Cool review to see all the details of this board and your impressions. I’m also into kicktail boards and the Leon was clearly on the top of my mind but in the end I ordered the dh scout which is like a smaller Leon. I can’t wait to try out…
Thank you so much for your review! I can’t express how amazing it feels to see you enjoy the board I designed. You totally got the concept of the board, great pockets for the back foot and infinite options in the front with a footstop! I’m glad it fits you well!
so i was looking for a board pretty much the same criteria; no micro-drop in front, single kick, and narrow and pretty flat mellow concave, I bought the madrid wendigo. 9.25 in at the widest tapering down, 21.75-23 inches wb 33.5 in long, its also very affordable at $135 for the deck. I wanted a small freeride/race board to fit my smokies and this board is perfect for what i want and feels so good under my feet.
Actually the board that may come close to this is the Cantelated Tesseract. No micro drop (slight w) at the front.Has a kick tail but not as big. And may not be quite as stiff as the Leon. But a great freeride board.
Yeah that tesseract is pretty cool but i think its bigger/ less dialed for DH. There are a few boards in this style they just arent super common right now
Rhino kicktail wasnt out when I got this board and id have to check out the specs to compare them but the Leon is perfect for me and im still loving it!
Specs are similar to the Rayne strayne. If I wasn't a suckered for a wide board it would be the only one to ride. Fits the 145-155mm valks same as that. Just less features in the back end.
Yeah thats true, the strayne is probably the closest board to the Leon right now. No drop single kick and not too long I guess I just forgot it existed when I recorded this 😂
Personally no, I enjoy riding a 22-23 inch wheelbase which is what the Leon has, if you are looking for longer then the rocket rooster might be a good option. There is a bit of room on the leon to extend the wheelbase if you really wanted to with this sale rocket has right now
Hey, how tall are you bud? I am 5.9 with a wide stance. Its sucks buying a board without putting your feet on it. I was going to buy landyacthz freedive and the rayne darkside. I am doing downhill on an evo 40 right now and I use every inch inbetween the drops.
I'm 6ft pretty much on the dot and wear a size 10 shoe if that helps at all. I know the freedive is similar style to the Leon however the darkside is quite different, I actually skated darksides for years and loved them. I did a review of the latest darkside if you wanted to find out more about that one too ua-cam.com/video/mfA0On9opsc/v-deo.htmlsi=9E1tIod3TvAQHgqP
hi, i wanna buy a new board i currently ride a jet baked potato, kinda old.. its 33 length.. getting a longer length could affect my riding? i want to give it a try, what board do you recommend?
Yeah wheelbase is the main thing to look at if you want the riding to feel similar then id try find something with a similar wheelbase. Its hard to say what board would suit you best without knowing the specs you have right now or what you are looking for but I feel like the Rocket Leon would work well compared to how I remember the Jet Baked Potato

I have a feeling ill be riding this one for quite a while, very stoked!
Many thanks for this great, detailed review.
We are delighted that the Leon suits you so well.
I have a Phoenix and it is so sick. Light and great quality

Nice review! Rocket boards are the best. Got a Do Mini Nation and a Rooster, love them.

W in the front 🤢
@@Starkiller935 :-) yeah slightly weird but doesn’t bother me. It’s a great board and has a cork layer underneath that dissipates the road noise.

bustin hydro pro jonas richter pro model best board in the game
i Love my Rocket board too! totally worth the investment as way more confident whilst learning on a solid built board
Totally agree! they are one of the best brands out right now for sure
Timing! I was thinking exactly the same thing - so glad you did this video.
Rockin Valks, the green brand wheel, buying a rocket this week, have a GMR from rolling tree
What's a kicktail for?... Its clearly for kicking your board up at the bottom of the hill! 😂 Nice!
That's pretty much all I ever use kicktail for too.
Why did you go this board over the Rhino Kicktail? I'm trying to decide between the two!
Rhino kicktail wasnt out when I got this board and id have to check out the specs to compare them but the Leon is perfect for me and im still loving it!
zenit marble 35 is very similar also, no microdrop, very similar size
This is true, Marble is a lil flat for my preference but it is similar in style
The marble has microdrops that don’t allow you to stand on top of the front truck. From their website: “a progressive micro dropped platform”.

Rocket is running custom wheelbase option currently. Would you stretch the wheelbase an inch or so if it was feasible?

Considering the rockets. Overwhelmed with options.

The wheelbase options may affect the ride feel more than the size. How wide is it?
