I love the delegation tip. I'm a nursing assistant (and nursing student) and feel so bad when I can't do everything a nurse asks me to. I'm getting better about it, but like you said it's something that will come with time, which escapes us all.
I love the form my preceptor allowed me to adopt.. its broken down by patient and by hour. I can see the gaps where I have opportunities to chart a couple extra things, pee, eat lunch, etc. also, it makes me force myself to write down my goals and helps me prioritize- which I'm still learning since I've only been an RN for about 5 months
I love this New Nurse Bootcamp series! Also I bet you hear it all the time but your son is adorable! You touched on evaluating your assistance in this video... honestly that's one of the things I'm most scared of when I start my new job in July! Would you be able to do a video or include evaluating and delegating in one of your near-future videos? Thanks!
You're awesome. Thank you for being you! I have watched many of your videos. I''m a GN orienting right now, and have run into different problems already (from being passed between about 5 or 6 preceptors, a couple I couldn't ask questions about rationale without them being irritated, running amuck like a gopher and CNA, more than training to be an actual nurse on the floor- because 3 of my preceptors were chatting and away from me while I did things, not having enough time to learn the charting system because I'm running)... BUT the toughest thing was after I confronted issues with the preceptors, then management, I became the problem. I know I need to manage time better, but do you have any suggestions at how to repair awkwardness after holding them accountable for guiding me more? I feel like a thorn in their side. I'm trying to keep focused on my work and personal improvement, but just feel like I was supposed to grin and bear it. I have high expectations of myself and others.
I do not wear make up either and have not done so for the last 25 years. It makes my face itch. I get MORE breakouts from clogged pores. I too rub my eyes or touch my face and it gets all messy. I don't wear nail polish often. Too much hand sanitizer in my life. A actual manicure bought and paid with those gel polishes can cost $100. I can't fathom paying that much on my budget. I am going to be a natural woman who just keeps a clean appearance and uses a light moisturizer for dry skin and maybe uses some tinted lip balm. Just keeping it real. I was going to try some mascara about a month ago. The cheapest one was $13.00 for a little tube. Then I thought, yeah, next time you get teary eyed when a patient dies, you will look like a racoon. Well, they have waterproof mascara now. ??? how do you clean that off? Now you got to buy make up remover wipes. Nah. Too expensive. Like if I bought everything I have seen in the make up tutorials it would be at the least $55. I get so sweaty now with menopause, it would just be running off my face anyway. Just keeping it real.
Your SON IS BEAUTIFUL 😍 God bless your family!!
