Lou Ann wins the sexiest blues woman hands down then and now! Her voice is so nasty and perfect for this tune as well as every song she ever recorded! Blew us all away in '79 and now! Grissom on the guitar and Lou Ann's vocals really gets a solid rise!
Truth, what a performer and Lady. Just found her today while watching SRV film, Rise of a Texas Bluesman
This guitarist (as well as obviously Lou Ann and the WHOLE BAND) goes hard, what a player
Oh, them Texas blues! Doesn’t get any better than this. Miss Lou Ann, David Grissom, Derek O’Brien, Sarah Brown and (I forget the drummer’s name. Lou Ann never got her true due, and she’s a master!
It's Rodney Craig, from the Cobras and Marcia Ball's band

Saw her in the eighties and fell in love still am.
I always loved Lou Ann's version of this song. She kills!! What a band!! David Grissom and Derrick O'Brien killer guitarists!! Sarah Brown and Rodney Craig solid as a rock!!
she's so incredible, so little known, so underrated. Lou Ann!
It's the great slim Harpo song... The stones do a spectacular version of it on exile on main street.. 1972
Lou Ann is the best of them all. Incredible blues singer.
Boogie Children! Flashbacks of a Barra in ol' El Paso TX the WHATEVER lounge. Beer, Sweat, and Tecates con Limon. Boom Boom out go the lights.
Good lord, this is amazing.
Lou Ann Barton......yes sir. She's one heck of a Blues Lady. She perfected that "attitude'. First heard her in Lubbock at the old Stubbs BBQ joint on East Broadway. Saw her many times at Antone's in Austin.
Love Lou ann, for many years>>>>> Shes awesome
Most versions of this song run from flat to hokey, this one is the best I've heard.
Beautiful cute Lady 😍 voice captivating voice played with great like SRV, JLV, Derrick O'Brien killer un this song 🎸🎸🥁🎹
This woman.. wtf.... so beautiful!!!
Geez,that was good!
Spectacular voice Miss Lou Barton playing very good the Blues 🎸🎸🥁🎹
🕶 shake your hips baby. ❤ u lou Ann.
Lou Ann what a singer!
I should have got in my car and driven to Texas the first time I heard Read My Lips. Is is now my favorite Lou Ann Barton song on UA-cam. Awesome! Thank you
sarah brown on bass!!! albert collins said derek obrien was his favorite guitar player...
In those Days I always thought Derek was as talented or even more so than a lot of the guest acts appearing at Antone's. Only in the last 10 years I realized that Derek O-Brien also produced a number of the albums including Lou Ann's
Lou Ann left all the girls in the dust. With that Texas drawl, I used to say I'd marry that woman sight unseen....then when I saw her, that was the icing on the cake. I'm such a Texan.
I was lucky to see her live in '06 at Antones on Blue Monday. Will never forget that voice.
I am floored that I haven't heard of her before. I blame all the military moves. I am thankful I found her now!
Lou Ann..... strippin the paint off the walls for so many years !!!!!!!
AWESOME++++++ ! ! ! !
Wow, awesome clip!!
Great stuff !
This rocks
One of these days gotsta shoot her portrait. Derek and David (awesome guitarists) have obliged me already so I need to find her and extend an invitation.
very nice
This isn't a knock, but monster guitar players were a dime for a dozen in Austin back then. Talent was unbelievable.
Sounds great
and Derek O'Brien OMG...... he and Denny Freeman were quite a pair
Espectacularrrr10 primera vesss
WOW SEXY AF !!!!!! and both guitar players are different and both BRING IT !!!!
Why do i hear some SRV.. Thankyou Lou Ann
Yummy! 🍀
Grissom!!
Dereks stingin it
Incredible !!!!!!! Anobody can tell me w
ho are the two guitar players ?
David Grissom & Denny Freeman
No the older guy on her left is Derek O'Brien. Very close to Denny though....I have seen them playing together several times, mostly with Lou Ann. Both incredibly amazing players!
That lip snarl at 7:16 is about as sexy as it gets 😍🔥🥰 I’ve seen Lou Ann running around with Jimmie Vaughan at a couple of car shows in Austin.
MY g-d she was sooooo good! How'd that Etta James-type voice come outa that li'l white gal?
who is the guitar player? whole band is really cookin
grissom alwas reminded more of mike bloomfield.
more please
i try it
Can anybody tell who these guitar players are ?
David Grissom on the left, Derek O'Brien on the right.
Who knows where was this recorded?
David Grissom is horribly underrated. I think that was Kathy Valentine on bass? Maybe not
No it's Sarah Brown.
that is the other one I was trying to think of. G those people are also young. Derek had hair. I guess at 77 all of them look young....except me of course
@@starke2908 yes David Grissom looks about fifteen
Everyone was kids then, that was 35 years ago, sheesh!
Those guys are trying to sound like Stevie Ray, bad.
They are his contemporaries and Derek pre-dated SRV. Do a little research.
@@markhoffmann7478 Stevie Schooled Derek.
@@JAMEYSIMMS ooh ok you’re one of those tools that sees musicianship as a sport, the faster the better huh Jamey? Clearly you don’t play and if you do, the mirror is your audience.
The drummer, Rodney Craig, was in the Cobras with Denny Freeman, and they invited a young Stevie Vaughan to join their band in 1975. Stevie stayed for 2 years and learned a lot of his style and chops from Denny. They stayed friends until Stevie was killed; they're probably gigging together in Blues Heaven since Denny passed in April this year....
I was close friends with Denny and this comes from him, though he was humble enough to never make a big deal out of it.
@@JAMEYSIMMS ARE EFFFING KIDDING ?
