one thing i don't see absolutely anyone talking about is how awesome the album art looks. idk what it is about it, it's just so pretty
Literally just noticed this (because of your comment) but, what I thought was just random symbols on the cover art, is actually a form of rebus puzzle (I think?) where each symbol corresponds to a letter. Which in this case spells out “take me back to Eden.” Super cool

This song hits hard. We’ve all had those dreams where you’re with the love of your life just to wake up and for them to be gone.
This song really hits deep
Just had one last night lol. But it was a looooot more complicated. We were in some kind of fantasy world and we were on a team trying to escape some kind of disaster or being destroying everything. (Also I've dreamed about being on this "team" with these people before when I was very young a few other times in different scenarios involving giant monsters.) We all came across these opposite forces of power. They (the forces of energy) told us what we would gain and be able to accomplish with them. They also told us not to trust the other force as they were opposites. The girl who I was involved or in love with chose the dark force, stating it was the only way and expected us to do the same because of what it was capable of doing and how it promised to help save our world from whatever chaos was destroying it. One other person followed her, but the rest of us did not. I kept trying to convince her that the path they chose would leave them suffering and worse and not to trust the dark force, but she insisted it was the only way. Me and the 4 others chose the light. We were all given abilities. The dark and light gave each side some kind of suit that melded with our very being. Wings, weapons, energy, speed, flight, etc as well. The sad part is the darkness did indeed corrupt them. And the hard part is they were like family to me, and now they were trying to kill the rest of us. There was a bit of fighting between us but I woke up before I got any further and I got so upset because I hardly ever get to dream about them and they were the only people who I've ever dreamed about multiple times throughout my life and seeing them again was amazing but also heartbreaking based on what had happened. My dreams are very very intense and realistic. I did have another dream before that one last night too that was very vivid about a ghost haunting my house but thats another story lol.
Holy crap my dude, you should write a book about that dream Lol.
I remember getting married to the love of my life in one dream. We walked around a beach for hours on end just laughing and loving. Eventually we sat down and watched the sunset, and the love I felt in that moment was so powerful. I eventually woke up from my dream and I wanted to kms

IMO the fade out is fitting given the name of the song “The Apparition” it would make sense that the song would fade out much like a spirit or apparition fades from existence

@@METALBIRB same! I just saw a lot of people on the fact the fade out happened at all so I figured might as well throw my hat in the ring so to speak lol that said so have been loving the reactions so I subbed and can’t wait for “Rain” :)

I like the ending because it quite literally sounds like an Apparition leaving with the fade out plus the oo's. I think it's probably the best delivery without going into the insanity of sleep token instrumentation while being easily consumable just like my moms spaghetti.
exactly, they make use of fadeouts because that's what dreams, apparitions, ghosts and gods do, fade out
Always love your honest thoughts. I love how you revise your ratings after more listens. I wish I saw more of that because there are so many slow burn albums/songs that I was initially underwhelmed by that became essential listening to me, and I’ve had many songs I initially loved get stale after a few plays. I would LOVE to see you occasionally make a video where you discuss a few revised opinions over time. Maybe a few times a year?
Absolutely agree. I first listened to them from Alkaline. After brushing up on TPWBYT I listened to the rest of their stuff, and actually didn't like the one and two ep much at all. Then about a few months later I revisited it and for some reason it just hit different. Those two EPS are now my favorites among their catalog.

This one has been creeping around in my subconscious the last 2 days... the production on this one is near flawless. It's like they took the trap sections of "Dark Signs" and "Like That" and expanded on the sound. I love the way this one blends the trap section with the rock bit

agreed, while the title track and of course The Summoning are the best songs according to my brain, these are the best according to my heart and stomach
This is one of my FAVOURITES like I think Ascensionism is my favourite but that's bc it's legitimately a perfect song, but The Apparition has the rhythm that scratches my brain SO GOOD. And then coming in swinging with the synths? And the trap beat??? Oh!!! I just noticed!!! That vocalizations from the end play in the background of the pre-chorus!! I have listened to this song probably 20 times and I /just/ noticed that!!! I love this band just for putting so many layers in their songs that you discover something new every time you listen.

