Well considering how puhols, Griffey, and trout all flamed out, i would say juan Soto, the kid who hit over 400 on base as a 19 year old, has a great chance of NOT flaming out
He's a high-OBP player and the OBP greats like Ichiro, Gwynn, Rose have been great until 36-40 y.o. And as his defence isn't great he's probably going to play a lot of games as DH, lowering the likelihood of injury
Juanderful OhtaniCure!…? (YOU SENT ME TOPPS 2023 BASEBALL!!!!! But i did get a Buddy Kennedy rookie card. He won the NL Pennant for the D-Backs in his first season.)
Here is a twist Juan Soto after 2029 season he can opt out of the new contract. Also, I have a bet from my friend that he thinks that the Dodgers can win 5 straight titles, if that happens I have to pay my friend 5k if they win five straight if not my friend has to pay me 5k
Thats the most ridiculous 5k bet ever. No team is winning 5 in a row in baseball. Your friend bet 5k with a less than .01% chance, hes definitely not paying you
I don't think Mets ownership will lose any sleep over the option. In '29 Soto will be 31 and the likelyhood of him getting more than the 510 mil he will have remaining on the contract is low.
Isn't it funny that gleyber Torres blasts home runs when the Yankees can't pick up the game and actually wins the games for the Yankees but no one actually realizes that and they've been treating him like crap
What? Hes one of the best postseason players in the league, has 200 home runs by 25 years old and the 2020 season was cancelled, juan Soto has hit over 400 on base every year even as a 19 year old, he took 2 teams and put them on his back to the world series by age 25.....how do you guys not realize how good this dude is?
GameStop/ PSA submission update. Cards came in today. 50 day turnaround, since there was a 4 days holiday they hit the 45 days they said it will take. Sending 5 more in. Soto was way overpaid in my opinion. He is a good player don't get me wrong, but I don't think he's 765 million good. (I know its a 15 year deal but I still think its too much)
If you do the math, Soto is making $51 million a year, while Shohei is making $70 million a year. So who is making more? Thanks for keeping the hobby rolling👍⚾
Ohtani still gets 2 million a year and the rest is deferred to 20 years down the road. In real time present money that 70 million is valued at 46 million, so Soto is making more and for more years
@JabsFamily I understand that, but he still is making 70 million a year, no matter how you try to adjust it with inflationary guessing. You can't ignore the length vs amount of contract, regardless of how they agreed the amount was to be paid. Ohtani could be paid in $70 million worth of dog biscuits, and he still is being paid more per year than Soto.
I love how people assume the Dodgers and Mets are the presumptive pennant winners and Ohtani and Soto are the only two in the MVP conversation for the next decade. Could they be, sure, but there’s a bunch of other players and teams. How bout we just play the games and see how players do before crowning kings.
Sho and Soto, two guys who can actually afford to buy boxes of 2024 baseball cards without going broke, lol
