enough power in that check hook to know him out. His knee was still up. I can't say I've even seen that before. Those type of check hooks or slaps or even backhanded slaps are more often a way to score a point or mostly to blind the opponent and keep them from taking advantage of that open position. I personally never seen this before, but I can't say I've seen all the fights. I wish some one with some knowledge would comment on this.

I like that he stopped after the only hammer fist. He knew the guy was out and was checking on him. A gentle soul and a warrior no doubt about that. He's got the touch of death, he switches stances to suit his attacks, and he knows when to counter. Sandman is gonna have his hands full with Umar. If one of them gets caught it would be an upset.

Although he's also prominent at wrestling, Umar and Usman take a way different path than khabib and islam. They are mainly a Muay Thai/kick box practitioners. Am very stocked with his vs Cory finally happening, both fighters are great

The dagestanis are being trained in standup by Javier Mendez. Khabib first hooked up with him at AKA and brought him all the rest. You can see a progression from khabib's striking which was crude, then islam is more refined and now umar and usman are even better. This has to do with how long and from how young they started with Mendez who deserves credit along with father nurmagomedov
Umar learned Sanda and Muay Thai before he became a MMA fighter... The grappling came later
Umar and Usman are different because out of the Dagstani guys striking is their background then they added wresting. Standing is their comfort zone. Islam and Khabib have the wrestling background so that’s their comfort zone and they slowly implement striking.

He is a south paw... he can only push not snap with his right. Don't forget, wrestlers keep their dominate foot forward and strikers keep their foot back... That's why they have to switch. I think its a good thing and will grow from here creating duel side dominate fighters. Anyone know who is teaching striking in that camp?
If I recall correctly, him and his bro usman didn’t grow up with pure wrestling and sambo like khabib and Islam. They did a lot of Muay Thai as kids and different camps, so it makes sense why their striking is better and might not have the same grappling skills as Islam/khabib.