I just feel 6-8 minute songs all the time would get exhausting quickly, and the occasional "Sleep Token as usual" song in between all the experimentation is not only fine, but (I would argue) necessary to maintain their wide reach to different fans
that said, The Apparition has the least interesting chorus on the album to me; I still love the song
My favorite of the album, the lyrics are amazing, the emotion so deep, I can't get over it 🤧

Sleep Token's music moves me to the point where I almost can't handle it
That soaring high pitched, like scream almost at 3:42 is what keeps me coming back to this song, months later. It isn’t too noticeable on a first listen but after the bunch of listens I have given this song, it has given me shivers every time. So good.
I love how every reaction I’ve seen for this song, everybody says the same thing at the end lol. “You can’t end it like that!” 🤣🤣

when they say your voice is an instrument, his voice is like entire band on its own, you can tell how much time he puts into each song, every sylable every T notes. how he annunciates...its makes a huge difference if you ask me
First album I really got hyped for in a while and it definitely delivered
Theyre so precise with everything they do that I think the fade out plays to theme of the song, "never enough", "keeps you wanting more" idea/logic. My favorite besides the title track.

I felt the same first time I heard it, it just reminded me a little if ascensionism and just wasn’t that good. But after a few listenings I really enjoy it! It’s a absolute blast-on -full-volume-in-my-car kind of song
I think we can't fall into the trap of thinking every song has to be incredibly progressive. Inevitably that will lead to disappointment. We just have to rank songs simply on if they're good or not and this song is an absolute banger imo. No, it might not grab you like something like Eden or The Summoning but it's still vibey af. I could honestly see this being their next single and be a HUUUUUUGE hit on the radio because it's a little more accessible to the average listener.
I’m so glad you mentioned the MCR sound because I definitely got that too I this song, but I love the variety this album has. It has flavor for everyone.
I hear a lot of people saying that this song is kind of just classic sleep token and doesn’t really contribute much but I think that in itself is a contribution. I actually really like this song, but I’ve also been listening to Sleep Token since Sundowning so I think it’s nice that they aren’t abandoning the sleep token formula that got them noticed in the first place. I don’t think an album should be considered good purely off of shock factor
I do feel like the fade out was appropriate for a song called The Apparition. It’s dissipating/ghost like, so the gradual disappearing sound kinda fits.

Might be my favorite off the album, but I can't be sure. One thing for certain - The entire chorus, especially the part where he sings out "With you", is SO good. His vocal prowess can't be understated, honestly. The synth melody instantly stood out, and again the guitars just kick ass here. I will say my biggest complaint is the fade out, which is also something that happens a bit too often on this record I feel. I would love more tracks to have a solid close out instead of just doing a fade, it sort of kills that high near the end of these tracks for me when I hear it just slowly get quieter.
I don't know if anybody noticed, but I think I hear a reverb, in the background of the reaction vid, like the video is being played twice at once.
Honestly in some parts it was a nice touch, but then at some parts of the video, you hear this subtle banging that sounds like a thud for some parts of the video.
Not critiquing, I fucking love these videos honest to God. Plus this song I refuse to take off repeat, I fucking love the chorus as a whole.
I hope they continue to make more, I hope you react to more of their songs if they ever do more. Thank you for the entertainment and insight!

It’s predictable but it feels right, if that makes sense? The drop happens right when I really want it. I agree about the end. There’s just so much good material in this song that I wish they’d played around with more.

Many will hate me probably for saying this but when that drop hits i get a five finger death punch vibe in the vocal lol. But to me thats not necessarily a bad thing. And also being a metal head im also huge electronic music fan, so the beginning of the track is beauty as well. Love this track its actually probably one of my faves of the album.
Spaghetti!!! Also this one after several listens (all day yesterday) it definitely grew on me. It's a solid 8.8-9 for me. Granite, TMBTE, elucid and the summoning are my tops but they barely edge the rest out.

Not long enough is also kind of a sleep token pattern now! Look at the way Alkaline and Chokehold leave you wanting more. I think that’s what they tried to do here but agree, I’d love to hear that chorus more than once.

I love this song and after a week with the album I think it is becoming my favorite. It’s a song with a singular theme throughout, as opposed to songs like TMBTE or Ascensionism that are the genre-blenders, and are great for that. But this song has that consistency that makes it easier to listen to over and over. The way the guitar and synth weave in and out of each other is amazing. The vocals are perfect for this song. That said, I do wish it was longer as well.

Sometimes, being left wanting more, isn't a con (and is contrary to the "predictable" argument).
Tbh, it's my favorite track from the album. The chorus is so powerful, at least to me. The fade out is a nice touch because like others said, it's like an apparition just fading out.

The last half of this album frustrates the living hell out of me because some of these choruses are INSANE, but only happen once. It just leaves the songs feeling incomplete. Still love the album though.
